Death Note: Light Yagami {"God's Birthday"}
☆WRITTEN IN JUNE OF 2018☆
A/N: Sooooooo I know this is like the THIRD thing with Light, though I claim to hate him.
Eh, whatever. It's about you spending some time at Christmas together! He's apparently nicer then.
It's in the normal plot of the anime/manga but I guess it'd be before he gets the Death Note, so, earlier in high school.

Hope you like it!

Glory to the light of the world
For all who wait
For all who hunger
For all who've prayed
For all who wonder
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel
You groaned, or more so, growled, stomping along behind your brother as you finished up the last of your shopping.
"Woah!" He replied. "What was that?" You halted in your tracks after he did, turning his face upwards. The mall had a map, detailing every angle of its five floors. It was enormous. You wanted to go home.
"I hate this song. It's such a stupid Christmas song! Who even knows it?"
"Father Finnegan, back in Belfast, more than likely." He nodded. "Let's go to the third floor. Doesn't your boyfriend need a tie?"
"He has a tie." You tried to ignore your sibling as he hummed along to the music. "He always wears that stupid red one."
"Oh come on, {Y/N}. It's God's birthday. Where's your holiday cheer?"
"I don't give a fuck if it's God's-" you stopped.
"Hey! {Y/N}!" You smiled. "What was that about God?"
"Hey, Light." You stepped forward as he held out his arms. Your brother pushed ahead, leaving you intentionally behind.
"Imma get Dad a tie instead!" He called back to you. "I'll meet you at three by the fake cops."
You laughed as he walked away before turning to ascend the giant escalator that looked more like a stairway to Heaven than a path to the next floor.
"Speaking of cops..." you glanced up, before your boyfriend prevented you from doing anything else but focus on him.

Oh oh
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The light of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders, of His love
And wonders, wonders, of His love
Joy to the world, now we sing
Let the earth receive her king
Joy to the world, now we sing
Let the angel voices ring
"Jeez. You'd think they could play it a little more quietly." You stirred a cup of hot cocoa with a stick crafted from peppermint.
"You're like Scrooge, {Y/N}." You glowered up at him. "Where's your Christmas spirit?"
"Back in Europe. It's so overhyped here!" You glanced at all the people around you, how they made a romantic display of what was meant to be a sacred holiday: the birth of Christ, the beginning of a Golden Age. "It was a big deal there, but not like this. It's as though everyone here thinks it's Valentine's Day!" You sighed. "Cant we go home, Light? My brother already left."
"Nope." He grinned as you continued frowning. "I'm going to see to it you like the way we celebrate the holidays in Tokyo. You can't pout all through December."
"I definitely can." You crossed you arms. "I plan on it, too."
"I won't let you." He smirked. "Come on. Let's go."
"Where?" He stood up, and you followed him, forsaking your half-finished drink. "Light!" He was fast. "Where are you taking me?"
"Anywhere you want!" He smiled, turning to laugh at you, struggling to keep up as you ran along behind him. "I'll buy you anything. I've got some extra money. Come ooonnn." He stopped. "Don't be such a downer."
"There are too many people in this world." You still simmered with an undercurrent of irritability. "Someone should start killing them off."
"Maybe they will." He shrugged. "The world's pretty terrible sometimes." You did grin then. "But until I'm presented with some magic list that can make me into an evil version of that guy," he nodded in the direction of the line to sit with Santa. It wrapped around the display in the centre of the complex three times. You shuddered. "No one's getting killed for having their name jotted down. A few sins won't hurt you." He stepped closer.
"Which ones?" You asked as you took a step back. "It makes a difference."
"Uh..." he played the fool. "Sex before marriage seems menial. Wanna see if it is?"
"No." You swatted his hand away. "Buy me something extravagant and overindulgent instead. That seems sufficient." He looked discouraged, but you were used to it. You rolled you eyes. "I'll give you your present later, okay?" You kissed him, quickly, on the cheek before turning to leave. He grabbed your wrist in his hand.
"No." He mimicked your voice. "I've got a better idea."
"But you said..."
"Let's go home, {Y/N}."
"Now?" You raised an eyebrow.
"We do have to make one stop first."

Red and green bows seemed to be everywhere as multicoloured lights twinkled above you. You sat, legs crossed, on a sofa, with arms around you, petting a small, black kitten.
"You didn't have to do that." It batted your hand with its paws each time you took it away. "It's not fair, getting me this."
"You like cats." He moved back, running a hand down the little thing's back as she purred. As he did so, she moved closer to him, finally curling up in a ball between the two of you. You leaned in, getting closer to him as well. "I got you what you liked."
"What should we name her?" You closed your eyes, as you felt a hand stroke your head, too. This was nice. Way better than the overcrowded super-mall.
"It's up to you."
"Hmm." You thought about it. "I honestly have no idea." You laughed, leaning further back into his embrace.
"Well, {Y/N}." Light yawned. "You'll think of something." You sighed, looking up at someone you couldn't believe was so nice. He was almost a Godsend. You were so lucky.
"I love you, Light Yagami*. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, {Y/N}, or, as {Brother's Name} called it, God's Birthday." He closed his eyes.
You cleared your throat, poorly, as you were tired. It'd been a long day. The sunset cast chestnut shadows on the excessively decorated walls. Though, it did little to dim the scene.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" The tiny cat raised its head as your boyfriend leaned forward, taking your face in his hands before ignoring anything else entirely. You laughed before kissing him, getting exactly what you wanted after all.
"Of course I love you too, {Full Name}."
You smiled, the sun glinting off the dark, shiny fur of your new pet, the best Christmas gift you could've asked for, as you fell asleep in the arms of the best thing that ever happened to you.

*a sentence I never thought I'd type out.
Welll that was cute. Here's what inspired it:
Interesting facts about SATAN, from Otaku Scents on Etsy. (They have a Light Candle).
Poor Ryuk.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that! Lemme know if there's anyone/any anime you're interested in seeing!
Happy eaaaaarly Christmas. I was gonna wait to write out this idea but I was like eh, screw it. My friend's sleeping. I'm bored.
Thanks for reading!
