Here is your update

It was dark outside, I washed my face and saw something moving outside.

" Who is there?" I shouted

I said and went outside and saw Kartik sitting on the porch.

" What are you doing here? It's not safe" I questioned him

He looked at me, " Look at the stars, they've created everything so perfectly" he chuckled

Feeling something wrong, I sat beside him

" You know I wonder, what will it be like when we go outside this world? Like would we be able to survive, and why did they created the whole thing in the first place??" He said

" It's ok to have so many questions, we all are confused, but we have to keep moving forward" I said

" You always know what to say, I've missed you" he said looking towards me

" I missed you too" I replied feeling all the emotions rushing in, that I've kept in a jar

" And about Leslie, I'm sorry I didn't told you the whole thing as I was confused too" he said as he forwarded his hand and tucked a stray hair behind my hair

My heart skipped a beat when he did it. Something is really wrong with me.
I looked away immediately to avoid eye contact.

" You could never make eye contact " Kartik laughed

" No I can" I said bluntly, he just knows everything about me

" Really, then do it right now" he challenged me

" Fine" I said, and turned my head towards him once again and our eyes met.

First it was easy to do it as I had the challenge in my mind, but then his gaze softened and moved towards my lips. I didn't even dare to move my eyes, but I felt myself leaning towards him, he copied my action.

He softly brushed his lips against mine and then he lifted his gaze to seek permission. I slightly nodded and we kissed, it was soft and tender and then we both came out of it.

I was so shy that I couldn't even look at him, I can feel his gaze on me.

" Hey look at me" Kartik said as he turned my face towards him, but I hid my face in the crook of his neck.

He caressed my hair, it was so soothing that I don't remember when I fell into sleep.

Next day we were back on the track with many more people with us. Kartik held my hand when we were walking, I looked at him but he didn't pay any attention to my burning gaze.

When we were nearing the border, Joe suddenly jumped on Kartik, his eyes were turning black

" He's infected" Jack said as we tried to hold him off

" You fucker, you're the reason" Joe shouted.
