Author's Comments and Notes
HELLO EVERYONE!!! If you are reading this, it means you finished REACH!!! Holy shit. I would like to give a special shoutout to Xenoclea Azael-Crimson and platypusgdfan for sticking through and commenting. Your feedback really makes my day and is motivation to continue. Now I have some things to say ;=)
So...guess what? There's gonna be a part two! I mean we can't just end it here, right? Now I need a bit of your help....what would you like to see? Be resolved? Do you have any unanswered questions? What shit should Roy get himself into this time???
Also...I'm thinking about making another story besides part two...through the eyes of MacKenzie! She seems to be loved so much. What was going through her mind when she first met Roy, what she was doing while he was in Oklahoma...aren't you curious? Because I am. And if you'll read it, I'll start writing BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. Unless you want one before the other ;=)
I'd like to know your opinions of Roy's transformation throughout the story as well. His attitude and development. I went back and re-read this from the beginning, and I actually entertained myself lol. I suggest you do the same if you want! And if you're wondering, I made a list of the characters and their corresponding real-life people I based their appearances off of...
Roy Walker- Lee Pace (of course)
MacKenzie Lebow- Mackenzie Davis
Dahlia Madison- Mia Kirshnir
Dade Madison- Lake Markham
Whit Walker- Oscar Isaac
Alice Lebow- Aleksa Palladino
Now for some fun facts I think you all should know!!
-For those who don't know, this is actually a fanfiction! It's based on Tarsem's movie The Fall. Roy Walker is paralyzed after jumping off a train bridge to impress his girlfriend...after that, everything else is original content. I really connected with Roy on a deep level, and felt the need to tell a story where his feelings were felt...this has absolutely nothing plot wise to do with the movie. But if you haven't, you should watch it. It's phenomenal.
-the events that happened in the hospital are around 87% true. I injured my back last summer and I have partial paralysis in my legs. That being said a lot of Roy's frustration and emotions are real as well.
-Dahlia is based off of Elizabeth Short, known as the Black Dahlia, who was murdered in the 1940s
-Dade's name is from Filthy Frank lol
-there is no train route from LA to Oklahoma, however a drive by car does take 19 hours and 13 minutes.
-Even though this takes place in 1915, I'm off with flapper references and other actors by a few years. All of the women are given a lot more freedom than they would've, types of clothing, etc. I'm also a few years off with the types of phones and cars. If we were really being historically accurate, this would be probably taking place in the 1930s or 1940s, or maybe even 50s, but silent films and crazy stuntmen were a thing of the past by then!
-Even though it seems Roy was in Oklahoma for a very long time, I tried calculating it, and I don't even think he was there for a month.
-The town in Oklahoma is Chickasha. ;=)
-When Roy overdoses on morphine, the actual description is that of an OxyContin overdose
-Most of the chapters are named after songs
-The title REACH is inspired and taken from the Amaranth demo Reach by Nightwish
Okay, now that I've said a bunch of everything, I hope you appreciate the story more! I'm very happy you've taken the time to follow along and read.
I'll be starting part two soon, along with the story in MacKenzie's point of view.
Thank you so much again. I love you all.
