Mystic Messenger: 707 (Saeyoung Choi)

A/N: Okay SO, I know I have like NO time to write or work on anything because of my job but I really had to write this...I've been playing Mystic Messenger and couldn't stand the way the MC was with Seven, as she wasn't like me at all, so I wrote a little scenario here where she acted more as I do.  It takes place during his route, when he comes to stay with you and protect you from the bomb in Rika's apartment, and the continuing threats from the hacker. I won't spoil anything else...even thought the game is like four years old...but yeah...I'll be working on the requests I got as soon as I can. I actually wrote this during work lol so I'm glad I'm working remotely, lest I get fired.

Aight so here we go:

"So...please...just..."

"I understand." You smiled, turning around and walking away. You crossed your legs as you flopped down on the sofa, cracking open a can of Dr. Pepper. "I won't intrude. You've made it clear you don't want me sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. Though..." You laughed, lightly, earnestly, oddly carefree despite your situation. "I don't think it's dangerous to get to know each other just for now. No strings, right? Once you leave you leave. I trust you."

"Don't." A young man with deep red hair sighed. "Don't...trust me..." He didn't face you. "I put you in danger."

You rolled your eyes, sipping your drink. It was good. It really did pair well with the chips he so adored.

"Saeyoung, stop beating yourself up. The real danger was me just leaping into this organization without a second thought. My roommate must be worried beyond belief."

He turned around, intrigued in spite of himself. "Roommate? You mean you..."

You laughed again before setting your soda down. "I did have a life before the RFA, you know. I can tell you about it..." He was starting to let his guard down. You smiled, noticing his slowly building interest in you. "Maybe it'll help with security?"

He shook his head. "I can't." He looked like he wanted to say anything but that. "I can't learn more about you. Please leave me alone."

You exhaled, mirroring his previous dejection. You recognised why he was denying your offers of friendship. Knowing you more might make him doubt, or even regret his isolation. He liked you...and you knew it. Still, it didn't keep you from thinking he might never actually let you in. "Can I say one thing, though? Please?" He nodded, despite of clear regret. "You took all your technology, brought your car, built me a cat robot-" You pointed beside you, at a small, white toy, shut off now after your command, "who only really listens to my voice, and have been here protecting me for days. You honestly believe that you don't deserve some respect for that? Or that I really believe you don't care about me? If you want to be alone, I won't bother you, but know, even if you never want to let me get to know you, or...anything...romantic..." you cleared your throat. "then know I will always want to be your friend, even if it is just until you know I'm safe."

He sighed again. "You have such a way with words. It reminds me of Rika. I don't deserve-"

"Oh my God, shut up!" You finally had enough of that. "Between you and V, it's...just..." you groaned, standing up and walking over to him. Still seated, he looked up at you, somewhat startled at your outburst. "Saeyoung, Seven, whatever you want to call yourself, don't blame yourself for something that wasn't your fault." You reached out a hand, placing it over his. Though he started to pull himself back, he let you touch him. "You built a detonator to protect some girl who's no longer here, and never thought anyone would use her place." You looked behind you. "Now, just do your work. I'll be here if you want to talk, but I won't bother you." You leaned down, and he let you. You weren't anticipating him to do that. He was never as harsh as you'd expect him to be, but that wasn't really uncommon for you. You typically hurled the first insult. Docility wasn't your strong-suit and Seven wasn't angry at your anger. You sensed a more submissive woman could meet a more irate and confused guy. Well, sucks for whoever that could be.

"What...{Y/N}..." he backed away. The swivel chair in which he was seated caught on the rug, somewhat locking him in place. "What are you?" Your lips, briefly, met the side of his face. You pulled back, smiling broadly.

"I'll leave you alone now. I just wanted to do that." He said nothing in reply for a few awkward, silent moments, but finally, after his breathing steadied, he was able to mutter something.

"You should be more careful around me. I'm not..." He couldn't finish. Again, you expected more hostility...but...maybe...

"Yo. Can I ask you a question?" You looked past him, out of the slim apartment window just behind the desk he was tirelessly affixed to, working hard without sleep, to catch the person out to hurt you, and those he loved. He nodded. "Are you scared of me?"

Seven's answer had come as a surprise...somewhat...you yawned, stretching your arms high in the air, groaning as your shoulder cracked. You needed to take Zen's advice and exercise more. Turning to your left, you took in your reflection in the nearby mirror. Lean, with long, pretty hair, you didn't need to do much to keep up a pleasant appearance, but still...your attention fell to the nightstand, atop which another bag of Honey Buddha Chips and a third can of Dr. Pepper rested. You laughed a bit as you wrapped a silk robe around you, flipping back the down comforter of the bed in the small bedroom of the flat of a dead girl. You wondered when the last time Rika had used it was...sliding in, tired, you closed your eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Hours later, you heard soft footsteps cross the floor, indicating the only other person staying with you had come in to see how you were doing. You knew it. You knew he cared. Closing your eyes more tightly, you did your best to feign sleep. It worked. A hand brushed your hair as you felt a pressure on the foot of the bed. He'd sat down beside you. You didn't move as he started to whisper. It was so hard not to smile.

"I'm sorry...for what I said..."

Your lips twitched. Don't. Don't smile.

