Chapter 2.1

I looked out of my bedroom window and saw that the snow has risen to the very top of the ground floor window, and coming to an end. It wasn’t snowing anymore, but it was cold enough to where I knew it wouldn’t be melting any time soon.

I propped my window open and crouched on the ledge.

I knew there was nothing around my house other than the horse stables, and I knew I also had to feed the horses and give them blankets to drape over their bodies at some point today.

Then, I did a set of hand signs and muttered, “Fire Style.” a ball of fire erupted from my mouth as I spat fire at the snow. It melted instantly and water poured everywhere. Now I could see about five cubic meters of the ground. I suppose I would do that until my yard was all melted.

I jumped onto the lake of water and used my chakra to stand on it. I looked in the window and saw everyone gathered in the kitchen eating an early lunch.

I tapped on the window and everyones eyes darted to where the sound came from until they all landed on me. I waved with a close eyed smile. Gai stormed over to me and pointed.

“How are you out there?!” I heard him scream. Takashi came forward and opened the window for him so he could communicate more appropriately.

“I jumped. Now, who has fire nature chakra?” I asked. Kakashi and Jiraiya raised their hands. I nodded approvingly and pointed up. “Go into my room and jump out the window. I’ll give you further instructions after.” They nodded and jogged out of sight.

“What can I do?” Gai asked and Asuma rolled his eyes but went along with him.

“Gather up unused blankets, carrots, and apples with Takashi.” I decided after thinking for a moment.

“Okay!” he replied with much enthusiasm. I rolled my eyes and moved over so Kakashi could jump down.

Kakashi and Jiraiya jumped, and used their chakra to stay afloat also. I swiftly glanced at them and then turned to the snow, performing the same signs.

“Fire style,” I murmured again to myself. Fire came out of my mouth and blazed the snow. When I was done, I had about doubled our perimeter. I waved at the snow I just melted and smirked.

“Think you boys can handle it?” I asked teasingly. Kakashi’s eye rolled as he and Jiraiya nodded.

“Yeah, how much shall we do?” Jiraiya questioned and I shrugged.

“However much you can handle, dear.” with that, I disappeared over the snow, and used my chakra to stand on it.

It took some talent for one to stand on simply water, but it is much harder, and not very many people know how to stand on snow that isn’t packed in. They usually fall, and that is why all I could see were the mountain tops with familiar faces carved into it.

I walked around for awhile, heading towards the Hokage mansion. I had an excellent sense of direction when it came to Konoha. But when it came to anywhere else, well I might as well use a wrong map.

I tapped at the Hokage's office window, seeing that he was sitting at his desk sucking away at his pipe. He looked over surprised, but calmed slightly when he saw me. He waved me in, and I obeyed, opening the window and leaping in.

“Hello, Miss Teale. What can I do for you?” he inquired, rubbing his neck. I sat myself on his desk and curled myself up into a ball.

“Where does Uzumaki Naruto live?” I responded and his eyes narrowed suspiciously.

“Why do you ask?” I raised an eyebrow at him.

"So I can make sure he's okay. Perhaps bring him home with me." I smirked at him. "I won't bite," I reassured.

“Why are you interested in him? It’s not like you to go the extra mile to see if a little boy is okay.” he commented and laced his fingers together. I pursed my lips then shrugged.

“He is a tailed demon host. It would be a drag if he got out of control.” I said in monotone. He frowned and leaned in closer to his desk.

“Is something supposed to happen anytime soon?” he asked in a low, hush voice. I frowned at him in a mocking manner.

“How should I know?” I replied at him and barked a laugh. He let out an annoyed sigh and finally reached into his desk and pulled out a fat file folder. He laid it next to me and open the folder to the first page.

“Uzumaki Naruto lives in the only green apartments here in Konoha, apartment 301.” he said and handed me the first page. “There is his address at the bottom of the page.”

I glanced at the page and frowned honestly this time.

“Why is the whole page blank until you get to the bottom?” I asked confusingly. He shrugged.

“I like wasting paper.”

I rolled my eye at him and got off his desk. I gave him one last smile before disappearing and finding myself outside on the snow again. I let out a small breath and made my way around the snow covered town until I found a green building that had too many windows to be just a house or a shop. I looked around for a window that didn’t go into an apartment but into a hallway or something and eventually did find one that would work. I looked into the window and suddenly vanished, appearing into the building.

