Chapter 6: Paranormal Vibes
"A loving heart..." - Splash - "Or it restarts..."
"Three sprinkles of dirt..." - Plop - "To make its part."
"And finally, some dust and grime..." - Whoosh - "For more than the time..."
"Just a little mix here and a mix there- Ooh! And a little bit more over there..." A few mixes later, the cauldron glows an incredibly blinding light because of the use of a forbidden, powerful, dangerous spell by its owner - a witch.
A real broom-riding, potion-making, pale-skinned witch. An actual, real freaking witch.
The bright, blinding light exploded into a bunch of sparkles and the cauldron was now empty, stripped clean of all its former ingredients. The only things left in the cauldron were a bunch of Moon Flowers.
Moon Flowers; they were dark-blue to black, shimmering hibiscus-shaped flowers. But don't be fooled by their sparkling beauty, they were extremely dangerous flowers and could only be found in the Twilight Forest.
The witch, she looked inside the cauldron but her facial expression dimmed almost instantly when she only saw the Moon Flowers in the cauldron as if she was hoping for something else, which she did.
Sighing, she grabbed the cauldron's handles with both hands and carried it to the outside of her home. She lived deep in the Midnight Forest; sister forest to the Twilight Forest. The witch women walked up to her enchanted well.
She placed the cauldron down on the stepping stool before reaching her left hand into the pocket of her witch robes. Then, she held her hand above the well and opened it, revealing the blackish-purple dust she held before she dropped the handful of magic into the water.
Taking five steps back from the well, she held three fingers in front of her face, counting down, "Three, two, oneee..." BOOM!
The well exploded with a cloud of purple dust and after the cloud settled down, the witch stepped back to the well, grabbed the cauldron, and got ready to pour the flowers into it.
"Well, this is goodbye..." She sighed, eyeing the bundle of Moon Flowers in her cauldron, "Another failed attempt for the Parturition Spell I've been working on. This was, um, attempt #57 of the Parturition Spell tests-"
And just as she was about to dump the whole cauldron full of flowers into the well, a coo stopped her from doing so. She stopped midway, already ready to throw away the cauldron's filling. The cooing she heard continued again.
"What...?" She placed the cauldron back on the ground, "I-It can't be..." She dug her hands into the flowers, hoping to feel something else other than just petals. Even when she felt her hand touching the bottom of the cauldron, she didn't give up and continued searching, "C'mon, c'mon. It's gotta be in here somewhere."
Her hand hit a new texture soon after she had said that. Smooth, baby smooth... and soft, "Skin," She thought to herself.
She let her other free hand dive into the cauldron and she also grabbed the said skin. The witch let out an exhale and closed her eyes before yanking the 'skin' out of the flowers.
A yelp escaped her lips as she shut her eyes even harder, afraid of what she would see if she opened them. They remained closed for a good minute before she felt a hand - a tiny hand - on her cheek, and another cooing sound entered her ears.
Those two things were the encouragement she had needed to open her eyes and she gasped at what she saw.
"OH-! A BABY! YOU'RE A- YOU'RE A BABY!" She spun around in a circle, making the little baby giggle, "I can't believe it! I made a baby! A little..." She raised a brow, checking its gender, "BABY GIRL!" She squealed like a high school girl, "I made an adorable baby girl," She stopped to take a good look at the baby, "Healthy... Beautiful... Flawless... And utterly adorable!" She gushed.
The baby girl squirted out some saliva as she giggled bubbly. Even as the saliva dripped down onto her long sleeve, the witch couldn't get mad. The baby girl was just too cute and precious and innocent.
"You're..." She paused her celebration of success to think of the baby, "Whose are you? Are you... a human's baby? Or...?" She frowned, making the baby quirk a brow in confusion, "I don't know who you belong to, baby... I should give you up for adoption, shouldn't I?" She sighed sadly, "Or maybe even to my boss lady."
"Mmm," The baby scowled ever so slight, still looking adorable, "Noh," She babbled out.
The witch looked back at her in surprise, "Excuse me?"
Baby girl still scowled, "Noh!" She gabbled angrily, "Mamah!" She made grabby hands to the witch.
And that was how the witch decided to become the best mother she could ever be to this adorable daughter of hers that she had created.
After getting the baby cleaned up and dressed, while the witch was in her room to change, the baby girl made commotion from the living room. The witch rushed out of her room to see a mess of paint on her rug.
