Chapter 11: You're Lying
'How dare Roman say that! I may not be the best at leading but he doesn't have to boast! He's always been a prince, let me have something!'
Thomas's thoughts reeled in anger as he stormed through the halls of the castle.
'Who needs to be royal anyway.'
He found the room that he remembers to be his. The stairs up the tower were tiring but he just wants to go home.
'Roman can be king. Who cares?'
He entered his chambers and went for the door they came in through. He opened it expecting to be back at home only to find clothes. He had opened a closet and expected to be home.
'Now what?'
He trudged down the tower stairs again in search of the others. Anyone but Roman. Although Roman's chambers were the only other room he knew how to get to. With a sigh Thomas headed back to where he had left Roman. The sound of someone sobbing stopped him though. He recognized the sound as his which meant it was one of the sides but which one. Following the sound it lead him further from Roman's room as if the side was walking away crying. He stopped short when he saw the crying side.
"Patton..." Thomas began when he saw the bruises on the dad's hands and the way he was holding his shoulder that looked slightly dislocated in Thomas's non-professional opinion.
"Oh Thomas hey!" Patton said with a fake smile. He whipped his tears with the hand that wasn't holding his shoulder but flinched when that just lifted the shoulder.
"What happened?!" Thomas cried running to hug the moral traits waist (as to not bother his shoulder).
"Um I accidentally got locked in a closet." Patton explained. Thomas could tell he was lying but pushed that aside for a moment to make sure Patton was ok. He lightly touched the wounded shoulder and watches Patton flinch again.
"We need to find someone who can fix this." Thomas said frowning. "Logan would know right? He's studied basic medical aid?"
"Please don't bother Logan with this." Patton said with wide eyes.
"Please Patton. You're hurt. Let's find Logan and he can tell us what to do." Thomas begged. His heart broke to see Patton in pain. "We'll tell him the lie about the closet and just ask for help. Please."
"Li-lie? I-don't k-know what y-you mean?" Patton stuttered.
"I know you didn't accidentally get locked in a closet. I could tell you were lying."
"How...?" Patton whispered.
"Your eyes moved to the left. I've been observing you all since Deceit showed up and I've figured out what you guys do when you lie and tell the truth. You look to the left when you lie because you hate remaining eye contact while lying. It's instinct to you." Thomas explained as he slowly began leading Patton towards the advisory room which he is trying to remember how to get to.
"Re-really? That's really cool Thomas. What about the others?"
"Logan like never lies. I still haven't figured him out. Virgil looks down. Much like you he won't do eye contact when lying. Finely Roman blinks frequently when he lies." Thomas explains on the way. Once he found the advisory room he watched Logan say by to some older guy. "We are here." Patton looked up quickly and gasped.
"Logan!" Patton smiled to the head advisor.
"Patton! What happened?" Logan ran over to the two and immediately looked at Patton's bruises. Thomas smirked at Logan's wide desperate eyes as he looked over Patton's injuries. While the logical trait may not often show it he does care about Patton. A lot.
"I got stuck in a closet. Don't worry though. I eventually... Came out the closet."
"Now is not the time for gay jokes Patton. How did this happen?" Logan said seriously while staring into Patton's eyes.
"I got locked in a closet. I escaped ok? No big deal." Patton said. Thomas blinked in shock. That wasn't a lie. He thought back to what Patton had said earlier that had been a lie. He said he accidentally got locked in a closet right? Thomas's eyes widened, with urgency he felt the need to confront Patton about it.
'Who locked my dad in a closet?!"
He thought angrily, staring while Logan went to reset Patton's shoulder.
