donghyuck had always scoffed when reading posts by jeno and his dumb friends. he rolled his eyes, he scrolled past it, sometimes he'd say something rude.

but this time was different.

as he goes through renjun and jeno's stories, his face was immediately greeted with mark's bloodshot eyes and tussled black hair.

he holds his thumb down on the screen to pause the video that was playing, and it stops right at mark has a wide smile on his face.

"ugly." he mumbles under his breath ignoring the way he felt the blood rush up to his cheeks when he saw the crinkles of his eyes and his nose all scrunched up.

he stares at it for a couple more seconds. donghyuck doesn't exactly know what he's doing anymore or what he's trying to get at.

his eyes narrow at the smiling boy in the screen of his phone before removing his finger and tapping through the rest of the story.

jaehyun holding doyoung's hand, kun pinching sicheng's cheeks, yuta and johnny getting boba, dejun, yukhei, and yangyang at the park, taeyong and jungwoo having a small study session, hell even chenle face-timing kunhang.

the ginger haired boy grips his phone tightly. everyone was checking up on each other after the neo zone group chat argument. his other 'friends' were hanging out with each other.

he scoffs, maybe yuta was right. he was the most disliked in their group. mark was right too, as much as he hates to admit it.

as donghyuck is about to cry out of anger, there's a warm sensation on his shoulder, and a sweet voice dripping with honey saying his name.

"hey, hyuck? are you okay?"

when he turns around, he is met with no one other than na jaemin. there's a small smile gracing his face when he sees him.

"i'm fine, nana." he replies as jaemin sits down next to him on his bed.

"are you sure? you're gripping your phone dangerously hard..." jaemin reaches over and loosens his friends grip on his phone and proceeds to give donghyuck a rub on the back. "did you and neo zone fight again?"

"mmm kind of?" donghyuck ends up placing his phone over on his nightstand. "someone just got me thinking i guess."

jaemin makes a small sound of realization before moving his hand and placing it over donghyuck's hands that were set upon his lap.

the ginger looks at him confused until jaemin speaks, "if you don't want to talk about it, i'll still be here to comfort you, duckie." he smiles and donghyuck blushes, a tinge of pink running up his cheeks. "you're important to me, you're my best friend. i'll always be here. i love you, alright?"

and that's when it dawns on donghyuck that in this cruel world, there's always one person who loves you with all their heart.

he realizes that that person is rught in front of him.

he realizes that if he can't be with jaemin, his walls might just crumble.

he realizes that if jaemin is gone,

there will be no one that loves him anymore.