"No, no, no! Baby, don't do that. You're making a big mess," She said, taking away the paint from her newly born-from-magic daughter.
Her daughter kept reaching for the paint but it was getting out of reach and she started sobbing, "Waaa! I wanu pant de moooon!" She cried.
Her mother raised a brow, "You... wanna paint the moon?" Her daughter nodded shakily, still wailing. This made her mother wanna cry as well, "Oh, sweetheart. I am so sorry. But you can't paint on my rug, it's too precious. It was a gift from my mom and it's the only thing I have left of her..."
She looked around and grabbed some watercolor paper, paint, and water, "Here. You can use these. I need to go on an errand soon so I'll see you later. Bye, I love you, baby-"
Then she realized. She's had this kid for not more than an hour and she hasn't even named her, "Ohh, baby. I'm so sorry, I forgot to name you," She sighed, "Let's see... What name suits you..." She then spotted the moon on a new painting her baby had just made that was colored red-orange, and she also spotted a small portrait of her and her mom on the wall.
"How do you like... Lunar Wenny DeClispe?" 'Lunar' looked up and smiled at her mom, "You like it, don't you? It really suits you, Lunar... Well, I gotta go. I'll be back really soon, Luny. I love you," She blew a kiss as she left out the door, "Bye!"
After her mother had left the house, Lunar looked at the door and nodded, waving, "Ba-buh, mamah," Before going back to her beautiful moon/night sky painting.

7 Years Later...
Run... Run... Run... Run... Run...
That's all she could think of at the moment being.
Well, considering she was being chased by a ferocious, hungry monster that was dying to eat her at that very second, it made sense to herself.
Lunar jumped over rocks, slid under branches, ducked at gigantic boulders being chucked at her, and hopped across a small river. She panted as she ran away, but she felt no fear, only adrenaline and excitement as she was chased.
In all honesty, Lunar was used to this kind of stuff; running headfirst into danger. She was those types of rebellious kids that went against their parents' specific orders such as Don't go to the forest without me, Don't do anything dangerous while I'm gone, Don't be reckless, Stay away from danger, and lots of other boring safety rules from her mom; Auburn DeClispe.
Auburn was a great mother. She was amazing in every way, but like any other kid, Lunar had always hated the rules that her mom made for her. Her mom stated that it was for her own 'safety' but of course, Lunar didn't care.
Every time Auburn caught Lunar going against her rules, she always had a fit. But only because she loved Lunar and didn't want her to get hurt; she just wanted to protect Lunar, like any other parent would, and she always understood Lunar's intentions, even if they were not safe.
Another boulder getting thrown towards her head shook Lunar out of her trance. How in the world she was able to get distracted while in a life or death chase, no one would ever know. Lunar looked above her head and pounced forward just in time to avoid getting crushed.
Well, maybe not crushed - because of her witch enhancements - but she would most likely get a major concussion and a serious head injury, and that along with getting taken away by the monster didn't sound pleasurable to anyone. Especially not to someone who was an inch away from almost experiencing that.
Unfortunately, because she had to jump forward to avoid the attack, Lunar landed facefirst in the dirt. Her far-from-perfect landing in the dirt slowed her down and she didn't have time to get up, only getting time to flip around, before the monster caught up to her and was towering above her.
The monster roared loudly at her face, its saliva spraying onto her already scarred face. When it stopped roaring, which was about one minute later, Lunar put on a disgusted face.
She stuck her tongue out, "Egh. That's disgusting!" She wiped her face with her hand, "Ew! You're disgusting," She curled her hand into a fist, "GET AWAY FROM ME!" And with that, she pushed her hand with as much force she could muster up and punched the monster in the face, sending it flying a few feet away from her.
Lunar sat up and stared at the monster for a few seconds while catching her breath. When she finally stood up, she looked at her hand and saw the dirt and blood on it, "Agh," She winced and covered up her injured hand with her other one, "That really hurts," She hissed in pain, but the monster didn't care.
The teal-haired girl only started running away once the monster got up. Even then, after almost getting herself killed, she still ran with the same adrenaline and excitement. She let out heavy breaths and her eyes held determination as she ran through the Midnight Forest.
"Almost there..." She muttered, seeing the small speck of her house in the distance, "Come on, Lunar," She huffed, eyes narrowing to small slits to focus, "You got this."
