Chapter 47

"What do you mean that's his plan?" Taehyung snaps, glaring at the criminal behind bars. He is at the local lock-up, interrogating the criminal necessary for his current case. He is going to be prosecuting a devout follower of The Eye in a few days. Thanks to Luna, he has all the evidence he needs. But she requested that he adds this man's statement to his prosecution.

So here he is, talking to this maniac about The Eye's plans.

"I mean exactly that," The man snickers, "That's what he told us,"

"You know I'm recording this, right? You remember that I said I'm recording this?" Taehyung asks.

"Of course," The man sneers, "It's not like you can stop it. No one can,"

Taehyung sighs, taking a few notes.

"Can you elaborate?" He asks. The man shuffles forward, excited to talk about it.

Disgusting.

"Exactly that, he wants chaos," The man repeats, "He wants chaos, war, crime, violence, and control. He wants to continue what our old boss started and take over everything. He wants guns in the streets and power in his veins. He wants addicts leading the country, coming to him for their next fix. He wants full-blown anarchy. That's what he promised us that our old boss could not give us: Anarchy,"

Taehyung blinks, watching as the man breathes heavily, his eyes twitching slightly. It has been a while since he has interacted with a criminal like this.

"Right," Taehyung sighs, rolling his eyes, "So, that's his plan? Get some members in the police force and start weapon imports again?"

"Don't... don't diminish his hard work!" The man snaps, growling gutturally.

"Right..." Taehyung responds, taking notes, "Well, that's all I need, thanks for your time,"

Taehyung moves forward and stops the recording, turning the camera off. He will get an officer to upload and send him this footage when he returns to the station. He stands, moving the chair he was sitting on to the side. He places his notepad into the pocket of his jacket before sliding his hands into his pockets, returning his gaze to the criminal.

The man watches as Taehyung picks up his bag, sliding it onto his shoulder, his eyes unwavering.

"I just thought I'd let you know," Taehyung murmurs quietly, his back to the security camera, "You just informed a Reaper of The Eye's plan,"

He winks and walks away, watching as the man starts to panic, rushing towards the bars.

"YAH!" He screams, "GET BACK HERE!"

Taehyung chuckles, leaving the holding cell area, and closing the door behind him. He turns to the nearest officer and smirks.

"I don't think he is happy with me, I'm sorry for any issues I have caused," Taehyung says, the yelling from the man barely audible from where they are. The officer sighs, but he doesn't look annoyed.

"It's okay, he's always causing trouble anyway," He mutters, "Might need to isolate him again,"

"Maybe," Taehyung shrugs, patting the officer on the shoulder, "I'll see you next time,"

"See you later, Prosecutor Taehyung," The officer bows, re-entering the holding cell area to tell the man to stop yelling.

Taehyung saunters out of the station and heads to his car. Once he is inside, he pulls out his second phone, the phone he is meant to use for his second job. Finally, he has figured out why Luna wanted him to talk to this guy. He holds the phone to his ear, sighing deeply with confidence.

"Hey, V," She says cheerfully as she answers, "What do you have for me?"

Taehyung goes on to explain exactly what the man said, word-for-word, about The Eye's plans. It's not very specific – if anything it's annoyingly broad. But it is specific enough to give them a general idea of his plans.

"Ah, so he wants to continue Seokjin's work?" Luna repeats, humming a little, "Well, he's doing a poor job of it. Chaos and destruction make sense, but I'd love to see him try to take over for J Hope, that would be a fantastic failure,"

"I know right?" Taehyung chuckles, "Jerk or not, J Hope was good at what he did,"

"Yeah, very true," Luna sighs, "All right, let's meet up later to discuss the rest and come up with a plan, okay? I'm waiting on a call from Suga anyway,"

"Sounds good," Taehyung murmurs seductively, "See you later,"

She giggles on the other end, enjoying his subtle teasing.

"Bye," She mumbles before hanging up the phone.

Taehyung puts his phone away and starts his car. He feels strangely... light?

Ever since he took on this position, something he would have considered disgusting corruption only a month ago, he has felt great. He no longer has to worry about a criminal getting away, or accountability being lost in the legal system. Sure, he has had to adjust his morals and ethics drastically to even consider the proposition RM gave him. But all this feels so... right.

