Fili X Reader - Elves and Dwarves

Imagine you're and elf and you're lowkey dating Fili when Thorin finds out you overhear him tell Fili to end it.

I smile as I run my fingers through his long golden mane as his head lies propped up on my lap. It was considered taboo for an elf to have feelings for a dwarf but ever since I laid eyes on him in the Mirkwood dungeon I had become his. My father didn't know that I would sneak away to see Fili and neither did his uncle Thorin. Thorin had made it quite clear after Kili decided to marry my childhood friend Tauriel, that since Fili would be the next King under the mountain, he was to marry a dwarven lady. Fili, however, made it quite clear, to me, that he would love only me.

Looking from him, I glance up at the bright sky, close my eyes, and smile as the sunshine beams down upon my skin. It wouldn't be long until I had to return to Mirkwood and I didn't know when I would be able to come see him again. "What are you thinking about?" He asks causing me to look back down at him.

"Would it be corny to say I was thinking of you?" I ask a smile filling my lips.

"A little, but it's nice to know I'm on your mind." He says making me chuckle. I glance from him back toward the wood and let out a heavy sigh. "You don't want to go home?"

"It's not that," I say furrowing my brow.

"You worry he won't let you come back."

"I swear he is getting harder to handle by the day, I thought when we won the war the bad blood between our kin would be extinguished; but it's still there."

"I agree. When Kili married Tauriel I thought my uncles hate for your kind would diminish but it just seems that she is the exception." He says and I feel my heart clench. I knew the real reason Thorin wasn't too fond of me. It wasn't too hard to hide considering my father and he hated each other. I feel a rough hand touch my cheek and I look over into his sea blue eyes. "One day, I promise, he will love you like I do."

"That's sweet Fili, I only wish it were true." I reply as I lean forward to place my forehead against his.

"Amin mela lle," I say my hand intertwining with his.

"And I you Amrâlimê." He replies as he reaches up with his free hand and placing it on the back of my neck pulls my lips toward his. They meet in a fire of passion that lights up my entire body. His beard scratches my chin causing a chuckle to escape my lips. Smiling he pulls away and looking down into my eyes says, "Are you ticklish love?"

"No..." I say my tone turning serious. "Elves are not ticklish."

"Oh really?" He asks a devious smile filling his handsome face.

"Fili... don't you dare." I warn him but he just smiles as he leans down and drags his beard across my cheek and neck making me laugh uncontrollably. "Stop! Fili! Please... Hahahahaha. I can't breathe!" I cry out as I try to free myself from his grasp.

"Say you'll marry me and I'll stop." He says and I freeze, all sense of our joke leaving my face.

"Are you serious?" I ask my heart lifting in my chest.

"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't mean it."

"But your uncle..."

"I'll talk with my uncle." He says his eyes filling with hope.

"Even if he agreed, my father never would." I say my heart clenching.

"Then you don't want to marry me?" He says as he pulls away from me his brows furrowing.

"I never said that Fili, I would love to marry you," I say as I reach out for him.

"Then why are you so afraid of your father?"

"And you're not afraid of your uncle?" I ask pulling my arms back to myself. "Fili, even if they didn't agree I would marry you in a heartbeat. I just worry that..."

"I know your worries, but you needn't worry about my succession. I would rather be a normal Dwarf and have you in my life, than a King without you." He says as he cups my cheek.

"I know," I say as I reach up and grab his hand. I go to say more when a loud voice brings me back to the present, "(Name)! Mani nae lle umien?" (What have you been doing?) I turn toward the voice to see my older brother Legolas staring at Fili and I with an angry look on his face.

"Legolas, Mankoi naa lle sinome?" (Why are you here?)

"Adar iqista-el în I thamas." (Father requests you in the great hall.) He replies his eyes narrowing angrily at Fili.

"Tulien," (Coming.) I reply my eyes shooting back to Fili whose eyes were fixed on mine.

"Are you alight?" He asks and I nod.