She kept running as fast as she could, but the next thing that happened wasn't what she expected. The monster currently chasing her wasn't a monster she's encountered before, it was new. So she had no idea of its abilities.
Lunar let out a pained gasp before letting her small body fall to the ground. She looked down at her abdomen and saw a huge spike sticking through her stomach; it went all the way through from the back to the front.
Letting out small breaths and gasps of pain, she tilted her head to look at the monster. It definitely looked a lot scarier now that she was vulnerable to it. Sitting up as best as she could while visibly wincing, she backed up as fast as she could, hoping to get away from the creature.
Unfortunately, the monster was smarter than that and it started running at Lunar.
"NO!" Lunar shouted, getting up to her feet before starting to half-limp half-run away quickly.
She tried her best, but with her injury, she wasn't fast enough to outrun the monster. Once it sensed that its meal was getting away, the monster pounced at Lunar. It landed on her and used both its claws to pin her down.
The painful part was that it dug its claws into Lunar's shoulder, making her let out a strangled cry of pain, but the monster didn't care one bit. Its only desire was to eliminate the threat to his home; Lunar.
Once the pain died down, Lunar opened her eyes again and looked straight into the monster's soulless eyes; only seeing hunger and revenge in them. At this point, she couldn't even hide her pain anymore and just let out all the pained gasps and tears.
"N-No... No, n-no. Please- ah, p-please," She begged the monster who most likely didn't even understand a word she had just said. But even if it did understand, it clearly didn't care that it was about to murder a 7 year old kid.
The monster snarled at her and roared. Lunar screamed in fear as the monster's jaws went down at her face. She closed her eyes and expected pain... but none of it even came. She could only hear what sounded like beatings.
She opened her eyes weakly and looked up to see her mother ending the monster's life by a tree. Lunar's breathing started going quickly as she heard her mom say threats to the now-dying creature; she didn't hear what her mom said, but it sounded scary.
When Auburn was done dealing with the monster, she switched her attention to her daughter. Her eyes widened at her injuries and she kneeled down by her, "Lunar!" She felt her mom grab her hand, "Hey, hey... It's gonna be alright. You're alright. I'll make sure you're alright. The next time you wake up, you won't be in pain anymore. I promise," Her mom started tearing up.
Letting out huffs of breath at this point, Lunar just nodded and closed her eyes, "Okay..." Her voice came off weak, "Thanks, mom."
Auburn nodded as well and looked down at the dirt, "Anything- Anything for you, my little witch-flower."
That was the last thing Lunar heard before getting dragged into unconsciousness in her mother's hold.

5 Months Later...
Lunar had just climbed back up the ladders with a skull mask on. She groaned creepily and freaked out the others as they ran out to the gardens at the back of Rainbow's candy-themed house. But as soon as Lunar herself got out to the porch, she giggled and took off her mask, revealing that she had pranked them.
The others - Funneh, Gold, Draco, and Rainbow - had thought that her prank was uncool because they had already been scared to go down to Rainbow's basement anyway. But Lunar still thought she got them good and they were just sore losers.
Walking back into the house, Funneh said, "Let the princess lead the way!" And by that, she meant Rainbow because it was her princess and prince slumber party. But then she turned around to look at Draco, "Actually, the prince should," Referring to him.
Rainbow nodded and pushed him lightly through the door, "Yeah, prince, go! With your feather," She laughed.
"Go, feather boy," Funneh giggled.
But Draco shook his head, "No..."
"Fine," Funneh started, "As the Princess of Flowery Flowery, I will go down the basement first," She declared, "Are we ready?" She asked her crew.
"Yes!" They all replied.
Rainbow cheered, "Yeah, let's go princesses and prince squad!"
Funneh didn't wait as she just started to descend down the ladder, "Byee!" And the rest of her crew followed her down the ladders one by one-
"CUT!"
Hearing their cue, the five young actors on the fake ladder dropped their act and let out a sigh at their finally successful shot of the special episode's final scene. They let go of the ladder and fell on a pillow that was right underneath them.
Director Bryant came up to them and smiled, "You all did great today. Finally finished this episode's last scene," He stopped to chuckle as the young actors picked themselves up from the pillow, "I mean, I can't blame you. The scriptwriters made a very funny scene with Lunar pranking you guys with the fake skull mask."
