The moment the day broke out of the horizon, the two assassins were out of bed immediately. Y/n let out a groan as he began stretching his back, feeling a few vertebrae pop bringing him relief.

Y/n: "Honestly, not the worst place we've slept in"

James: "Haven't you slept in worse?"

Y/n: "In jail or in sand?"

James merely grunted hearing Y/n's response as he got up and stretched out, Y/n soon followed loosening himself up as well. The two put on their hoodies and went outside, looking out the vast academy that will be their home.

Y/n: "Ready?"

James: "It's just a warmup, so don't strain yourself"

Y/n and James wasted no time and grabbed onto the walls of the academy, scaling the large tower as the sun began to rise. Within a few minutes the two brothers made it to the top of the academy, eyes upon the wonderful view.

Y/n: "As much as I miss the sun coming out of the ocean's horizon, this is a pretty nice watch as well"

James: "Let's not stay too long, I don't want to start initiation with an empty stomach"

Y/n: "Aye..."

Y/n then looked at his half brother, more specifically his Faunus trait. His wolf ear glimmered with a single silver earring.

Y/n: "Is that mum's?"

James: "She decided to give it to me before I headed to Beacon, wanted to give me something to remember her by"

Y/n: "...I know you don't expect me to care but...how is she?"

James sighed, touching the earring that decorated his ear.

James: "The brotherhood is taking good care of her"

James and Y/n looked out at the clouds approaching the horizon, Y/n leaned back a bit while James went closer.

James: "I may not be too fond of your crew, but I do miss being aboard the Sea Blazer"

Y/n sighed as he looked up the sky.

Y/n: "She'll fly again someday"

James: "If you need a hand, I've got two"

Y/n rolled his eyes at James' deadpan humor.

Y/n: "Your wit needs some work, but I appreciate your willingness"

Y/n slid on his guns, sheathed his swords, and strapped on his smaller weapons. He walked towards his brother, who was going through maintenance with his two pistols, cutlass, tomahawk, bow, arrows, and other small weapons.

Y/n: "Ready?"

James: "Of course, I just want to finish up initiation"

Y/n: "Fair enough, I want to get back to Sea Blazer after all this"

Y/n and James began walking out of the locker rooms, only to get a snarky comment from a rather unpleasant person.

Weiss: "Why do you need so many weapons? You could be just like everyone else and turn them into guns instead of carrying clutter"

The Kenway brothers both flipped her off on the way out, offending the Schnee.

-timeskip-

Y/n looked out at the forest in front of them, nothing but green and within it was the relic. Usually he'd use eagle vision to find the location, but it was way too far out of range for him. He'd curse to himself until he was ambushed by a hairy beast.

Yang: "Kenway!"

Yang wrapped her arm around Y/n's neck, he hunched a bit over as he laughed.

Y/n: "You're awfully chipper today aren't ya lass?"

Yang: "You bet your ass! It's initiation day baby!"

Yang finally let go of Y/n.

Yang: "See you later?"

Y/n pulled up his hood, a grin forming on his lips.

Y/n: "Bet yer arse"

Y/n and James stood on launch pads, both of their hoods covering their faces with a shadow. Everything around them was nulled, drained of color, a perfect state of mind for the two assassins. They felt pressure shoot them outwards, catching the winds as he descended to the ground. Y/n used his whale ability and absorbed the impact as he rolled as he landed.

The pirate never lost momentum as he climb up the trees to get a better vantage point, he took out his compass which pointed to the North. Y/n wasted no time to start jumping trees.

James on the other hand observed prints and possible damages made by other initiates, he stabbed his cutlass into the grass, the shadow pointing to the North. James took his sword and like his brother, made way with haste.

Y/n continued to climb the trees, swinging with tentacles using his Kraken ability. He was focused towards his location, never losing momentum. Y/n heard a roar ahead of him, stopping him and using his Eagle Vision.