"My father is here, he wants to see me in the great hall." I say as I push myself up to my feet.

"The Great Hall? Then I should go with you." He replies as he starts to climb to his feet.

"If they see us together it will end badly." I state and he clenches his jaw.

"Your brother saw us." He says making me glance over at Legolas.

"He is easier to deal with than my father." I say giving Fili a quick smile. "Amin nauva auta yeste'" (I will go first.)

"I shall follow." He says and I give him a soft smile before I walk away from him and over to my angry brother.

"Muinthil," (Sister) He says his voice thick with anger.

"Mani?" (What?) I ask as I pass by him.

"Mani naa lle umien? E ach a Naugrim!" (What are you doing? He is a Dwarf!) Legolas says as he follows behind me matching me step for step.

"Im sinta e ist a Naugrim!" (I know he's a Dwarf!) I reply angrily, wanting nothing more than to end this conversation.

"Car-d mel-huin?" (Do you love him?) He asks making me stop in my tracks my eyes meeting his as they plead for him to understand.

"Amin mela huin." (I love him.) I answer honestly making his eyes fill with worry.

"Naa lle hwiniol? Adar innas Ndengina ho." (Are you mad? Father will kill him.)

"Amin sinta. Uuma pent ma Adar. Amin innas ped-ma huin ir elwe lesta." (I know. Don't say anything to father. I will talk to him when we leave.)

"Amin car-al-iest ma can-lle mala." (I do not wish to see you hurt.)

"Amin sinta, Amin mela lle hanar." (I know, I love you brother.) I say as I gently place my hand on his shoulder. "I know what I am doing."

"I hope so." He says before he pulls away and starts walking back toward the mountain and our father.

~~~~~~~
I stand next to my brother behind our father as he and Thorin talk business. My mind drifts to earlier and Fili's proposal and what it would really mean for our families. The Dwarves would never accept an Elven princess as their queen just like the Elves would never accept a dwarf. I loved him, I truly did but were we strong enough to make it work?
"That concludes our business. I will send word when we are to meet again." Thorin says pulling me from my thoughts.
"Very well, if you'll excuse us." My father says as he gives Thorin a brief bow and then turns to leave. "(Name), Legolas, let us return."
"Yes Adar," We say in unison as we follow suit with our bows and then follow after him. As we leave the hall I see Fili walking inside and as our eyes briefly meet we smile at each other. He walks past us into the Great Hall and I suddenly wish I could have said goodbye to him.
"Ah (Name), I left something, a document in the Great Hall, will you retrieve it for me?" Thranduil asks and I nod.
"Of course, Adar," I turn from him and am about to walk back in when I hear Thorin yell angrily causing me to freeze in my place.
"Fili, have you gone mad, you cannot marry an Elf. You are my heir, you must marry a Dwarf and succeed me."
"But uncle I wish to marry (Name), why was Kili allowed to marry an Elf and I am not."
"Because he is not my heir." Thorin states firmly and I feel my throat go dry.
"You always tell us to follow our hearts, why won't you let me?"
"Because your heart is leading you to an elf, and not just any Elf, Thranduil's own daughter. Are you mad?"
"I can't help that I love her uncle. If I can't have her then I do not wish to be king."
"You speak nonsense Fili; do you not know what your actions will do? You will cause a war between us yet again."
"You don't know that for sure uncle."
"I know King Thranduil would likely kill his own offspring than allow them to marry a dwarf."
"I love her uncle."
"Love is fleeting, you will do as I say and marry someone of my choosing." Thorin says and I fight the urge to cry.
"Uncle I cannot leave (Name)." Fili says and I silently fight with my heart to do the right thing.
"She will be fine; her kin will take care of her. Just as yours will do the same for you."
"But,"
"No objections Fili, I am your king above all else and I am giving you a command. You will forget this little love and fulfill your duty as a prince under the mountain, am I understood?"
"Yes, my lord," Fili replies and my heart breaks. I feel someone touch my arm and I look back to see my brother standing next to me his eyes filled with concern. "I will retrieve the document in your stead." He says and I nod as I turn and using all the strength I can muster leave the great hall and return to my father's side. As I reach him I can sense him looking at me in concern but I just ignore him. The faster we left Erebor the better. It only took a few seconds for Legolas to return to us a rolled-up piece of parchment in his grasp.
"Thank you, Legolas," Thranduil says as he takes it from my brother and starts to walk toward the stables once again. Before we reach it, I hear a familiar female voice call out my name and I stop. Turning toward the voice I see Tauriel smiling brightly as she walks over to me.
"Mae Govannen Tauriel," I say when she reaches me.
"Mae Govannen (Name), are you leaving?" She asks and I nod. "Nér lle men ma Namaarie?" (Were you going to say goodbye?)
"Amin naa ma namaarie si." (I am saying farewell now.)
"Al-ma lle. Ma huin." (Not to me. To him.) She says as she motions with her eyes back the way we had come.
"Amin ind al. An ta innas na-methen tul-amin agor." (I can't. For it will be final if I do.) I say unable to look back toward him.
"Mankoi?" (Why?) She asks her eyes filling with confusion.
"Namaarie mellonamin, Amin agor lá-nov-amin tol-ma sinomë ad." (Farewell my friend, I do not think I shall ever return to this place again.) I say as I offer her a forced smile before following my father.
"(Name)," She calls after me but I do not dare turn back. When we reach the stables, our horses are already saddled and ready for us to leave. My brother hands me the reigns to a silver mare and I find that I cannot meet his gaze. "Thank you," I say as I take the reins and placing my foot in the stirrup pull myself into the saddle. I keep my gaze away from the emerald colored gates as the rest of our party pull themselves into their saddles.
"Muinthel," I hear Legolas say and I turn toward him to see his eyes filled with concern. "Naa lle mae?" (Are you all right?)
"Amin mae." (I am fine.) I say forcing a smile. His brow furrows and I know I haven't convinced him of anything. He is about to say something when I interrupt him by saying, "Amin nauva auta yeste'," (I will go first.) I give my mare a kick and I don't bother waiting for anyone else as I surge away from our group. I ride as fast as her legs will take me away from Erebor and toward the wood. I needed to be alone. I contemplate bypassing the Woodland Realm completely and heading as far west as I can but I knew my father would do whatever it took to get me back.
~~~~~~~~