Lunar started to take off her heavy leather costume and responded first, "Yeah, haha. That was hard to pull off."
"Very," Rainbow added, taking her fake crown off of her pink hair.
"Hihihi," Funneh giggled before looking at the brunette, "Gold laughed the most when we were filming that scene," She said, making everyone laugh and Gold flustered.
With a red face, Gold huffed playfully, "Well, what was I supposed to do? Lunar was really good at acting that part out and I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous her mask looked," And she ended up joining in the laughter.
"My mask looked ridiculous?" Lunar cackled out of control, "I-I can't..." She laughed before collapsing on the floor.
After they got back control of their selves, the young actors excused themselves and their director left them to their own kid business. As they left the recording studio, they got an uber to go to Cafe de Rainbow, which they still don't know Rainbow used to own.
As soon as they got out of the car and Rainbow saw her old business, she nearly cried but managed to keep it together. They went in and ordered their drinks before finding a nice booth to sit at.
"So," Gold started, taking her phone out of her Chanel bag, "What other movies or series are you guys planning to audition for?"
Funneh sighed, "Well, I don't really have much plans on what to audition for. Just auditioned with you for the Christmas Wonderland movie and the Candyland one or whatever it's called," She smiled and relaxed her body.
Draco nodded and said, "Interesting... Gold gave me advice to audition for that horror movie trilogy but like, I'm not sure I got the part, heh..." He frowned.
"Don't be upset, Draco," Rainbow spoke up, "I'm sure you did great in your audition."
Lunar smirked, "Yeah. If they don't hire you, then that's their loss. I might've just met you a few months ago, but I've seen how amazing you are at your job, Drac."
"Hmm," He hummed, the corners of his lips twitching upwards into a small smile, "Thanks, guys. You all seriously know me so well. Even if Rainbow and Lunar are new. I say that they're officially part of The Krew now. What do you say?" He asked Funneh and Gold.
"Are you kidding?" Funneh spoke with a low voice, making the others worried, "Is that even a question?" She chuckled, "YES! Obviously they're in The Krew now." She glanced at the brunette, "Right, LeChan?"
Gold nodded, "De-fi-nite-ly," She said slowly but surely with an elegant smile, "You two are more than welcome in our small group."
Draco gasped dramatically, worrying the others, "You two have to meet Julia!" He grinned, making the others let out a sigh of relief, "She is amazing, beautiful, talented, sweet, gorgeous, smart-"
"Ahem," Lunar interrupted Draco, "It sounds like someone had a crush," She sing-songed teasingly at him, wiggling her brows up and down playfully.
The others laughed while he tried to cover his burning face, "Wha-What? Julia and I?" He snorted un-convincingly, "Naaah. We're just best friends. She's like a, uh, sister to me. Yeah," He laughed awkwardly, "And what brother doesn't compliment his sister, am I right?" He smiled nervously.
Rainbow rolled her eyes, "Righhhht..." She smirked at a flushed Draco.
Funneh giggled, "And Rainbow owns this establishment, hihi."
Gold and Draco chuckled at that, and so did Lunar and Rainbow. But Lunar noticed something in Rainbow's eye when Funneh said what she said, something like sadness and trauma and depression and a lot of other negative emotions.
Lunar stopped laughing and just frowned at Rainbow's fake laughing. She could clearly tell Rainbow didn't think what Funneh said was funny. Funneh's words had done the opposite but cheer Rainbow up, it upset her.
Rainbow then quieted down her laughing and looked away, but something - or rather, someone - she saw made her sadness even more visible. She looked back at the table and just fake smiled to not make any of them suspicious.
Unfortunately, Lunar was already onto her. The teal-haired girl looked in the direction Rainbow looked at and saw a blondie with blue eyes almost as bright as Funneh's gems. She got confused because all she saw in the blondie was just a regular girl.
But this blonde girl definitely meant a lot more to Rainbow.
"My mom died when I was born."
A sentence brought Lunar out of her train of thoughts. She instantly looked at the person who had said it, Funneh.
The bluenette looked down and sighed, "My dad said she died giving birth to me and my sister. He told me I had a twin that died in the birth process. He said I was lucky to even be alive right now."
"My mom told me that my dad died in a car crash when I was just around 2 years old. I don't even remember what he looks like..." Gold sniffed, "It's really depressing."
