"hey why the fuck are you crying??"

jeno's head snaps up from his phone to face donghyuck who was crouched in the far corner of the room while jeno was leaning up against the wall sitting on an empty box.

the room was fairly small, but there was enough space for jeno and donghyuck to be separated because if not, there was a large chance they'd neat each other up. and though jeno wasn't a very aggressive person, this would definitely rile him up.

with a shake of his head, jeno wipes at his face with the back of his hand and sighs, "nothing. was just reading something." he murmurs and donghyuck has the urge to scoff, but keeps it within himself.

"what? this about jaemin again? all you ever do is cry over him." donghyuck blows the small curl from under his hat out of his face, jeno frowning over at him.

"i hope you know not everything in my life revolves around jaemin like yours," jeno shuts his phone off and holds it in his lap tightly as if something would come and swoop it out of his hands.

donghyuck can only raise an eyebrow, curious to what he was going to say next.

"i love jaemin, sure. he's a priority. but i'm not obsessed over him like you."

there's a small silence, and donghyuck has to take a deep breath before he unconsciously says something that would get him in a lot of trouble, that, and because maybe jeno was right as much as he hated to admit that to himself.

the word 'obsessed' didn't settle right with him though for it made it sound like he was a stalker. that of which he wasn't, he was just in love.

or was he?

jeno looks down at his feet and sighs, "i know it was you who sent the messages from jaemin's phone. you have a way with words, and you cuss every ten seconds. we assumed it was chenle, but chenle doesn't seem like the type to do that. sort of a dirty tactic considering the fact this was supposed to be fair."

"and it was fair!"

"donghyuck, you took advantage of his phone being unlocked and used it to torment me." jeno spits, looking back up from the floor towards donghyuck who was biting down on his lip, "must've been funny seeing me panic like a chicken with its head cut off."

there's another small silence, the voices of people and the music from outside the door blaring louder than before. there were conversations about anything, jeno specifically catching one about cereal and how frosted flakes were better than honey nut cheerios. he snorts internally.

when donghyuck feels as if he can't take the silence anymore, he abruptly stands up and jeno has to look back over to him from the door with his head tilted to the side. "in truth, it was entertaining seeing you panic like that." he mutters, "but i hope you know i only did that because there was no fucking way i was going to win with jaemin attached to you by the hip like that."

"yeah? it's not my fault he grew onto me and wanted to be with me over you." jeno too stands up, and he would've been face to face with donghyuck if he wasn't 2 inches taller than him. "sometimes, i like to assume you have a god complex, lee donghyuck."

"god complex?! how??" donghyuck looks up at jeno who's rolling his eyes.

"you see something you like, you absolutely have to have it, and you see yourself above everyone else." jeno says, "now answer me this, are you really in love with jaemin? or are you only in love with him because he was some sort of forbidden fruit you absolutely needed to have and once you got it, you'd throw him out cause you're not interested in him anymore?"

"delusional admiration or were you just in love with the idea with him because jaemin gave you attention above all of your other friends? or have you decided to turn a blind eye on the people who truly love you; take chenle for example."

it's like jeno's what ifs and ors are never ending. donghyuck having to hold back his own tears while jeno's mouth just keeps running. "you're manipulating and lying to the poor kid. renjun could tell, mark could tell, hell even jisung could tell. you're stringing him along and he probably just wanted to be friends with jaemin. but now you're holding things above his head and threatening him if he doesn't follow what you say and don't tell me this isn't true."

donghyuck feels like he's had enough at this point, eyes only seeing red while he proceeds to grab jeno by the fabric of his costume and slam him up against the only empty wall in the room considering the fact it was basically the costume closet of the high schools drama department.

"you can only say all of this shit because you've been loved and followed around by so many fucking people all of you life." donghyuck nearly growls while jeno simply stares at him, knowing he wasn't done and that donghyuck was probably going to go into a sob story about his life before jaemin.