Feeling more confident than ever, he drives off, heading back to his workplace to finish up his paperwork for the day.

. . . . .

Yoongi enters the interrogation room, banging the door loudly behind him. He grumbles with frustration, sitting across from his current suspect comfortably. He has a file in his hands, skimming over it briefly. It contains all of the information surrounding this person's arrest and why she is here. He is only involved because she told the arresting officer that she works for The Eye. Yoongi can only assume that she did something so stupid because she genuinely believed The Eye when he said that he has people in the police force. Unluckily for her, she is now stuck with him.

After he finishes reading through the important points, he glares up at her, cocking his eyebrow sarcastically. He sighs, leaning forward to place the file in front of him, keeping his gaze firmly on her. She shuffles uncomfortably but doesn't waver or give in.

"So," He says loudly, startling her, "I see you're here because you broke into the victim's home a few nights ago, correct?"

"You don't know that," She retorts, folding her arms cockily.

"The victim has recently installed a lot of high-quality security cameras," Yoongi explains, "You were caught red-handed, hence the arrest," He pulls an incredibly clear photo of her out of the file, tapping it with his finger. She peers at it, her expression shifting dramatically. She slumps a little, glaring at the desk.

"Yeah," She grunts.

"That's better," Yoongi smirks, "But now, I'm involved, do you know why that is?"

She peers at him, narrowing her eyes. Slowly, she leans forward, tilting her head.

"Because you work for The Eye?" She whispers.

"No," Yoongi replies, "I'm here because you said you work for The Eye,"

She groans, leaning back in her seat.

"Don't I have the right to choose who investigates me?" She snaps, "I want to speak to Detective Choi,"

"Detective Choi Seunghyun?" Yoongi smirks, "Or, maybe, even Prosecutor Jackson Wang?"

The girl pales, her eyes widening as she lifts her gaze to Yoongi. Her pupils tremble, the realisation washing over her.

"How... how do you know...?" she murmurs.

"Because they are dead," Yoongi says firmly, "They died the night your old boss did. An investigation led to their involvement with The Eye,"

"But... The Eye told me..." She gulps, "Are you sure?"

"Positive," Yoongi says firmly, "So, now that you know that your current boss is a liar... why don't you give me some helpful information?"

She sighs deeply, lifting her arms so she is leaning on the desk between them. She begins fiddling with her fingers, her eyes full of passionate anger.

"Sure," She says firmly, "I'll tell you anything you want to know... but... my case?" she suggests pleadingly.

"I have a friend," Yoongi begins, pulling a flyer out of the file, "That has been providing services to help people... given your history, I'd recommend it,"

He passes her the flyer, and she looks down at it with confusion.

"A... self-defence school?" She frowns, "How the fuck is that going to be helpful?"

"If you confess and show remorse, you can get off with community service considering you didn't do any damage, and everything you stole has been returned in perfect condition," Yoongi explains, "This would count towards that considering their programs,"

"Ah, I see," The girl nods, reading through the flyer, "Okay, I'll tell you everything,"

"What do you know?" Yoongi asks, pulling out a notepad.

"Well... not much to be honest," the girl mumbles, "I'm not even sure if it'll be helpful,"

"Everything is helpful," Yoongi says firmly, "Even if your information isn't what gets him arrested and behind bars, I will still keep my side of the bargain, okay?"

She looks at him and smiles gratefully.

"All right, well... he has black hair and dark eyes. He is taller than me and quite muscular..." She blushes, "Anyway, he has a main base that hasn't been invaded or on the radar,"

"Where?" Yoongi asks, starting to become excited.

"I don't know..." She sighs, "I overheard him talking about it. But he hasn't told anyone where it is... everyone was surprised to hear him mention it, especially considering we have been jumping from place to place,"

"Yeah... we noticed that," Yoongi sighs, "Anything else?"

The girl continues to offer information that they already know, leaving Yoongi with only one new piece of information – the main base.

He thanks her for her cooperation and leaves the room, meeting Mr Lee in the new Task Force office. He notifies him of the bargain he made with her, which he will pass on to the prosecution. Considering the victim doesn't wish to press charges anyway, they won't reject it. Then, he calls Luna on his second phone. While it rings, he moves to a quieter corner of the room. Not because they aren't allowed to overhear him; everyone in this room is a Reaper. He moves away because they are really loud.

