Bucky's POV

He looks over at the young girl lying next to him in bed and smiles as he gently runs his hand through her hair. Today was the dinner with her family and he was feeling extremely nervous about it. Bucky sighs as she looks up into his eyes her (E/C) shining back at him. "I guess we should get ready," She says as she pulls away from him and stands up. The light instantly reflects off her skin making her look like a goddess and he smirks.

"You know you're beautiful don't you?"

"I do, but hearing from you makes it even better," She says as she leans back over the bed to kiss him. Smiling he reaches up and intertwines his fingers in her hair deepening their kiss. She smiles into his lips before pulling away from him saying, "Come on Buck,"

He throws his head back letting out a groan as his head hits the pillows. "Alright, let's do this." He jumps out of bed and quickly dresses in his best suit, which of course Steve loaned him, and comes his hair back neatly using a hair tie to hold it back. He looks over to see (Name) standing in front of the mirror fixing her makeup which he assured her every time she applied it that she didn't need it, and smiles. Today was the day, he had rehearsed his lines so many times and after a push from Steve had decided that he was going to ask (Name)'s father for her hand. He wanted to wake up every morning with her next to him. He was pulled from his thoughts when she walked into the room wearing a beautiful midnight blue maxi dress that had a low v-cut neckline and a slit up to the middle of her thigh.

"You look beautiful," he says as he walks over to her and wraps his arms around her waist.

"You're one to talk," She says a smile covering her lips. "You in a suit, is very sexy." He chuckles as he pulls away from her and holds his arm out to her. She locks arms with him and smiles as he leads her out of their shared apartment and down the stairs of their apartment building to their car parked outside.

Saturday morning jumped out of bed

And put on my best suit

Upon arrival Bucky jumps from his seat throwing his door open and running around to open hers for her. She smirks at him as she steps out of the car and waits patiently for him to join her before walking up the stairs into her parent's front door. Bucky takes a deep breath before he instantly feels a hand grasp his fingers interlocking with his. Looking down he sees her small hand holding tightly to his and he smiles. "Are you ready?" she asks and he nods. She reaches up and knocking on the door waits for someone to answer.

Bucky starts to fidget next to her causing her to instantly squeeze his hand reassuringly as she gives him a soft smile. The door swings open and his eyes instantly meet that of (Name)'s fathers. He was a tall man, really tall, with salt and pepper hair and a surprisingly muscular build. "Hi Daddy," (Name) says as she walks over and wraps her arms around the man's neck.

"Hi pumpkin," He says as he smiles his arms wrapping tightly around her small frame. Bucky gulps down a breath of air as he fidgets in his footsteps. "Who's this?" Her father says as (Name) pulls away from him.

"This is James Buchanan Barnes, my boyfriend." She replies as a bright smile covers her lips making his heart raise in his chest.

"Nice to meet you sir," Bucky says as he unconsciously holds his metal hand out to him.

"Likewise, welcome to our home." He takes his hand and gives it a quick shake before he instantly pulls his hand from Bucky's and turns back to his daughter, he pulls her into the house and Bucky takes a deep breath before he follows after her. She instantly pulls away from her father and turning back to Bucky she moves to his side taking his hand in hers as she uses her free hand to close the door. (Names)'s father looks Bucky up and down before motioning for them to follow him.

"Come on Bucky," (Name) says as she glances up lovingly at him. He returns his smile before following close beside her into the parlor where everyone was waiting. (Name) quickly introduces him to everyone starting with her sister Marie who he had already met on several other occasions. Then they moved to Friends of the family before finally ending up back with her father and mother.

"So this is the infamous Bucky (Name) has been telling me about," Her mother says as she holds her hand out to him. He quickly takes her hand as she continues, "I'm Marion, her mother; and I take it you've already met my husband John."

"Yes ma'am," He replies before Marion gently squeezes his hand.

"Good, shall we head to the dining room for dinner?" She asks and (Name) nods.