I glanced to a door to see the number ‘329’ and sighed, walking down the long hallway scouting out the door that read ‘301’. I saw that it wasn’t on this floor and went down the stairs to find just another stretched out hallway. Not one person was out, so they all must be cooped up in their tiny homes. I suddenly stopped to think. Would the boy be more open if I was a little girl his age? Most likely. I thought about my other form and decided to use it.

I found the right door and I looked down at myself to make sure my form was exact. The image of a twelve year old innocent, beautiful girl was what I saw along with everyone else.

I knocked twice and waited patiently for the blonde boy to answer the door. And when he did, it was weird him being the same size as him.

Naruto looked at me with a slightly shocked face, his cheeks tinting pink.

“Um… can I help you?” he stammered and I gave him a charming smile. I wasn’t used to being a child. I forced my own cheeks to become a light pink and poked my fingers together acting all shy.

As I was doing this, I was deciding what my excuse would be for being at his doorstep.

“Well… my aunt, she wanted to make sure you were okay… so she sent me to find you and make sure.” I told him in a quiet squeaky voice, compared to my normal outgoing one.

Naruto furrowed his brows and ruffled his hair. He seemed to be thinking that out.

“Who’s your aunt?” he asked and my lips curled into a smile again.

“She’s the woman who gave you a ride to school yesterday.” His eyes widened and he let out a startled ‘what?!’.

“Um, you can come in I guess but it’s kind of a mess!” the boy exclaimed and moved to the side to let me through. I made my way in and looked around.

It was a studio apartment, with a twin sized bed, a dresser, and a table with one chair. His bed was unmade, he had multiple empty dishes on his table, and there was dirty clothes stranded around the room in random places.

There was only one thing that stood out here. It was terribly cold, the same temperature as outside, possibly even cooler.

Naruto quickly kicked his clothes into a pile and sloppily made his bed.

“I’m sorry about it being so chilly,” Naruto started, getting my attention. “There is a hole in my window and well, the landlord won’t fix it.” He gestured to the window that was next to his bed and sure enough there was a hole the size of a CD. I felt the corners of my lips fall and I went to his bed.

“Do you have something you could cover the hole with?” I asked and he shook his head.

“I tried stuffing a shirt in between but it only made the hole bigger.” he answered and I crossed my arms.

“Well, this place isn’t good for the winter. I think you should go to my aunts house and stay until the storm is over.” his jaw dropped and he flailed his arms.

“But! How would we even get there.” I paused, haven’t really of thought that part through. I need to get back in my other form somehow without causing suspicion.

“I’ll go get her to take you to the house. It will be rare that you see me, many people don’t even know about me.” he seemed to pout and was about to say something, but I casted him a quick smile and escaped, disappearing into thin air. Now, where I ended up was simply on the second floor next to the window I came in at.

I quickly changed back into my normal alluring image. I let out a relieved breath, I don’t think I’ll be going back to that form just for fun for a long while.

I slowly made my way back to where Naruto was, but I saw him at his doorway.

I stopped walking and waited for him to scurry towards me.

“Miss Akuni!” He panted, when he got to me.

“Please, just call me Teale.” I replied and he grinned up at me.

“Okay, Teale!”

I smiled and patted his head.

“My uh, niece came and reported that your home isn’t good for wintery conditions. Is this true?” he pouted and fiddled with his fingers.

“Well, yeah..” he trailed off and he began to blush. I crossed my arms, and pretended to be thinking about what I was going to do about it.

“Hm… gather a few things and I will take you to my home.” I declared and he cheered.

“Yahoo!” he sprinted back to his apartment and not even a minute later he came out with a bag on his back. He walked to my side and we both silently made our way up the stairs and to the open window.

“We’re going through here??” he quizzed and I nodded.

After jumping out with ease, I turned to Naruto.

“Okay, just sit on the window and I’ll help you on my back.” I instructed and he obeyed, slowly but surely making his way out of the window. I turned my back to him and leaned down. “Okay, jump on.”

I felt a weight suddenly scramble onto my back and Naruto’s arms rested on my shoulders as I held up his body by holding his legs.

I started walking in the direction of my house as Naruto looked around in awe.

“I’ve never seen so much snow before!” he announced and I smiled slightly.

“Yes, this is quite a bit of snow.” I acknowledged and continued my way towards my home.

If only the four ninja were smaller, I could just transport them by carrying them, but they were much too big. So unfortunately I couldn’t get them off my back. Not quite yet.
