15; REAL LIFE
"Are you kidding me!?"
Jordan's groaning could be heard from the living room. Tyler sighed to himself as Jacquelyn was talking to Ashton, and little Addie was playing by herself.
"What's going on with him?" Jacquelyn looked up to Tyler.
Tyler sighed and shrugged, "I don't know. He came home from Emerson's the other night, and hasn't left his room. Only to shower and eat."
Jacquelyn bit her lip, and thought to herself, thinking of reasons why Jordan could be upset. But unfortunately, nothing came to mind. Jacquelyn just shook her head sadly.
Ashton stood up quickly, "I'll go talk to him."
"Thanks." Tyler nodded.
Jacquelyn smiled slightly as she snuggled up to Tyler, laying her head and hand on his chest. A smile grew on Tyler's lips as he pressed a kiss to her forehead.
Ashton smiled to herself as she left the room, and began to jog up the stairs. She always did admire the way her older brother treated his girlfriend.
"Jordan," Ashton called, banging on his bedroom door. She sighed, "Bro, we need to talk. Come on out, Jordan Michael."
Ashton stood at his door, waiting patiently with her arms crossed. While waiting, her eyes traveled the hallway. She took in every scratch on the wall, every pencil mark, and every photograph hanging up.
Jordan laughed at his little sister as he opened the door. Ashton jumped, being startled and not knowing he was there.
"What, Ashton?" Jordan asked, suddenly becoming serious and annoyed.
Ashton scoffed, being taken back by Jordan's sudden attitude. She rolled her eyes and rose an eyebrow.
"What's going on?" Ashton asked quickly, "We're all worried. You've never been like this before."
Jordan bit his lip and sighed, pushing his door open wide for Ashton to come in. Ashton gave Jordan a cheeky grin before entering his room, and plopping onto his bed.
Jordan shut his door, and just stood there. Suddenly, his tattoo became interesting.
Ashton rolled her eyes once again. "C'mon Jordan. Spill it."
"Emmy kissed me." Jordan stated simply.
Ashton raised an eyebrow again, crossing her arms at her brother. "Isn't that a good thing?" She asked, "I thought you liked her."
Jordan nodded, "I do, I have since high school. But that's not why I'm upset. She kissed me, and it went further than it should have, so I stopped it. I just didn't wanna do something that either of us would regret. As I was leaving, she asked if we could forget that the kiss never happened. She's too blinded to realize that Hunter is abusing her and cheating on her."
Ashton nodded, finally understanding. She could remember the day he came home all flustered because of Emerson.
"And it hurt," Ashton stated, "I see."
"I just want her to see that. I love her, and when she comes to me because Hunter upset her, I can't do anything." Jordan sighed.
Jordan crossed his arms, sighing to himself. It sucks to fall in love with your best friend, he thought.
And it did. It truly did.
~*~*~
Hunter stood at his counter island, playing with his coffee mug. Emerson sat on a bar stool on the other side of the island, simply staring at her boyfriend.
"H-Hey, Hunter?" Emerson asked timidly.
Hunter looked up, a false smile on his lips. "Yes, babe?"
"Why don't we ever cuddle?" Emerson questioned, drawing shapes on the marble counter with her fingers.
Hunter stared at her for a moment, before shrugging. "Cuddling; it's such a childish thing. I don't understand, it's not intimate."
"Oh." Emerson's heart broke.
After her night with Jordan, she had loved the idea of cuddling. Laying in bed, in silence with the one you loved. It sounded like a wonderful thing.
"Why do you ask?" Hunter questioned, leaning forward on the counter and studying Emerson's face.
Emerson shrugged, "I don't know. I just thought we could try something new."
Hunter rolled his eyes and came around the counter. He leaned back against it and crossed his arms.
"Em, cuddling is stupid, and childish. It shouldn't be happening in a mature relationship." Hunter stated, "I'll be back. I need to get dressed."
Emerson nodded, and Hunter leaned in, kissing her on the lips. Emerson closed her eyes, and imagined that it was Jordan she was kissing.
Hunter smiled at her as he pulled, then walked off down the hall. Emerson sighed, she wasn't kissing Jordan, she was kissing her boyfriend. It didn't feel the same to her.
Emerson's heart was breaking. She felt horrible.
She cheated on him, with her best friend. She almost slept with him. The worst part, Emerson didn't regret it.
