Today was rather a busy day in the capital of Lugunica. Especially for the knights, why you ask? Well that was because on the surface everything seemed fine. But deep underground, lied a secret.

A secret no one knew about but the knights and the council of wisemen. Deep underground, a pod was being kept under watch; a pod that housed some kind of human. Now instead of actually opening the pod and letting the individual out of it's prison, they instead saw it as dangerous and decided to keep it underground to where the public didn't know about it.

But today was the day that all of that was going to change. Today was the day that the world was going to bear witness to the ultimate power.

". . .I'd much rather be doing something else than guarding whatever the hell this is."

One knight would say as the other sighed.

"I fully agree, couldn't they get Sir Julius or Sir Reinhard to guard this thing?"

"It shouldn't matter, we're right underneath the knights' headquarters. Our time guarding this object should be over within a few minutes."

"Yeah...you are right about that. I just kind of have a bad feeling that something will go wrong today, that's all."

"Oh I'm sure it's nothing-!"

The conversation between the two knights were interrupted as another random knight walked onto the scene, though he looked rather drunk.

"What the hell do you two think you're doing, huh?"

"Well it's our turn to watch over this-!"

"The hell it is! You two are just rookies, if anything...I should be the one guarding that thing! I'm the leader of this squad after all!"

The drunk knight would say as he took another step forward.

"I'm sorry to say sir but you are not in the right mind to be on guard duty."

"Hah?!? I'm definitely in my right mind, rookie! What? You think that thing in there is going to break out of there all of a sudden? It's fast asleep! It won't do anything!"

The drunk knight would then begin to start tapping on the glass rather violently.

This surprised the other two knights in alarm.

"Sir! What are you doing?!"

"What? It's not going to do anything, if anything I say we should kill it right now!"

"?!?!?"

Before the two knights could react, the drunk squad captain swung his sword at the pod, causing a small crack to appear, alarming the two even more.

"See? I told you it won't do anything-! Huh? What the hell are you two staring at?"

"B-B-Behind you. . .!"

"Hmmm?"

The drunk squad captain would turn around, only to be alarmed when he saw a pair of eyes staring at him through the glass.

'Shit-!'

*BOOOOOOOM!!!*

A huge explosion from the pod occurred as the three individuals were blown away. Shards of glass were sent flying as a dust cloud would form,  showing the silhouette of the individual walking towards them.

When they finally saw the person who was inside that pod, they finally got a good look at him. He wore a black fur coat with red streaks on it, his pants were in the same pattern. His hair was very spiky as four of them were curved upward and the rest were curved downward with red highlights in them as well. And finally, he wore white gloves with black and red-tongued cuffs and air shoes which like his gloves, have black cuffs and red-tongues. And to finish it all off, he wore gold rings on each of his wrists and ankles.

This individual was known as Subaru Natsuki or known by other people as "Shadow" or "Project Shadow"

Or rather his given title....

The Ultimate Life Form.

". . ."

As Subaru stopped to look around and take in his surroundings, the drunk knight stood up and rushed towards him; seeing Subaru as a threat.

After all, he may have looked like a boy around the age of 17 but he was not an ordinary boy...he was a weapon. And he needed to be eliminated by any means necessary.

As he gotten closer and closer with every step he took, he swung his sword horizontally. Though to Subaru, his movements were all to slow for him. Without saying much or even acknowledging the guy, he backhanded him into a wall. Causing another cloud of dust to form as the knight fell unconscious on impact.

This alone scared the two other knights who were previously guarding the pod he was in as they immediately booked it. They were rookies, who could blame them from running away from the current situation they found themselves in.

". . .Pathetic."

He then looked up and found his way out.

Without saying anymore than that, he began to form a spear-like construct before shooting upward towards the ceiling. As it made a hole on impact, Subaru jumped high into the air before curling into a black and red ball and made his escape.

Up on the surface in the commercial area of the capital. A woman with silky, silver hair, and amethyst eyes walked around the bustling streets as she looked around in wonder. She had snuck out from the inn she was staying at with one of her maids due to her immense curiosity.

"Wow. . .!!! So this is what the capital is like...it looks bigger than any village I've been to."

She wondered out loud to herself as she kept walking aimlessly.

'Just be careful, Lia. You don't know what kind of people are around here.'

'I will Puck, thanks for looking out for me as usual.'

'Of course, my daughter.'

"Now that I think about it, Ram will probably be mad at me for sneaking out while she was sleeping...I'll make sure to apologize when I get back-!"

She stopped talking to herself as her and few other bystanders noticed something far in the distance.

It looked like...

"Smoke?"

Piles upon piles of unconscious bodies were laid out on the ground as a lone figure stood in the middle of it all.

He held a green gemstone in his hand and held a random knight that attempted to attack him in the other by the neck.

"W-What. . .Just what are you-urk!!!"

Subaru's grip tightened as he glared at the knight who was slowly losing consciousness.

"I. . .am the ultimate life form."

With that, the knight went limp and Subaru dropped him before he began to look at the green gemstone in his hand.

"I finally found it."

In Subaru's hand, was a chaos emerald. A mystical gemstone with very powerful abilities. He had stole it from a nearby jewelry store after he sensed the chaos energy nearby. Of course, the knights followed him. With this emerald now in his possession, he'd be able to warp space and time.

'Now I just need to find the other remaining six and I'll be able to complete my revenge on this forsaken planet.'

He began to walk away from the scene until a voice made itself known.

"Stop right there villain!"

". . .Hm?"

He turned around only to see a girl with white silver hair and amethyst eyes glaring at him with contempt as she pointed her palm at him.

"Another nuisance to deal with. . ."

Subaru would mutter to himself as he grit his teeth in annoyance.

"Are you the one behind all of this?"

"So what if I am?"

The woman with silver hair would narrow her eyes after hearing his response.

"Then I'll make sure to stop you right here and right now!"

She exclaimed as Subaru stood there for a few seconds.

"Is that so. . .?"

He then turned around as red lightning crackled around him.

"Then by all means, go on and try!"

This was the Ultimate Life Form's first day in Lugunica.

Oh man this story is finally starting. Now before I forget, I want to say that this version of Subaru is essentially as you can tell by the cover and title of this story, Shadow The Hedgehog. Now if you also played Sonic Adventure 2 then you should know that Shadow wanted Revenge on Humanity for what had happened to Maria back on the Ark, especially Gerald seeing how he tampered with his memories to make it happen. It's why Shadow was collecting the emeralds in the first place. Now for this story I plan on doing the same thing here but in my own way. Each arc will be based off of a game that had Shadow as the main focus. I don't know which arc it'll take place but I plan on the ark and Biolizard to be one of the main conflicts in this story. Which is how Subaru would lose his memories after sacrificing himself to save the planet. But yeah that's just my thoughts talking, and I hope you enjoyed the first chapter.