"i don't have a god complex, i know i don't always get what i want, i know i'm probably going extreme lengths for something as stupid as this," there's a small pause and jeno patiently waits for him to finish, "but jaemin was the only one who was ever nice to me, jaemin was the only one who ever cared for me, or loved me even if it was just as friends. with chenle it was different cause i'd known him all of my life..."

"when you came back into jaemin's life, it scared me. i knew jaemin would eventually be attracted to you again, and in the end, he'd leave me for you. i tried so hard to fill his head with lies about you, i lost myself. i lost myself in my own thoughts that if jaemin leaves... there'll be no one who loves me anymore and i... i wanted to try so hard to not let that happen."

jeno bites his lip, he sort of gets where donghyuck is coming from and it's scary considering the fact this was supposed to be the person he hated with a passion. though seeing his walls crumble like this was a little off to jeno, always seeing donghyuck as someone who always got what he wanted with a snap of his fingers.

maybe he was wrong about him.

still doesn't change the pain he's given jeno.

but he understands him a little more now.

with a shaky breath, jeno takes his hands and pushes donghyuck's hands away from him gently, not wanting to give him the idea that he wanted to fist fight. which would be sort of funny if it was any other situation cause jisung would've filmed it and yell, 'WORLDSTARRR!!!' as he did so.

"donghyuck... listen to me when i say this," jeno then places his hands on each of donghyuck's shoulders and looks him straight in the eyes although the hat on his head made it a little hard with the shadows and the lighting in the room wasn't too great as well.

"jaemin loves you because you're kind to him." jeno starts off and donghyuck can only take a shaky breath in, the tears welling out of his eyes. jeno can only offer him a small smile,

"be kind, and everyone will love you."

"have any of you seen jeno?" jisung asks when he finally runs into renjun, jaemin, and mark after what seemed like hours of swimming through the crowd for them.

the amount of people at this party was too fucking much, and jisung liked to wonder just how many contacts byeongkwan had on his phone for this place to be completely packed.

renjun frowns and shakes his head, "he stopped replying after mark's text, remember? and never really told us what room donghyuck dragged him into."

"wait donghyuck did what?" jaemin interjects when he hears what renjun says, and mark has the urge to slap their peter pan upside the head, "he dragged jeno into a room????"

peter pan, conan, and... man beast, all share a look with each other before turning to look back at kaito kid who was waiting for an answer.

"donghyuck wanted to talk with jeno apparently, but they're just sitting somewhere in silence according to jeno." mark explains trying to do some damage control while renjun whistles and looks off to the side.

jisung only sighs, yeah sure he was concerned about jeno and whatever the fuck he was doing with donghyuck. but the only reason he ran into mark, jaemin, and renjun was because he was looking for a specific someone with a big red balloon.

why was it so fucking hard to find a petite boy with a giant red balloon? jisung didn't know.

all he wanted was to see him, which was weird considering the fact he used to want to avoid him at all costs, but something was making jisung want to talk to him more. chenle was endearing, and it caught his attention to say the least.

plus, it was fine anyway. they were friends. there was nothing weird about wanting to talk to one of your friends, right? not like it was romantic or anything, since when did jisung ever want to fuck pennywise?

"yo, earth to man beast?" mark snaps his fingers in jisung's face and jisung just gets off of his tiptoes, giving up on looking for that stupid red balloon.

jisung looks down at mark with a raised eyebrow, "yes, conan?"

"do you have any ideas on where our beloved crown prince could be?" he asks and jisung immediately shakes his head. "one, we didn't go to this school. we went to sopa. two, jeno only ever spent time in their anatomy classroom cause he liked learning about the body. guess that explains why he's a forensics major."

as the trio is discussing where jeno could be, a lightbulb seems to go off in jaemin's head.

he taps renjun's shoulder and watches as he turns around with a small smile, "yes, nana?"

"jeno was interested in musicals and theatre at one point, right? he was in cinderella at sopa, the cat after he turned human?" he questions.

least to say, the three in front of him all had their jaws unhinged, jaemin only looking at them expectantly while he rocks back and forth on the balls of his feet.
