Subaru, Emilia, Shane, Rem, and Beatrice now stand in front of the vanguard the leaders of all guardians.

Subaru: "So how does this work? Do we talk first? Do you talk first?"

Beatrice: "Cayde."

Cayde-6: "Beatrice you're as bratty as ever I see. So what's the deal with you and the shiny?"

Beatrice: "This guardian is Beatrice's contractor in fact."

Zavala: "Wait Beatrice knows him?"

Rem: "Well she's not the only one. This is the person I told you about this is Subaru-kun."

Subaru: "Yeah that definitely is my name."

Zavala sighs.

Zavala: "You know how I feel about guardians looking into their past gravedigger it's part of why I was so hesitant to approve the formation of the guild that and your lightlessness."

Rem: "Rem can take care of herself. And you have to trust me Subaru-kun is someone you'll want to have. His past is one of heroism and bravery."

Shane-0: "I'm here too."

Cayde-6: "Don't worry I see ya bud. What did you say your name was?"

Shane-0: "It's Shane, Shane-0."

Cayde: "0? Now there's a curveball."

Ikora: "There are reasons why Guardians shouldn't look into their past."

Subaru: "Well technically I didn't look into my past my past came looking for me."

Cayde-6: "There's technically no rule about a Guardian's past looking for them."

Rem: "Please commander can you just make this one exception."

Zavala can see the desperation in Rem's eyes as she's begging him. Zavala sighs.

Zavala: "Fine. But just this once. But if his past proves to inhibit his ability as a Guardian you are to drop it gravedigger Rem."

Rem: "Understood."

Zavala turns his gaze to Emilia who is helping Ikora with documents and Shane who is currently looking all around the vanguard hall.

Zavala: "And effective immediately I will be commissioning fireteam Nike it's members will be Titan Subaru as leader, Hunter Shane-0, and Warlock Emilia."

Emilia trips.

Emilia: "Sir you're mistaken I'm not good at fighting I'm really not! I've never even touched a gun before!"

Ikora: "But you are a guardian and one with potential. Keeping you in the tower on scribe duty would be a waste."

Zavala: "Cayde call lord Shaxx."

Cayde-6: "Oh, I see what you're getting at."

Cayde's ghost emerges.

Cayde-6: "Sundance can you go fetch Shaxx? We got some rookies to put in the meat grinder."

Subaru: "What was that."

Sundance: "Right away. And should I go get Ram and tell her to start making bets on who dies first?"

Subaru: "Dies!?"

Cayde-6: "Relax you big baby you should know by now death is more inconvenient to a guardian than well actual death."

Sundance floats off.  Emilia removes her helmet and sighs defeated.

(Just imagine she's wearing Warlock robes)

Rem's expression changes to one of shock that her suspicions were confirmed.

Rem: "Miss Emilia has been a guardian this whole time?"

Emilia: "Do I know you?"

Rem: "We...used to be friends in your previous life."

Emilia: "Oh... Well I guess let's be friends in this one too."

Emilia says with a nervous and awkward smile.

???: "You aren't here to make friends!"

Emilia is jumped by a loud booming voice turning around to see a Titan in orange and white armor with a single horn on his helmet.

Zavala: "Ah, lord Shaxx glad you could make it."

Lord Shaxx: "I came when I heard about guardians with potential but I don't see them anywhere."

Subaru: "I'm pretty sure Cayde's ghost meant us."

Lord Shaxx: "I'll believe in the potential of a new light when I see it. Right now all I see are shiny rookies looking for whatever scrap they can find and calling it loot. Your Titan mark isn't even a mark it's a tattered rag."

Subaru: "H-hey!  This rag is important to me I think!"

Rem grabs Subaru's tattered old jacket and removes it.

Rem: "Don't worry Subaru-kun Rem can fashion this thing into a Titan mark you can be proud of."

Subaru: "Thanks I guess."

Lord Shaxx: "Enough flirting!  There's a time and place for it and this most certainly isn't the time or place."

Emilia can't help but look at Rem holding Subaru's tattered jacket.  She feels jealous for some reason but can't think of any reason why she literally just met Subaru and got assigned to his fireteam.  Emilia shrugs and thinks it's probably nothing.

Shane-0: "So what do we get out of this bootcamp of yours?"

Lord Shaxx: "You get the skills you'll need to make it as a guardian without dropping dead every five minutes."

Shane is quiet not very enthusiastic about this at all.  Shaxx sighs.

Lord Shaxx: "There will also be loot."

Shane-0: "Alright I'm in.  Let's go team."

Shaxx chuckles a bit.

Lord Shaxx: "Come now!  Your destiny as guardians awaits!"

Shaxx takes Subaru, Shane, and Emila with him while Beatrice tags along.

Lord Shaxx: "Mind explaining why you're here Beatrice."

Beatrice: "Subaru is Betty's contractor.  Betty will not let her contractor leave her again in fact."

Shaxx can't help but smile under his helmet this is the most energetic he's seen Beatrice since he's met her.

Lord Shaxx: "Well then with my training I'll make sure no beast from beyond the walls stands a chance."

Subaru's ghost materializes.  Subaru is deep in thought.

Subaru: "Still can't think of what to call you."

Subaru's ghost: "You don't need to name me.  I'm fine just being called ghost."

Subaru: "I'd be fine with that if you were the only ghost but you're not.  Besides you're a person you deserve a name."

Subaru's ghost: "Well.... I guess there is one name I like."

Subaru: "Oh yeah what is it?"

Subaru's ghost: "It's..."
