Names
Lance laid on the bed curled up in a ball as he didn't move for days but Lotor knew the cuts on his cheek and jaw from Hagar where deep enough to be infected if he didn't take care of himself soon. But Lance hasn't said a word since.
"Blue," Lotor sat on the edge of the bed Lance closed his eyes tightly tensing as he kept his back to Lotor and knees pulled tighter, his hands where holding another to his chest.
"May I help you? Those claw marks will become infected," Lotor said gently as he didn't touch the paladin.
No reply.
"I know your scared, I know your confused, I don't quite understand it as well," he said gently as Lance sniffled and buried his face into the pillow.
"I've been alone for many things that no one should, I don't want the same for you," he reached for Lance as his hand hovered over his shoulder but took his hand back.
"I'm a monster," Lance whispered.
"So am I," Lotor nodded.
"You know what you are, I don't," Lance turned to him with tear stains on his tan face.
"That's for you then to figure out, who you are, not what, what you are is a paladin, who you are is so many other things," Lotor sighed looking away.
"I don't know who I am," Lance sat up wiping away a stray tear as his bare feet crossed over another and he hugged his knees.
"Then just be you, blue," Lotor smiled gently at him.
"Stop always calling me blue," Lance mumbled looking down.
"I don't know your name," Lotor shrugged.
"Oh yea..." Lance gulped looking down as he stayed there. "It's fine, it's not important," he took a deep breath.
"Of course it's important, it's so very important, don't think your any less because of this blue, don't think that," Lotor leaned down to try catching lances blue and gold eyes but he kept his eyes casted down with a frown.
"No one is coming for me... Are they?" Lance gulped and Lotor was confused where this question came from.
"Blue... Is that what has been bothering you?" He asked and Lance sniffled again as Lotor saw how fragile he looked.
"It's been weeks since you captured me, Shiro is even free, he should've at least come back for me, that's what leaders do right? I know I'm not that great, but but..." Lance covered his face.
"But I thought I was worth something to at least my friends..." He croaked and Lotor frowned looking at him.
"Isamu..."
Lance looked up quickly as he heard that name for the second time now, Hagar told him what it was from, but that's now his name, that's not who he is... But, the blue paladin Lance, didn't seem to fit anymore either.
"It's the closest thing I know is your name, not what you preferred to call but blue suits you as a nickname, not a title," Lotor said slowly and Lance wiped his tear again looking at him.
"Isamu, that's what Zelra named me... Maria gave me my earth name," Lance gulped.
"But I'm not on earth anymore," he whispered.
"If it's not what you want to be called I can continue to call you blue, but it isn't you name... Nor is Isamu though I suppose," Lotor looked ahead trying to figure out how to be more proper with calling him. Lance felt a smile crawl on his face shaking his head at Lotor.
"Isamu does seem to suit you in a way," Lotor looked back at Lance smiling softly. "It's smooth on the tongue, easy flow off lips, yet it can sound daring and dangerous with a mixture of delicacy and beauty," he stroked the side of lances face and skimmed under his altean marks again.
"I guess it's fine for a while, I'm sorry but I don't feel comfortable with anyone knowing my name here," Lance sighed but didn't pull away, he craved a kind touch like this.
"May I ask why?" Lotor trailed his hand down memorized by his smooth skin.
"Cause then I won't be able to forget the fear someone may put in me by saying my name... Hagar even saying it I don't think i could even think of it the same, it's the one thing I have," Lance took a small breath as he leaned into Lotors touch.
"I could almost call you lucky for that than, I wish I could do the same," Lotor smiled as his thumb traced lances bottom lip and lingered for a moment. Lances eyes stayed closed as he breathed softly not really paying attention to where Lotors fingers trailed, the heat of another being touching him sent Lance into a trance of memories. How his mother would comfort him with playing with his short hair, or would hold his face when he was crying cause he got a paper cut or had a gash on his knee again, how she'd tell him he has to be strong to hit the world back when it hits him. So he did and hit the world back by doing things people knew he couldn't do.
Lotor finally pulled away and lances eyes fluttered open as the memories of his mother floated away with him.
"Thank you prince Lotor," Lance nodded looking up at him and Lotor returned the nod.
"Any time... Isamu,"