"Sir," Bucky says making John stop and turn toward him. "Can I talk to you for a second?" Bucky asks him as everyone else walks into the dining room. John nods and folding his arms over his chest and once they are alone he says, "What did you need?"

"Sir, I wanted to ask for your permission to marry your daughter."

Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life?

John looks him in the eyes before glancing back and forth and between Bucky and the dining room before he says, "No."

"What?" Bucky asks his heart dropping.

"I said no, you don't have my blessing." He says as he turns and walks away from Bucky and into the dining roll leaving Bucky to stare at where her father used to be standing

Tough luck, my friend, but the answer is 'No'

Bucky's head was reeling, her father had said no. Bucky looks down at the floor for a moment before he takes a deep breath and says, "I'll ask him again after dinner, and if he still says no. I'm gonna marry her anyway."

"Bucky?" (Name) says pulling him from his thoughts. He turns to see her looking at him worriedly before she says, "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, Darlin," He says as he forces a smile and walking over to her leans down and places a kiss on her forehead. "I was just thinking."

"Oh shit, should I be worried?" She says playfully making him smile for real.

"No," He says his smile turning into a smirk, "Or at least not right now." He continues as he lets her pull him into the dining room where her whole family was seated and waiting. (Name) pulls me over to sit beside her and sigh inwardly as I realize it's right next to her father.

As the dinner goes on (Name)'s sister chimes out, "Hey dad did you know Bucky works with the Avengers?"

"Really?" John says without looking up from his food.

"Yeah, he's childhood friends with Captain America." Marie continues trying to help Bucky out.

"That would make you what ninety-something?" He replies making Bucky's foot fidget under the table.

"Ninety-eight, actually," Bucky retorts quickly locking eyes with the older man.

"Don't you think you're a little old for (Name)," John says quickly.

"Dad!" (Name) exclaims from beside me and I can tell she is getting angry.

"Biologically I'm Twenty-eight." Bucky retorts.

"Aren't you lucky,"

"Alright that's enough!" (Name) replies angrily as she tosses her silverware down onto her plate causing me to turn toward her. "What's your problem with Bucky?" She asks her dad her eyes filled with anger.

"I don't like him," He father replies folding his arms over his chest.

"Oh really, and why not?" She asks her voice elevated.

"For one look at him,"

"I am and I see nothing wrong with him."

"He has a metal arm (Name)!"

"So what he has a metal arm?"

"That's not normal,"

"He's not normal and that's one of the things I love about him."

"He's killed people." Her father says bluntly and the entire room goes quiet.

"Did... Did you look into his history?" (Name) says angrily.

"Of course I did," he quickly retorts.

"How dare you," She says jumping to her feet and slamming her hands on the table.

"(NAME)!" Her mother yells out but (Name) just holds her hand up to her mother and says, "I know full well what he did before he met me, because he's told me. Bucky is not that person anymore and if you can't accept that then I guess I can't accept being a part of this family." She then turns to Bucky and holding out her hand to him says, "Come on,"

"Yes ma'am," He says quickly as he takes her hand and jumping from his seat follows after her.

"(Name)!" Her father yells but she doesn't stop.

"(Name)," Bucky says as they reach the front door and she quickly turns toward him, he could quickly tell that she was on the verge of tears.

"Bucky, I'm sorry about that." She says as she looks back up at him.

"Don't worry doll," He says as he pulls his keys from his pocket and handing them to her says, "I'll be out in a second."

"What are you gonna do?"

"I'm just gonna thank them for inviting us and say goodbye that's it,"

"Okay," She says as she leans up and places a kiss on his lips before turning and walking out the door. Bucky takes a deep breath before he walks back into the dining room to see a room full of questioning glances. He turns toward (Name)'s father and says, "Sir, I understand that you do not believe that I am good enough for your daughter and you're right." Her father slowly turns to look at him before standing. "(Name) is a wonderfully beautiful woman, kind, strong, compassionate, and at times scary." Bucky chuckles before he continues, "I know I have done a lot of bad in my past but even knowing that she loves me, I would never hurt her and I know that she knows that. She gives me something to strive for every day. I love her and with or without your blessing I'm going to marry her."