Finally, she answers.

"Yo, I guess you got something for me?" She answers casually.

"Yeah, we arrested this lady," Yoongi explains, "She gave me some interesting information, but I'm also sending her to you,"

"Ooo a reform? Well done," Luna chuckles, "What information did she have?"

"Nothing too helpful," Yoongi sighs, "But she mentioned that The Eye has a place where he seeks shelter that no one knows about,"

"Oh, we'll see about that," Luna chuckles, "That's quite helpful actually. You want to come here after work so we can develop a game plan?"

"Sounds good," Yoongi grins, "V gonna be there?"

"Of course," She laughs, "See you later?"

"Sure," Yoongi clarifies, "I'll bring food,"

"Wow, you're the best," She laughs loudly, "Bye!"

"See you," He mutters, hanging up.

He turns back to Mr Lee so he can update him.

"I'll be going to church tonight," Yoongi smirks, "I'll let you know how that goes tomorrow,"

Mr Lee grins, enjoying the fact that Yoongi is finally on board with the code words.

"Awesome," Mr Lee chuckles, "Nice work,"

He leaves the office, a slight skip in his step. Yoongi shakes his head, watching his boss go happily. For an older man, he sure is enjoying this a little too much. Like a kid playing a spy game.

He returns his attention to his work, looking around for the officer who has his next case.

. . . . .

"Hey, Yoongi!" Luna and Taehyung call out happily, watching him exit the stairwell with dinner. Yoongi skips towards them childishly, placing the bags on the table between them.

They are sitting on the veranda again, ready for their little meeting. Luna and Taehyung enjoyed the sunset, bathing in the romantic environment while they waited for Yoongi to finish work.

"I got a heap of food," Yoongi declares, pulling out container after container, "I also brought some soju,"

"Wow," Taehyung grins, "You're the best,"

"I know," Yoongi smirks, passing the utensils, plates, and cups for them to eat from.

They spend an hour enjoying the plentiful dinner and alcohol. Taehyung talks about how one of the other prosecutors slipped on his own messy paperwork in his office, causing his supervisor to finally tell him to clean up. Yoongi talks about how Mr Lee has been acting like a kid playing a spy game every time they exchange the little code words he came up with to use in the office. Luna tells them about how one of her students is doing really well, finally picking up on the concentration and centring aspects of martial arts.

After a while, Taehyung decides to bring the conversation around to business.

"So," He clears his throat, "What is this meeting about?"

"Ah, yes," Luna nods, "Firstly, you two can explain what you've found, and we'll go from there,"

Yoongi and Taehyung take turns explaining the information they found today and how they were able to obtain this information.

"So, yeah," Yoongi finishes, "What can we do with this?"

"Well, let me tell you what I've found first," Luna says.

"Oh, did Mr Choi come back with something useful?" Taehyung smirks.

"Yes, finally," Luna chuckles, "Most of it pretty much confirms what you guys found out,"

"That's not useful," Yoongi frowns.

"But he did have good news," Luna smiles, "He knows what The Eye's next moves are,"

"Thank god," Taehyung sighs.

"So, The Eye will be moving from his current location to a specific address," Luna dramatically pulls a piece of paper out of her pocket, "And I have the address,"

"Perfect," Yoongi grins, relaxing immediately. Taehyung claps, looking at her proudly.

"Finally, we will be able to officially put all this Eye business behind us," Taehyung smiles.

"Exactly," Luna smiles, "He will be moving there on the weekend. If his plans change, Mr Choi will let us know,"

"So, are we going to go there?" Taehyung asks.

"Not until they have moved in, just in case The Eye has the place monitored," Luna explains, "The night they get there, we'll be there,"

"No time to escape?" Yoongi smirks.

"Exactly," Luna grins, "And based on this location, he won't be able to run away,"

"Sounds like a plan," Taehyung sighs, leaning back comfortably, "Hey, should we update RM on all this?"

Luna gasps, her eyes widening, only just remembering her brother's existence. She should have updated him ages ago. He won't come running back to save her, right? He will let her deal with it herself, right?

"Yeah, we should," She breathes, pulling out her phone, "We'll call him together,"

"Why?" Yoongi frowns.