"Hiril vuin, mann naa buia." (My lady, dinner is served.) A male voice says from the other side of my door and I let out a heavy sigh.

"Tulien," I say as I push myself up off my bed and head for the door. It had been weeks since I left Erebor and I still hadn't regained my composure. Legolas had followed me around like a worried mother as he constantly asked me if I was okay. It got to the point where I threatened to lock myself in my room if he didn't leave me alone. It worked like a charm. Now he only asks me every other day. I smile as I think about how lucky I was to have such a loving brother like him.

As I open my door, I am greeted by Innor who is standing perfectly straight in front of me holding a piece of paper. "What is this?" I ask as he hands it to me.

"A letter from Erebor My lady," He replies before giving me a quick bow and heading back toward the dining hall. I stare down at the piece of parchment in my hands and contemplate opening it but instead I toss it into a drawer without so much as reading it. Taking a deep breath, I find my composure and head for the dining hall and as I reach it I hear familiar voices and I freeze. Kili and Tauriel were here. No one had mentioned that they were coming, or if someone had I hadn't exactly paid attention.

I walk into the dining hall to see the two of them sitting side by side across from my brother and I gulp down a breath of air. It wasn't a secret that my brother had once loved Tauriel but she only ever had eyes for Kili, her dwarven prince. Gulping down a breath of air I walk over and sit down next to my brother. "Mae govannen (Name)." Kili says with a smirk on his lips and I nod slightly as I say, "Mae Govannen Kili, Tauriel."

"We missed you at the ceremony," Kili says and i swear my heart stopped.

"Ceremony?" I ask a knot swelling in my chest.