He found seven beowolves, and one Alpha leading them all. The pirate sneered as he unholstered two of his guns with a toothy grin forming his mouth, roaring out with guns blazing. Each energy bolt pierced through the beowolves as a trio of sharks came out of the ground attacking, the Alpha came at Y/n with vicious intent.

James sniffed the air, he smelled burning wood near his general direction. James leapt off the branch and turned into a holographic eagle, flying and watching a fight unfold. He flew down, going into his faunus form and threw his tomahawk at one of the Grimm.

Y/n saw the Alpha grimm fall as the monster took a flying tomahawk to the head, turning into ash. Four grimm scurried away seeing their Alpha fall, the pirate bolstered his gun and sheathed his sword.

Y/n: "I didn't need your help y'know..."

Y/n quick drew on a beowolf attempting to ambush James, killing it and turning it into ash.

Y/n: "...but I appreciate it, nonetheless"

Eagle vision helped the two locate the rendezvous point.

James: "I found the location, let's move"

Y/n holstered his gun and ran with James, free running through the wildlife around them until the reached the ruins. The two of them looked through the different relics within the ruins, they looked around at the variety of different options.

Y/n: "Chess pieces, really?"

James: "They probably represent something, Y/n"

Y/n: "No shit, Just thought that it was cliche"

James looked carefully, pondering what the pieces could mean. His eyes began glowing blue, using Eagle Vision to look for any other clues that he can find.

James: "I don't think there's anything around here"

Y/n climbed up one of the pillars, activating his Eagle vision to find a certain pattern.

James: "I hope you realize that the ruins in Vale aren't like the ruins in Vacuo"

Y/n: "Yes I know, I thought it'd be worth a try nevertheless..."

A rustling from the bushes caused the reaction of pistols drawn by the Kenway brothers, only for a yellow mane to pop out of the bushes.

Yang: "Cool it cool it cool it!"

Y/n snickered once again as he holstered his pistol and leapt down from the pillar he stood on.

Y/n: "Ironic coming from you don't ya think?"

Yang and Blake came out of the bushes as Y/n dragged his brother to Yang.

Y/n: "James, this is Yang Xiao Long. Yang, this is James Kenway"

Yang: "Pleasure"

Yang stuck out a hand for James to shake, which he accepted hesitantly.

James: "So how do you know my brother?"

Yang: "Well it all started with-"

Through the forest echoed a screech in the air as a Nevermore flew up into the sky, and hanging from its back was none other that Weiss Schnee grabbing on and screaming for dear life. While everyone else looked with concern to see if there was any way they could help Weiss off...on the other hand.

Y/n: "Oh Monty! The cry in that one!"

Y/n was hollering with laughter as he watched Weiss much to the others' dismay, he wiped a tear from his eye with his knuckle before catching his breath.

Y/n: "Hah sorry, I had to get that out of my system. James?"

James sighed before free running up the ruins before transforming into a holographic eagle and began catching up to the Nevermore.

Yang: "Huh, what do you know. You two share semblances?"

Y/n: "Kind of, it's a genetic semblance that our father had. It differentiates when passed down"

As Weiss clings to the Nevermore for dear life, she hears the cry of an Eagle from behind. There she saw it turn into a hooded figure that grabbed onto the talons.

James: "Need a lift?"

Weiss: "How could you possibly-"

James merely grabbed Weiss and jumped off the Nevermore emitting a scream out of her mouth, Weiss clings onto James immediately as they descended from the sky to the ground. The two disappear and transform into the eagle once more before gracefully landing on the ground turning back.

James: "You're welcome"

Pyrrha skidded across the ground before stopping right at the group.

Yang: "Great! The gang's all here! Now we can die together!"

Ruby: "Not if I can help it!"

Yang: "Ruby!"

Ruby rushes the Deathstalker carelessly and she was punished with a pincer knocking her down.

Ruby: "D-Don't worry! Totally fine!"