Draco placed a hand on Gold's shoulder to try and calm her down, "Both my mom and dad died in a fire that burned down our house," He had to pause to calm himself down, "I survived... along with my twin sister but she experienced a severe head injury that gave her permanent brain damage. So she's a tad bit cuckoo after that accident."
Rainbow looked at her hands before closing her eyes, "Both my parents are still alive. I just... um, it's a long story. It's complicated back home so I'm staying elsewhere for the time being," She looked away from the others and let out a breath.
The atmosphere around them became tense and sad again. Funneh looked at all of her friends and covered her eyes with both her hands, letting a tear slide down her cheek. She removed her hands from her eyes and placed her elbows on the table to hold herself up.
She then took a look at Lunar looking down at the floor and said, "What about you, Lunar? Did anything happen to your parents or family?"
Lunar's eyes shot open and she looked at Funneh in shock. She had her mouth agape and was stumbling over what to say. One part of her wanted to tell them about her mom being a witch, but another part of her thought exposing her mom to her friends might lead to her being exposed to the entire world.
Not only would that endanger herself and her growing career, but it would also endanger her mom, who happens to be the last witch in the world. And being the last of her kind would make her a big target for a lot of jerks.
"Uhm. I don't have anything to say about that, so yeah," She quickly stumbled out of her seat and tripped over her foot while trying to walk out the door, "I need to- um, I gotta- I gotta go. My mom- M-My parents are calling me. Uh, yeah. Bye-"
But just as she was about to leave the building, Rainbow got up, "WAIT! Lunar, wait!" And she did. Lunar stopped and looked at her pink-haired friend, "In honor of our first-ever series, and because it is about kids having a slumber party... sleepover at my place?" She smiled.
While the rest of them were down for it and wanted to go, Lunar had already made up her mind and knew that being with them for the whole night wasn't a good idea. She might break down or some other bad thing was gonna happen. So she went with her gut feeling.
"Uh, I'm gonna skip out on this one, guys... And before you say anything, I know, it sucks I can't come. But, you know, duty calls and my parents need me so, um," She grabbed the door handle, "BYE!" And with that, she dashed out the door, leaving her friends confused.
⊱ ─────────{.⋅ ✧ ⋅.} ─────────⊰
"Click this, and that, and this... pour this silver powder. And voila!" She raised her arms up and a purple misty fog appeared above the cauldron where she was mixing the potion in. The fog then turned a dark midnight blue and then she spoke.
"Ahem," She waved at the fog, "Hi, mom. I know, it's been a while since I contacted you and I'm sorry about that. It's just, finding a job at this age and since it happens to be acting, I've been busy shooting for this new series of mine. When it comes out, I'll send you a TV and I hope you'll enjoy watching it. So far it's been fun and these new friends of mine are just the best. But, I don't think I'm the best to them...
Earlier today, we stumbled upon a topic which was about our family, and while they all revealed what happened to them in the past, I... I-I didn't. I couldn't! If I tell them that my mom's a witch, the word might spread and then the whole world might know. I can't do that to you! You're the last of your kind and I know how you're gonna be hunted down for money by those stupid jerks. I'm not gonna let that happen! Even if it means lying to my friends.
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made this whole catching up thing depressing. My bad. I promise the next thing I tell you about won't be about something sad or upsetting like this, mom. Anyway, it's late now. I'm gonna go to bed. Sorry again, mom. I love you, bye."
And with that, Lunar poured in the black powder that made the fog move away from the cauldron. Then the mixture in the cauldron spun into a portal and the fog quickly dove into it. As soon as the fog disappeared into the potion, the mixture disappeared and so did the fog.
She smiled, knowing that her message was getting sent to her mom. Lunar looked behind her and saw the picture frame of 2 year old her and her mother in the garden. She let a tear slip past her right eye and down her cheek.
Lunar closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before letting it out. She grabbed the top of the frame and repositioned it down so that the photo was facing the table, making it not visible. Once she did that, she opened her eyes and shook her head.
"I'm sorry, mom. I can't keep thinking about you every single second of the day. I have to let go of you for now. I will return one day, but not now. I'm sorry... I love you so much, mom, and I'm sorry for doing this."
She got settled in her bed and relaxed her body before she let herself fall asleep in tears.
