Chapter 16: Escape
Ok I've written the rest of the story. There are 19 chapters. Be prepared for daily updates until the end again.
Virgil pulled harshly on the bar keeping them trapped in the dark cell. After a day without Thomas they were beginning to fear what could have happened. He knows Thomas isn't dead because then they would all be dead as well but who knows what torture their host could be going through. Virgil panics again, think Roman would never torture Thomas right? But he's with Deceit, who knows what they are going. He pulls again more violently and gasp when the bar drags against his palm and pulls the skin so he bleeds.
"Virgil! Stop please! It's no use you're just hurting yourself." Patton grabbed the crying side into a hug and held him as he sobbed.
"This wasn't supposed to happen Patton. Deceit wasn't supposed to come ruin our vacation. It was going to be special." Virgil gasped for air heavily as he attempts to calm himself down. Patton rubbed his back reassuringly while Logan peers out the bars.
"Someone is coming, it's not Roman or Deceit." Logan said with a slightly panicked expression but with his usual composure.
"Patton? Anxiety? Are you down here?" The man said as he peaked in passing cells. Virgil perked up. He knows that voice.
"Knight Ansel?" He whispers.
"Anxiety! Thank goodness I found you!" The Knight rushed to their cell and found the three sides. "Patton!" The man called when he spotted the usually happy man. His face changed when he saw Logan as if trying to show respect for the man in the cell. "Sir Logan."
"Ansel. What are you doing here?" Virgil said standing up to approach the knight. He was still skeptical of the knight from the last time they had met and Roman had caught the man staring.
"The Knights are furious at Roman for taking over the kingdom. It's been less than a day and things are already awful." The knight explained. He pulled a key out of his pocket and began to unlock the cell. "I figured since you and Patton are close to Roman maybe you could help but then I found out you were thrown in the dungeon. Now the towns people that weren't given roses have gathered on the hill side outside of town and are preparing to fight for our king back."
"What happened to Thomas?" Patton asked cutting of Ansel. Ansel opened the cell and ushered them out before answering.
"Roman has him locked in the tower. The only reason us Knights haven't burst in already is he threatens to hurt the king of we do."
"Well than we need a strategy. If we don't want Thomas getting hurt we need a better plan than storming the castle." Logan said. Ansel nodded.
"We can think about that latter right now let's get out of here."
Ansel led the three sides through the dungeons to a tunnel in the back. He ushered them into the dark musty tunnel where they all fought the urge to cough on each other. The tunnel surprisingly lead to the hill outside of town. Or maybe it wasn't very surprising that the prisoners that had dug the tunnel dug it to escape the town. What surprised the sides were the towns people sharpening swords and preparing horses. They looked sullen and a few angry as they looked at the castle. Virgil could see the tower that he knew Thomas and Roman would be in and his heart broke from the betrayal. Patton gently tapped his shoulder to lead him to where Ansel and Logan had wondered off.
"Virgil we have thought of a plan." Logan said when the two joined them. "It's very simple but hopefully will work but we need you for it." Virgil nodded apprehensively to Logan.
"Okay?"
"You love Roman don't you?" Logan asked but made it sound more like a statement than a question.
"Wh-what! N-no! Of- course not!" Virgil stuttered. Was he really that obvious.
"Really?" Logan raised his eyebrow, "cause you show all the signs of being in love. Your pupils dilate when you see Roman, you blush lightly, you are still clutching onto his sash like if you let go you would die." Virgil felt his eyes water up because Logan was right. He loved Roman and it hurt to see Deceit controlling him. Virgil nodded to show he knew Logan was correct. "Roman gave you a rose correct?"
"How did you know?"
"I saw you place it in a vase when you thought no one was around. Now my question is why didn't it effect you? From my understanding the roses are controlling the people who are by Roman's side. Possibly even Roman himself, you all saw the crown of roses right?"
"Are you suggesting true love Logan!" Patton asked smiling at the stoic man. Logan sighed and grabbed the bridge of his nose.
"Possibly. That does sound like the silly nonsense of a Disney story."
"Okay where are we going with this?" Virgil asked.
"While we storm the city, you will sneak into the castle and stop Roman using whatever true love method thing that works."
"Like true loves kiss?"
"Yes Virgil like true loves kiss."