The two brothers began charging the arachnid while summoning their grounded animals.

Y/n: "Bloody hell! She's going to get herself killed!"

James: "How about we avoid that!"

James took out his bow while Y/n loaded his pistols with dust charges, Yang begins to run towards her little sister to help.

James: "Nevermore in bound!"

Y/n: "I'll focus the ground! Cover the air!"

James began to fire at the two Grimm heading their way, the Nevermore brings down a volley of razor feathers pinning Ruby's cape and blocking Yang's path.

Yang: "Ruby get out of there!"

Ruby: "I'm trying!"

James turned to the others as he continued to bring fire to the Nevermore.

James: "Don't just stand there! Divert the bird!"

The ranged combatants begin firing at the Nevermore while the others try to save Ruby, fortunately for Little Red, Weiss ran between Ruby and the Deathstalker and froze its stinger in place.

Weiss: "You are so childish"

Ruby uncovered her head and saw her standing between her and the Grimm.

Ruby: "Weiss?"

Weiss: "And dim-witted! And hyperactive! And don't get me started on her fighting style!"

Weiss began catching her breath before collecting herself.

Weiss: "...And I suppose I can be a bit..difficult, but if we're going to do this then we're going to have to do this together."

Weiss bends down to Ruby's level, resting the tip of Myrtenaster to the ground.

Weiss: "So if you quit trying to show off, I'll be...nicer"

Ruby: "I'm not trying to show off, I want you to know I can do this"

Weiss: "You're fine"

The two Kenways sighed in relief as Yang hugged her little sister.

Yang: "I'm so happy you're okay!"

The initiates heard the cry of the Nevermore as it began returning its attention to the group.

Jaune: "Guys! That thing is circling back! What are we gonna do?!"

Weiss: "Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us"

Ruby: "She's right, our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliff. There's no point in fighting these things"

James: "You can say that, but the Grimm feel very differently"

The Deathstalker began pulling its way out of its confinements while the Nevermore began to fly towards them.

Y/n: "They will continue to be a threat to this forest, it's better we exterminate them now that way we don't have to encounter them later"

James: "And even if we do try to run, they'll only try to hunt us down"

Y/n: "But riding hood is right, let's make our way back to the cliff. If they do continue their assault then we send them back to hell"

The group began booking it to their rendezvous destination, and as the Kenway brothers predicted, the previous Grimm they faced began approaching them steadily. Y/n armed himself with pistols while James drew his bow.

James: "You help out with the Deathstalker, I'll take the Nevermore with the others"

Y/n: "Fine by me"

The James flew into the group dealing with the Nevermore while Y/n moved to the group dealing with the Deathstalker.

The Nevermore perched on one of the pillars blocking the way for the initiates to escape.

Yang: "Well that's great!"

As the students hid the Deathstalker began closing distance. It tore through the trees and met with the other students.

Jaune: "Aw man! Run!"

Ren: "Nora! Distract it!"

Nora began flanking the Nevermore, diverting away from its razor feathers and pulling out a grenade launcher. A flurry of pink explosions cracked into the air, while she forced the Nevermore to retreat for the moment James didn't let it leave his sight.

James nocked an arrow onto the string of his bow, the tension in his pull as strong as it was didn't falter his aim. An arrowhead with a white vial in its center flew through the air and entering in the shoulder joint of the bird. An expansion of ice disabled one of the Nevermore's wings causing it to fall into the chasm below. James rejoined the others knowing well that the Nevermore will recover in short notice.

While Nora began reloading, the Deathstalker began to strike. Blake and Ren slashed at its armor forcing its attention towards them, the Deathstalker chased down the two while the Spartan and the Knight took the battle to the bridge.

Pyrrha: "Go go!"

Pyrrha transformed her spear into a rifle, chipping away at the shell of the Nevermore while the others regrouped.

As James predicted, the Nevermore recovered almost immediately and destroyed the bridge the group stood on dividing them.

