chapter three
[third person]
-
aria and shawn both found themselves lazing about in their condo shortly after the interview. shawns head was resting against arias abdomen, him reading through lyrics, and aria reading through a book about medicines. she had a hand holding her book, and a hand nestled in shawns curls, rubbing softly at his head, soothing any tension.
"aria, how about i come to la with you?" shawn says out of the blue, making aria chuckle softly to herself.
"i mean sure, but andrew and i will be going around doing pre press for you," she tells him, putting her book down. "sure, come with me."
"aria, can i ask you something?" shawn says to her gently, sitting up, and placing his notebook down. aria nods, curious to why shawn is asking to ask her a question. "what happened? when they revived me?"
aria sighs softly, not wanting to remember that day at all. she thought she had lost him forever. she sits up properly, folding her legs together. "it was late," she begins, sighing softly. "you had gotten out of surgery maybe a few hours ago, and aaliyah and i were sitting with you in the room. you had been put into the coma or whatever, i don't really know what they did; it was all a crazy blur." her eyes fill with tears, making shawn notice and hold onto her warm hands. "you had some sort of internal bleeding, but you were sort of not being fully held in the coma. i really don't know what was happening, but the next thing i knew, i saw doctors come rushing in, beeps filling the rooms a-and most of all, your pulse line coming to a flat line." the two stay silent, as aria composes herself quickly, letting the tears roll down her cheeks, before wiping them away quickly. "t-they revived you, and thank god you pulled through. i was so scared, shawn. i didn't want to lose you, even though we weren't in a good place. it would kill me."
"come here," he says softly to her, bringing her into his arms, something she needed desperately. she weeps silently against his chest, the tears not stopping from rolling down her cheeks, as he lies down flat, holding her close. "i'm not going anywhere, aria. you're gonna have me for life baby, i promise."
"good, because i don't want to lose you," she sniffles gently, as shawn feels his heart break. she really has been through a lot recently. shawn runs his fingers through the lengths of her hair, easing her stress, and calming her down completely.
"you know, i could hear everything that was going on when i was in that coma," he tells her softly. "i heard you all the time. you were the reason i fought, aria. i wanted to get out of it and kiss you, apologise to you, treat you how i really should have treated you."
"you treat me well, we just made a few mistakes," aria mumbles, looking up from his chest. "don't blame yourself."
"but it was my fault," shawn sighs gently, leaning down and pressing his lips to her forehead. "i'm sorry."
"don't be," she murmurs back. "shawn, we're engaged now, please don't keep thinking back to that stupid mistake both of us made. let's move forward."
"but i can't, aria," he says gently. "i can't forgive myself."
"you have to forgive yourself, shawn, for me," she whispers to him, leaning up and pressing her lips delicately onto his neck. "forgive yourself, please?"
"i'll try," he croaks out, whilst aria trails kisses up and down his neck, stopping at his sweet spot to suck down lightly. shawn lets out a soft groan, making arias stomach fill with butterflies, as she looks up, gazing so lovingly yet so optimistically at shawn. "i love you so much, aria."
"i love you more," she whispers back, leaning up and pushing her lips onto his, shawn holding onto one of her legs, hooking it around her waist. "do you trust me?" she asks softly, placing her hand on his shirt.
"of course, aria," he responds, rubbing his hand over her arm. "what's wrong?"
"nothing, just," she sighs softly, unbuttoning his shirt. "just trust me."
she made him the centre of attention.

shawn woke up midway through the night, craving a long glass of water. he woke up, only to discover aria not in bed either. he quickly gets up, walking straight into the kitchen, seeing aria help herself to a glass of water too.
"oh, hey," shawn says quickly, slightly in shock, but nevertheless happy. "when did you get up?"
"maybe about ten minutes ago? i got really thirsty," she chuckles, taking her glass and handing it to shawn, knowing he wants water too. aria fills up another glass, settling down next to him, the two lovers leaning against the counter. "can we do something tomorrow?"
"today, don't you mean?" shawn smirks, as aria nudges him gently. "we can do whatever you want hunny, and if you want to go for round two after last night then that's perfectly fine with-"
"shh," aria blushes, letting a small laugh tumble from her lips. "can we go to the flower market?" shawn smiles gently at her, wrapping his arm around her waist. "and then for a walk?"
"anything you want baby," shawn tells her, his voice raspy. "i think we should also go see your family at some stage."
"shawn i don't want to-"
"aria," he cuts her off softly. "they're your family, and i know how much you hate declining your mums call in the evening when you're cooking, and how much it kills you that you don't call liam after you've had lunch."
"don't remind me," she whispers, a frown etching itself onto her face. "i hate it but what can i do? liam made you unconscious shawn, i can't let that happen to my family. you're my family shawn, i don't need them."
"answer your mums call tomorrow at least? you used to be so close to them," he frowns. "i know you and your dad are okay, but you and your mum, and you and liam, have a different bond all together. try to mend it aria, please."
"fine, i'll answer her call tomorrow."
-
aria unlocked the door to the condo, bringing in the brown paper bags she brought back with her from the local food market for dinner. shawn was busy playing the guitar and strumming away melodies, and crafting new music. the sunset was streaming into their home, creating a completely incredible ambience.
"i'm back!" aria yells, slipping her shoes off and heading straight into the kitchen.
"hey hunny," shawn responds, putting his guitar down and strolling into the kitchen, greeting aria with a small kiss. "how was the market?"
"good! they had new season strawberries in so i bought a punnet, and they also had mulberries from california, so i picked up some of them, and they had rye sourdough! so i got a loaf of that too," she lists, excitement crossing her face as she empties out the bags. "i was thinking," she starts. "for dinner, i could make maybe a bean burger? and we can have them on these brioches i bought too."
"can i help you cook?" shawn asks, opening up the strawberries and taking one to try. "oh babe, these are so sweet, we should get some more," shawn says to her, as she grins, trying a strawberry herself.
"of course you can," she beams at him. "come on, i'll teach you my grandma's recipe."
shawn couldn't help but to notice arias spring in her step as she moved around the kitchen, turning some music on, and dancing around as she helped shawn to cook the food. shawn watched intently, learning the recipe, and also enjoying their evening together.
"here we go, two bean burgers," aria says, placing the two plates down on the island, leaning down to give shawn a quick kiss. "i'm gonna go get some drinks, do you want to try one of those vegan beers we bought the other day?"
"sounds good," he agrees. "this looks great, aria."
"you did most of it, so this looks great, shawn," she smiles softly at him, before walking off to grab the beer, and two glasses so they could share it.
he couldn't help himself to also notice the slight fall in her step, and slight frown on her face.
her mother hadn't called her today.
