His abilities

Zenkai Boost: Saiyans are naturally battle hungry. It's a born need that they want to train and fight. They also have the special ability to get stronger after a near death experience.

Ki User: Subaru is a natural user of Ki. Granting him the ability to fly, shoot ki blast, ki attacks, etc.

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Saiyans are skilled fighters and can easily adapt to a situation, like how Broly in Dragon Ball Super managed to adapt and keep up with Goku and Vegeta.

Saiyan Physiology: Saiyans are pretty strong,  durable, and have faster healing than a normal human and more durable then one as well. And as I said earlier, the get stronger the more harder the fight is due to zenkai which is a permanent power boost.