"My brother's engagement party." Kili says and I feel my heart crush completely forcing all hints of an appetite from my mind.

"Really? Well, be sure to send him my congrats, will you?" I say as I try not to lose my composure completely.

"We were hoping you could come to the wedding." Tauriel says and I grip tightly to the fork in my hand.

"Unfortunately, my sister and I will be in Imladris for a council meeting around then." Legolas says saving me and I let out sigh of relief without being seen.

"That's a shame, my brother was looking forward to seeing you again." Kili says a frown filing his face.

"Perhaps we will visit later, after their honeymoon." Legolas says his hand finding mine under the table and holding it tightly. All the sudden my stomach starts to churn and my free hand instantly shoots up to cover my mouth. "(Name)?" Legolas asks in concern as his hand tightens on mine. I feel the contents of my stomach start to make their way back up my throat and in an instant I leap from my seat and run out of the dining room as I head toward the bathroom.

Reaching the toilet, I instantly empty my stomach into it. It wasn't long before both Tauriel and Legolas joined me one patting my back as the other held my hair back. After a few minutes, Legolas looks to Tauriel and says, "Go get my father,"

"Right," She says as she pushes herself to her feet and heads off down the hall.

"Are you all right?" He asks and I shake my head.

"Do I look all right?"

"I meant about that dwarven prince?" He asks and as if that was a cue word my stomach heaves.

"I don't want to talk about it." I say a cough leaving my lips.

"It must have been a surprise."

"Please stop!" I plead tears starting to sting my eyes. Bonus of throwing up, I could blame my tears on it.

"But you loved him, it must hurt."

"Of course, it hurts! I love him so much it is killing me, but we can never be together. I'm a stupid girl who went and fell in love with the one person she was never meant too. Then I-" I pause as I remember something very important. "You can't let Ada in here." I say panic filling my eyes.

"You didn't." Legolas says sensing where I was going with my words.

"I'm sorry," I say tears filling my eyes.

"You have nothing to be sorry for." Legolas says his arms wrapping tightly around me. "You loved him, it's only natural to want to be with him."

"It's only natural to be with who?" I hear my father's voice say causing fear to fill my body.

"No one Adar," Legolas says as he lifts me into his arms and carries me from the bathroom toward my own.

"I know what ailment she has." Thranduil says making Legolas stop in his tracks. "I know what grows in her stomach."

"You knew?" Legolas asks as he turns back to face our father.

"You think lightly of me Legolas, there is not much that happens that I do not know about."

"You knew she was in love with the dwarf so you sent her in there to hear their conversation?"

"I did, (Name) need to know how the dwarves live their lives. Unfortunately, I was too late to prevent them from creating what lies in her stomach."

"How could you?" He says anger filling his voice. "I thought you might treat your own kin better than this but I was mistaken." Legolas turns and starts to walk away when Thranduil says, "That child will be hated no matter where you go. It will serve as a reminder of your mistakes."