The whole room erupts in cries of encouragement but her father doesn't move.

"I would rather have your blessing because I know how much your opinion means to (Name) but even if you don't give it I'm still gonna ask her."

"That's too bad," Bucky says as he lets out a sigh, "I guess I don't need your permission anyway. I'll make sure to hand deliver your invitation." He quickly turns and without another word walks out to the car where (Name) is waiting patiently.

"What happened?" She asks her eyes filled with concern.

"Nothing, are you still hungry?" He asks a smirk covering his lips.

"Starving," She replies as a smile covers her lips.

"Pancakes?" He asks and she chuckles as she says, "Only if you make them."

Bucky and her sit on the roof of the Avengers tower laughing and eating pancakes while sipping their beers when he looks over at her and seeing her smile his heart jumps in his chest. Suddenly her smile fades as she says, "I'm sorry about tonight."

"Why?"

"Because of my dad,"

"Don't worry, if you were my daughter I wouldn't want you dating a guy like me either."

"Oh really?" She asks as she raises an eyebrow.

"Yup, definitely wouldn't let you marry him either," He replies a smirk filling his lips.

"Oh well, I'd do it anyway." She says as she smiles over at him. "That is if he ever asked me." Bucky smirks as he reaches down into his coat pocket and stealthily pulls out a small velvety box. He stands up and walking over to her kneels down on one knee in front of her, her eyes widen and her hand instantly moves to cover her mouth as he says, "(Y/F/N) (Y/L/N) I have loved you from the very moment I laid eyes on you. You were a bright light in my otherwise dark and gloomy world. I could never imagine my life without you. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

"You're not worried about my dad?" She says as she pulls her hand down.

"Nope, I wanna marry you." I say quickly before I smile and continue, "I love you."

"I love you too Bucky!" She exclaims as she throws her arms around his shoulders.

"So?" He asks and she pulls away tears of joy filling her eyes.

"Of course you old man," She calls out and his face lights up. "God I'd follow you anywhere!"

"I'm glad to hear that," he says as she holds her hand out for him to put the ring on her. "But I could have lived without the old man part."

"Well to bad, cause it's true." She says as she admires the simple yet elegant ring on her finger.

Bucky stands at the front of the church waiting patiently for (Name) to walk down the aisle his nerves getting the better of him as he fidgets uncontrollably. He felt bad that her father had refused to come and walk her down the aisle but she had reassured him many times that it was alright. In the end she ended up asking Tony, who instantly said yes. He also had offered to pay for everything as long as he was able to throw Bucky a bachelor party.

The piano starts to play the wedding song and Bucky's attention is instantly drawn from his thoughts as he looks up to see (Name) walking side by side with Tony and even though her face was still covered by a veil he could tell she was smiling. Tony whispers something into her ear and she lets out a loud laugh. When she reaches him the Officiator says, "Who gives this woman to this man?"

"The Avengers do," Tony yells out and Bucky smirks as (Name) burst out laughing. Bucky reaches forward and takes her from Tony and she turns slightly to hand her bouquet to Natasha before she smiles up at him. "Any regrets Barnes?" She asks raising an eyebrow at him playfully.

"None," He replies smirking at her.

"Good," She says matter of fact-ly and his smirk turns into a bright smile.

The ceremony is quick and as the Officiator announces them man and wife (Name) reaches up and grabbing his collar pulls his lips down to hers making the entire room holler out in joy. "GET SOME!" Sam yells out making (Name) chuckle into his lips. He pulls away momentarily and asks, "Are you happy?"

"I couldn't be happier, I love you Bucky,"

"I love you too (Name)."
