I look at them. I should've guessed; they're so cute together. "You mean in the real world?"

Takashi looks down. "No, just here," he says, hooking his forearm lightly around Rin's neck, "but when I get back to Kyoto I'm going to find her, steal her away, and keep her," he says. He starts giving her a playful noogie, and Rin screams wildly, laughing with him.

I can't help but smile at the scene. It reminds me that while this is a world of oddities, we are still ourselves, and we can be what we want. We can hate each other, or we can love each other. And love is what's going to get us out of here faster. And it's what's going to prove more fun.

I step forward and kneel before Rin. "Can I call you Rin-chan?" I ask. She nods. "Rin-chan, would you consider letting me adopt you as well?"

Takashi picks her up and smiles playfully. "Hold on a minute, Haruko-san," he says. "Are you trying to steal my little girl away? Because Daddy says no!"

I roll my eyes. "Nothing of the sort, Takashi-kun. In fact, by becoming her big sister, you also become my big brother. Do you not want me in your family?"

Rin looks up at him with big, brown, pleading eyes. Takashi rolls his eyes. "All right," he says. "C'mere, you!"

And he steals me into the group hug, with Rin smiling playfully in the middle. As I laugh with them I think about how much fun this is going to be.

I have a family again.