"You're wrong Adar," Legolas says without looking back. "Even if it's just (Name) and I, we will love this child."

~~~~~~~~~
"Is this all of it?" Tauriel asks as she takes one of my bags from me.
"It is," I reply as I take one last look at my childhood room. So many memories were now tainted by the fact that my father knew what I had done. He was disappointed in me for falling for a dwarf and he hated the child growing inside me. I glance at the drawer where I had stashed the letters I had received from Fili and contemplate leaving them behind but I couldn't. Even though they were all still sealed I couldn't leave them with my father.
Opening the drawer, I reach in and grabbing them place them inside the bag I was carrying myself. Then letting out a heavy sigh I walk out of my room to the hallway where Tauriel and Legolas were waiting for me. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Legolas asks and I nod.
"I can't live where my child will be hated for being different. I want them to know only love not hatred." I answer as he takes my bag from me.
"Then let us be off." Legolas says and I nod.
"Are you sure you still want to go with me?" I ask him and he nods.
"There is nothing for me here now." He says and my heart clenches.
As we walk through the halls toward the gate I glance back to see my father staring off after us with a sad expression on his face and my heart clenches. "I'll meet you at the gate." I say as I turn and practically run back into my father's arms. "Amin mela lle Adar." I say as his arms grip tightly to me.
"Cormamin niuve tenna' ta elea lle au'." (My heart shall weep until it sees thee again.) He says causing tears to fill my eyes.
"I will come back one day." I say as I pull away and look up into his tiffany blue eyes.
"I will be here." He says as he gently places a kiss on my forehead.
Reluctantly I turn away and walk away from my father and without looking back I head for the gate. upon reaching it my brother offers me a knowing smile and I give him one back. "Shall we be off?" I ask and Tauriel nods.
"Kili is waiting on the outskirts of the wood with a cart that will take us where we want to go." Tauriel says and I nod. "He also sent a letter to his brother."
"What?" Both Legolas and I say in unison.
"Kili wanted to make sure his brother knew where he would be, just in case something happened." Tauriel says and I feel my throat tighten.
"Did he mention?" I place a hand on my stomach and she shakes her head.
"He only said he was helping you move. That was all." She says and I feel relieved.
"Does he know this child is his nephew or niece?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"I hate lying to him but I am doing this as a favor to you."
"Hopefully you won't have to lie to him much longer." I say apologetically and she smiles.
"He'll understand later, he doesn't even know the two of you liked each other."
"I fear what will happen if Fili ever finds out I am hiding this from him." I say to myself as we make our way through the wood to where Kili waited patiently.
~~~~~~~

"Do you like this place?" Kili asks as he helps Tauriel and Legolas bring the bags into the small little cabin.

"I do," I say as I move to sit in a chair and catch my breath.

"It's not very big." Legolas says and I chuckle.

"Well it can't be like home now can it."

"Unfortunately," He says and I roll my eyes. A sudden commotion outside pulls our attention from the inside to the out. The four of us walk outside to see a group of familiar faces riding up to the house.

"I wonder what they're doing here." Kili says in confusion. I find a familiar silhouette and I can feel my throat tighten. Legolas, standing beside me, wraps his arm protectively around my waist to give me additional emotional support. As they reach up Kili smiles as he says, "Brother, what brings you hear?"

"Unfinished business Kili." Fili says as he hops down from his pony and walks up to me. His eyes were filled with a mixture of worry and anger. Especially when his eyes droop down to my stomach. "Can I speak to you in private?" He asks me and I nod.

"Come inside," I say as I pull away from my brother and walk back into the cabin followed closely by Fili. When we are inside and alone I turn to him and try my best to hold my composure. "What do I owe the privilege?"

"I received a letter from a surprising person who told me that you were pregnant." He says and I nod. I motion down to my stomach and say, "As you can see, it's true."

"This person also said that you were pregnant with my child." He says and my eyes widen. "Is that true?"

"I don't know what they told you, but they were mistaken." I lie as I walk over to my bag and start to empty its contents onto the table.

"Why would your own father lie to me?" He says and my heart drops. I turn back to him with wide eyes and he continues, "Why did you not say anything?"

"How could I?" I ask as my eyes leave his and return to my belongings. "You're getting married, a one night stand with an Elf should mean nothing in regards to that."

"Is that all it was to you?" He asks pain lacing his voice.

"Of course, it wasn't," I say tears stinging my eyes. "I love you Fili. That's never going to change."

"But you won't be with me?" He asks and I grit my teeth.

"I can't."

"Your father has already given his blessing." He says making my heart lift in my chest.

"There's no way he would." I say in disbelief.

"Would you like to read his letter?" He asks and I shake my head. I didn't need to read it to know that Fili was telling the truth.

"What about your uncle and your fiancé?" I ask placing a hand over my stomach.

"You obviously didn't read my letters, did you?" He asks and I look down at the pile of them unopened.

"I couldn't." I say as I reach into my bag and pulling them out set them on the table.