James: "Same plan?"

Y/n: "Seems like it!"

Two knives stuck onto the edge of the bridge as the swashbuckler flung himself to the other side. His flintlocks began glowing red as bolts matching its color began firing down onto the Deathstalker.

James continued to light up the Nevermore with  arrows, each one of them exploding and burning off its access feathers. Blake joined with the group fighting the Nevermore.

Blake: "It's tougher than it looks?"

James: "Thank you! That totally gives us something to work with!"

Yang: "Let's hit it with everything we got"

Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and James begin raining down all kinds of ranged attacks onto the Nevermore to no effects. The large demon bird immediately crashes into the structure they held onto forcing them to get to higher ground.

Weiss: "None of this is working..."

Ruby assessed the situation, analyzing each member within the group she fought with and the terrain around her. Nothing was left unturned while she formulated something to work with.

Ruby: "I have a plan! Cover me!"

-scene change-

Y/n dodged a stinger from the Deathstalker as the others began their charge. Two bolts from Y/n's flintlock hit the Deathstalker's eye blinding some of them. Y/n watched Ren shoot at the Deathstalker's stinger giving them a window of opportunity.

Y/n used his rope darts to catch the tail, an aura formed around him shaping into a large whale holding down his weight.

Y/n: "The stinger is loose! Nail that beast!"

Pyrrha: "Done!"

Pyrrha threw her shield at the tail as it stabbed into the armor of the Deathstalker.

Jaune: "Nora! Now!"

Nora: "Heads up!"

Pyrrha used her shield as a boost while Nora hopped on and gained air with a pink explosion. Another pink explosion turned her into a blur and forced her hammer onto the stinger fully impaling the Deathstalker and leaving it in a crater. The others began running off the bridge as the corpse of the large scorpion fell into the abyss below.

Y/n: "Well...that was just dandy"

-scene change-

Yang's flares flew past the large bird focusing its attention to the brawler. The Nevermore turned the structure Yang stationed on into pieces, instead of retreating she charged towards the Nevermore. Yang found herself within the beak of the Nevermore, forcing it open. Even within a predicament like this it didn't hinder Yang's aggression.

Yang: "I! HOPE! YOU'RE! HUNGRY!"

The flares dazed the large bird of prey. James watched as the Nevermore fell to the ground.

James: "So that's why he likes her..."

Weiss slid into the fight and tagged Yang out. Weiss leaped into the air while the large bird attempted to go back into the air. Ice creeped on the ground Weiss stabbed into and froze the tail of the Nevermore in place.

Blake threw Gambol Shroud to Yang and created a slingshot, James saw the plan being formed and turned into a bird flying into the air.

Ruby hopped onto her scythe, the ribbon stretching back as Weiss summoned a Glyph. With a simple turn of her fingers the glyph went from a pale color to a pitch black to hold Ruby in place.

Weiss: "Of course you would come up with this idea"

Ruby: "Think you can make this shot?"

Weiss: "Hmph, can I?"

Ruby: "...can you-"

Weiss: "Of course I can!"

Ruby loaded another into her chamber as Weiss released the glyph holding her. Breaking past the sound barrier Ruby caught the Grimm with her scythe and stuck to the cliff side.

Weiss formed a row of glyphs on the cliff side. Ruby dragged the Nevermore to the top of the cliff, firing multiple rounds that propelled her up.

James flew up as high as he could before transforming back to normal and dived towards the cliff where the Nevermore was being dragged.

Ruby made it to the top of the cliff with the Nevermore at her mercy while a hologram of a bear formed behind  him. With raised fists he struck down the Nevermore's body with a full force of an Ursa.

The Nevermore's head flew off its body while the corpse was plummeted to the ground with a large dust cloud being what remained of it.

The team who took down the Deathstalker watched in awe as Ruby stood on the cliff victorious.

Jaune: "Wow..."

Y/n: "Show off"
