Chapter 8 [1571 Words]
As I entered the fifth tunnel, I came across some mysterious stacks of paper lying on a desk. I walked over to the stacks, now knowing that it might be bad. I picked one up.
"The Cat with a Special Gem,"
I said as I read the heading of the paper.
"What does that mean? Is this a different kind of cat that I didn't know about?"
I asked, leaning over to the copy of the paper.
"I wish to get out of here! I'm useless!"
I screamed as I glanced at an Oakwood tree that was just sitting there.
"I want to go back home. I want mom."
Everything was silent. I was furious of what had just happened to The Thunder Titan. I couldn't believe that he was dead. All this time we spent together, he was there for me, and now he's gone - forever.
I wanted to make a difference into life. I wish that I could, but I didn't know how to. I didn't feel like doing anything.
"This is so stupid!"
I said, as I kept screaming, now stopping.
"I wish that I could have my old, normal life back. I wish I was still in Just-About-Born-Cat-Ville. I cannot do this crap anymore! Everything feels useless!"
I crumbled up the paper and ran towards Tunnel Five.
"I'll find a way out,"
I began.
"I know I will. I must do it for King Cat's sake."
I scratched the ground with my bare claws, rubbing the dirt smoothly across the grass. I watched as I tore through the ground.
When I stood back up, everything seemed different. Dylan was standing right before my very eyes. The Thunder Titan was right behind me.
"What in this damn universe do you want?"
I screamed, pushing myself backwards so that I wouldn't hurt anyone.
"Listen to us, we'd like to-"
I ran away as I cut them off. Voices appeared in my head and the trees started screaming at me. I ran farther away until I landed inside of a hole and couldn't get back up. I was now trapped in the dungeons, panicking every step I took. I was skinny enough to squeeze through so that what I did.
I squeezed my body through the bars and sprinted on my paws. I couldn't get that voice out of my head. More voices started to appear and I was trapped in the middle of nowhere. Dylan and The Thunder Titan followed me the entire time, and I knew it just from the new way I could see the world. This time, I didn't know what I was doing.
I stood up taller than I thought I was, as I pushed through all the terror and suspense that appeared in my mind. I didn't know what I should do next so I decided to rush through everything that was going on.
I ran and hid behind a tree. The Thunder Titan and Dylan passed by me, yelling my name and knowing that I must be hiding.
"Hello? Are you still there?"
Dylan asked, walking around the fields and continuing to scream for my name. I didn't come out. I didn't trust them. I wished that I could, but what they've done to me now must be punished. If they want forgiveness, then what do I get in return? Exactly. I get nothing. The Thunder Titan was taller than the trees, so he looked over them.
I struggled to lung down as I immediately was caught by The Thunder Titan. He shrugged, gasping with hope that I was safe. He pointed over to the tree. Dylan looked over to where he was pointing. I was found and now there was no way going back. They were going to end me, and what will happen to the world, who knows.
Dylan spotted me hiding in the corner. I was ready to run, but zombies and fear were spreading each direction I turned to. Turning back to Dylan, and wanted to know everything. I knew that monsters were about to appear, confronting me towards them. I knew that this might be the end, even if Dylan doesn't kill me. If anyone kills me, it'll now be the monsters, and not at all, it won't be Dylan. Nothing happened. Everything was staring in my direction. I couldn't do anything else to survive.
I covered my eyes waiting for it to be the end of my life.
"Don't be afraid! These aren't monsters!"
Dylan came up to me, laughing and smiling the entire time. Although he wasn't frightened, he still wanted to comfort me. I knew that something was wrong. Young Dylan didn't want to admit it, but this was something that I didn't know about. The Thunder Titan stared down at me watching my tears come.
"Why did you come back for me? You wanted to kill me. Besides, I would have survived if it wasn't for you!"
I didn't yell. I didn't feel the anger I knew I had. Instead, I cried. Sadness awaited as joy and anger disappeared. I thought of every last minute back in Just-About-Born-Cat-Ville. I loved every cat there. They were cute and calm, and they always comforted each other when they felt down. It was a memory I would hold forever. A memory I'll hold until my true death awaits.
Continuing on with the tunnels, my fears went away and all I could see was Dylan and The Thunder Titan. Nothing else scared or frightened me. To be honest, I felt better than before. I felt like a different cat; a more confident one is the best way to describe it. I didn't notice what Dylan was trying to do. He didn't want to hurt me; he didn't want to end the world and take over. Instead, he wanted to help me.
What is wrong with this kid?
I thought, turning towards Dylan and The Thunder Titan. The adventure was long and everyone by my side knew it. There were only 100 tunnels, like I was sucked into a whole book written by a famous author. I didn't feel like I was inside a book, but I guess I'll never know. All I know is that everything was going to change my life. In a perfect way.

No one could explain where we are. I continued to watch Dylan and The Thunder Titan blast happiness and calm me down. They continued to act normal, like how they would while they fought and defended themselves. We didn't stop running until a sudden noise occurred inside the background. It was the only thing we could hear. Everything else vanished from sight, like it was a puddle of ice melting in the sun. We couldn't move or see.
Everything happened extremely fast so I couldn't remember what had happened, like somebody snapped and made me forget everything that appeared around me. I startled, cleaning my paws when I could see again. I turned over to Dylan and gasped. Blood ran down his face as he growled with anger. A strange figure stood next to him, stabbing the knife in his face and near his side.
"I'm sorry. I have to go before I am caught."
He jumped away, following the figure with sad eyes. The figure couldn't see me, but he knew I was there. He was looking for me, but he didn't care about capturing The Thunder Titan. I got on my knees and cried. Once when the figure was gone, The Thunder Titan could see me again. He could hear me and see me once when my shadow reappeared.
I cried as well, wishing Dylan good luck.
"I wish life was never bad. I wish that we lived in a good world. I wish that no one was this bad and that I was- that I never came to Earth."
I whispered as The Thunder Titan suddenly grabbed my paw.
"We have to go,"
He whispered. Dark music was the only thing the background had. Suspense raced through my spine, causing the Earth to move. We were in the middle of an earthquake and we couldn't stop it. I hopped on The Thunder Titan's back as he rushed towards safety. The earthquake stopped, then it came back again.
Nothing else appeared in sighed except for destroyed trees that could hear each whisper. Enemies who didn't know what the hell they were doing, and voices that reminded me of King Cat and my horrible mother who treated me poorly. Every past memory turned into sight, releasing anger and fear from my body.
The Thunder Titan knew that my adventure was crazy, although he felt bad for me too often. We entered Tunnel #5, passing by each tree and sight of nature. There were no birds, just trees. If there were plants, they were dead. We entered the tunnel, hoping for a better moment to succeed in.
"Wake up!"
A voice appeared from my past. thousands of people came among me, crossing their arms and pointing in different directions. I couldn't see anything but black. Their eyes were the only things I could see, although I could hear them coming towards me. I tried to move, but I couldn't. The Thunder Titan and Dylan were nowhere to be found either.
I woke up, knowing that was one of the weirdest dreams I had in a long time. I still had a piece of paper in my pocket. It was the headline of the title,
"The Cat with a Special Gem."