"At least you didn't destroy them." He says as he closes the distance between us. "Read them," He says and I shake my head.

"I don't need to read them to know how you feel about me Fili."

"If you had read them, you would learn that I called off my wedding." He says and my head snaps toward him and a mixture of worry and surprise in my eyes. "My uncle, saw how much loosing you tormented me. I couldn't function, I was worthless in battle as well as in my duties. He gave me his blessing to be with you. If you had just opened the letters you would have known."

"How was I to know?" I ask as I collapse into a chair.

"When you didn't reply to any of my letters I thought you didn't want to be with me, I sent Kili to your home to tell you I was getting married and he was to tell me what your reaction to it was. He wrote that it made you physically ill. I was worried about you but I couldn't face you either. Not after I learned that you overheard my uncle and I talking that day."

"Did my father tell you that as well?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"It came from the last person possible, your brother."

"Legolas?" I ask in confusion and he nods a smirk filling his face.

"He threatened to skin me alive and hang my carcass from the rafters if ever hurt you."

"Sounds like something he'd say." I say a smirk filling my face.

"So Amrâlimê, for the last time I ask," He kneels on one knee a smile filling his lips. "Will you marry me?"

"I would love too." I reply tears filling my eyes. He smiles brightly as his arms shoot out to wrap around my neck.

"I take it we're loading everything back into the wagon?" Kili asks from the doorway and I chuckle. Fili smiles as he turns from me to Kili and says, "Don't worry little brother, it won't take too long." As they start to reload the wagon I place a hand over my stomach and smile to myself.

"Ná lle gelir?" (Are you happy?) My brother asks and I smile up at him.

"Amin naa." (I am.)

"Quel, ro pol-cuinar." (Good, he can live.) He replies causing me to smile.

"He'll be a good father." I say as I take Legolas's hand in mine.

"I have no doubt." Legolas says his hand gripping mine tightly.

~~~~~~~
"Naneth!" I hear my young son yell out in fear and I turn toward his voice to see him running in fear from his younger cousin Gamile chases after him. I smile as he runs over to me and lifts his arms up into the air signaling me to pick him up. Lifting him into my arms he turns to his cousin and sticks his tongue out. "You can't tag me now!"
"That's cheating Nunden!" Gamile cries his hazel eyes narrowing at his cousin. He looked so much like his father it wasn't even funny, with his long black hair. "Aunt (Name), tell Nunden he can't do that!"
"Nunden, are you cheating?" I ask as I look into my son's icy eyes.
"No," He replies and I cock and eyebrow at him.
"Then if I hold you down and let Gamile tickle you will you still say no?" I warn and his eyes widen before he says, "Elves aren't ticklish."
"Ah but you forget my boy," Fili says as he walks into the room Kili following shortly behind him. "You are also a dwarf, and they are very ticklish." Fili wiggles his eyebrows and I bite my lip to keep from laughing.
"I was lying Naneth," Nunden says his eyes returning to mine. "Please don't let him tickle me."
"Remember Nunden, it is always better to tell the truth. Even if it is over something as small as this."
"Yes Naneth." He says and I smile as I set him back down on his feet.
"Now go play, and be careful!" I call after him as he runs through the hall his silver hair shimmering in the sunlight as it catches it. My father had been wrong about everyone hating my son for his parentage. Everyone in Erebor loved him along with Gamile like they were any other dwarf. It probably had something to do with the fact that they were both prince's, but I took it either way. I glance down at my husband and smile as he takes my hand in his.
"I'll leave you two," Kili says a knowing smile on his lips as he turns and heads off after the children.
"Your brother sends word," Fili says as he starts to lead me from the room.
"Oh?" I ask as I follow after him.
"Your father wishes to visit his grandson. He'll be here in a day or so." He says and I smirk.
"Get ready for dirty looks and snide comments." I say and he smirks.
"Nothing I'm not used too." He says a smile covering his lips.
"I love you Fili," I say gripping tightly to his hand.
"I love you too Amrâlimê,"