"You're not too much...you're not too loud...but I meant it. You scare me. You terrify me, but not for the reasons you think." He sighed. "I like you, and I can't deny that you want to know me for who I am. You left me alone when I asked, but each time you were around me you were so smart...so aware of everything. I can't hope for you to stay with me. I can't have friends, or family...for real...my job..." you felt his hand again, and once more, did not give any indication you were awake. Glad for the fact you slept on your side, facing away from the entryway, you relaxed at the affectionate docility of his gesture. "I do want to get to know you, so so much, but you're going to be in danger if I do. So, I have to get you to hate me. When you kissed me it made me feel so..."

Screw it. You flipped over, and grabbed his collar, pulling him down to you. You didn't make a move, nothing physical, not yet, but made your point clear. "Don't lie to me like that, okay?"

He didn't pull away. "Lie? I..."

"Don't use those emotional tactics to get me to fight with you so I grow more distant, okay? You can get to know me. I told you, no strings attached. No long term commitment to friendship or love. I just need someone to be with me right now. I'm more scared than I let on."

"You heard what I said, then..." He sighed. "That I like you."

You let him go. "Yes." You sat up, rubbing your eyes. "I did." You sighed as well, growing more and more tired of the emotional gymnastics both of you were undergoing in your experience avoiding hackers and bombs and danger. "I like you, too, Saeyoung, and I made it very very clear that I like the real you. Honestly, forget the happy jokes and all that. I have my own dark side, and it doesn't bother me that you have one, too."

He shook his head. "See? This is what I mean!" He was louder than you'd expected. "I can't like you! I can't!"

"I understand." Your posture indicated nothing but compassion and agreement. "I get it."

"Then why are you still trying to be so nice to me?"

You deflected his question, posing your own. "Hey, can I ask you something kind of odd?"

"What?" He blinked. "Okay...sure." You could get him to comply. Perhaps you really were like Rika like that...convincing, good with your words. Possibly...she had her own demons as well. It seemed like everyone in the RFA did. Maybe it was a charity of broken people, desperately trying to help change the world, little by little.

"Can you sleep next to me?"

"No!" He stood up. "That's what I mean! I can't do the no attachment thing! I like you too..."

You got up, too, and smiled, placing your hand on his shoulder. "Saeyoung, it is okay. You don't have to be so-"

You honestly did not expect what happened next. After everything he'd said, after every wall he'd tried to erect to keep you out, he went and did the unexpected. Entwining his hand in your hair, he pulled you closer to him. You wrapped your arms around his neck, and kissed him back. After a few moments, you pulled away, and immediately laughed.

"Okay, so that's what you were trying to not do, eh?"

"Stop!" He pulled away. "Seriously how are you so..."

You rolled your eyes, turning away from him. "I know I'm good at manipulation. It's a skill, and a curse. Anyway, I'm gonna take a shower. I'll see you in an hour or so. Again, don't worry about anything after this. Just stay with me for now." You smiled, patting his head before trekking away, leaving him stunned into frustrated silence.

The time spent in Rika's apartment faded from memory over the next several days. You found out more and more about Seven, and his brother, and the truth about Rika, the RFA and everything about the wild world you'd immersed yourself in by crazy happenstance. You smiled as the wind blew through your hair, the sun shining happily down on the two of you, as you raced through the streets of the city center.

"So," leaned towards him, as he shifted gears. The low rumble of the sports car excited you unexpectedly as he smiled, happy for real this time. "I know you have something enjoyable planned for tonight. Care to let me in on the secret?"

He laughed. You hoped it'd take less time for him to come around, to regain some of his happier, more jovial self, but you knew reality for what it was. Even so, here, on a bright summer day, he'd shown himself again, and you felt as illuminating as the sun itself. "Not yet. All I'm going to say is that Vanderwood and Jumin agree on something for once."

"Are we staying in his penthouse?"

He groaned. "How did you know?!"

You laughed, too. "He took Elly away with him. I'm sure that was because you were going to show up. Plus, it's a secure building. I know the job transition will take some time. For now, hotels and stuff can wait until the mafia or Yakuza or any and all crime syndicates know nothing of 707."

"I love you."

"Woah! That came out of nowhere!" You laughed. "I mean..." you flipped your hair, coy as always. "I know I'm great and everything, but why the random devotion?"

"You're just so...vibrant, and to hear you not care...about the personality I had before..."

"Shut up, Saeyoung." You rolled your eyes, though he kept his securely on the road ahead. "I told you a thousand times you're fun enough as you are." You smirked. "And...we're going to have a lot of fun ruining Jumin's satin sheets, too, right?"

His laughter still, even then, brought on the strongest feeling of adoration you could ever know as your heart beat evermore strongly and rapidly. "You're lucky he likes you enough to permit a situation for even the chance of a thought like that to cross his mind." The light caught in Saeyoung's hair, and you found it hard to breathe for a minute. "Still, yes, I look forward to our night together. You are my fiancé."

"Yes!" You smiled, clapping your hands. "And we shall wed in the cathedral in one week!"

He smiled, and you did the same, before holding back a scream. He'd accelerated, very very quickly, and you had to clutch the side of your seat. You knew he was an excellent driver, but still, every time he drove like he did, each time he excitedly raced through the narrow streets of Seoul, you had to amp up your resolution to keep one final secret from him.

You hated fast cars. You hated them so so much. But still, for him...you'd ride to the ends of the earth and back, as you faced your fears together.

A/N: Yayyyy aight so I KNOW its not technically anime but whatever lol. I got sooooo behind at work while writing this.  Anyway, in the name of love, here's hoping this was cute enough.

If it hasn't been evidenced through most of my writing...I'm kind of aggressive. I like that, though, and in this...I guess he did too.

Okay I'm done! Have a good forever.