Luna looks up at him nervously, before turning her gaze to Taehyung. Taehyung watches her for a moment before giggling at her expression. Yoongi instantly looks at Taehyung, his confusion mounting.

"She's worried she's going to get in trouble," Taehyung explains, "You haven't updated him at all, have you?"

Slowly, Luna shakes her head, feeling a little guilty.

Taehyung bursts out laughing, slapping his knee comically. Yoongi gives her a stern look, tilting his head as he folds his arms.

"You haven't updated your boss during all this?" Yoongi demands, "Seriously? Why?!"

"I forgot!" Luna whines, "I have been so busy lately,"

"Just call him," Taehyung snickers, "Get it over and done with,"

Luna sighs, opening his contact and calling him. She puts it on speaker between them, watching the phone warily.

What time is it there?

"Hello?" Namjoon answers groggily as if they have woken him up.

"Hey, it's me," Luna smiles, "Did we wake you?"

"Yeah, but that's okay. It's almost 5am here, so it's not too early," Namjoon sighs, sitting up. Yoongi stares at the phone ludicrously, as if the concept of 5 am not being too early is blasphemy.

"Who else is there?" Namjoon asks quickly.

"It's me, V, and Suga," Luna smiles.

"Ah, good morning," Namjoon mutters, "Or... good evening? What time is it there?"

"Almost 9 pm," Luna chuckles, "We have some news for you,"

"Okay, what's up?" Namjoon replies, suddenly sounding more awake. She can hear him moving around, so he must be getting up from his bed.

"We have had a few... developments," Taehyung starts, grinning at Luna's discomfort.

"What happened?" Namjoon demands, his big boss voice making an appearance. Taehyung cringes away from the phone, while Yoongi looks at Luna with pity.

Luna sighs and begins explaining everything. She tells him how they received news that someone has taken over for Seokjin and how Jungkook escaped. She then proceeds to tell him everything they have on who it could be and what they plan on doing.

In response, Namjoon sighs and becomes silent. His silence is deafening, louder than any yelling or cursing she has ever heard him use.

He's mad.

"Okay, let's start with the Jungkook issue," Namjoon says sternly, "What have they been doing?"

"Checking all known locations and locking down the airport and boarders," Luna explains, "He can't leave... but he could be anywhere. The Reapers found him just outside of Seoul yesterday, but he slipped away before I got there,"

"I assume he left a mess?"

Luna hums in response, recalling the bodies of The Reapers she had to deal with. He had way too much fun with that.

"Right, now this new Eye person," Namjoon sighs, "How long has it been?"

Luna looks up at Yoongi nervously, not wanting to tell him just how long she has had to contact him about all this.

"We got the news not long after you left," Yoongi says for her.

"I see..." Namjoon groans with frustration, obviously moving away from the phone. They listen to his muffled cursing for a moment before he finally returns to the phone.

"Okay, for future reference," Namjoon mutters, "Any news like this gets reported to me immediately. Understood?"

"Yes, RM," They say in unison, sounding like a group of students being reprimanded by their teacher.

"Good," Namjoon sighs, "Do I need to go there?"

"No," Luna says firmly, frowning a little, "We got this,"

"Okay, I trust you," Namjoon replies, "But if anything goes wrong... Call. Me. Immediately. And I'll be there,"

"Understood," Luna mumbles, taking the scolding, "Thank you,"

"It's okay," He breathes, "I just don't want anything bad to happen to you,"

"I know," Luna smiles.

"Anyway... if that's all, I need to get to work. You seem to have it figured out for the moment. Call me if you need me to go there, okay?"

"Yes, yes, I know," Luna rolls her eyes, "Talk to you later,"

"Okay, Faith," Namjoon chuckles, "Bye,"

Namjoon hangs up, leaving the three of them sitting there, now sober, feeling like they have received a mental beating. Namjoon has a way of making Luna feel smaller, and she is sure that she shares this thought with Yoongi and Taehyung.

"Okay," Taehyung breathes, grabbing a bottle of soju. He takes a swig of it before beaming at them, "Now that we have been told off, let's get drunk again,"

Yoongi and Luna chuckle at him, but they don't disagree. They grab a bottle each and cheer with him.

It's okay, Luna thinks to herself, the plan will go perfectly. Namjoon doesn't need to save me.

It'll be fine.
