Chapter 45

Chapter 45

"Ah, fuck," Yoongi groans, leaning back in his seat.

"What's wrong, Detective Yoongi?" Yoongi looks up to find Mr Lee leaning against his desk, smiling kindly.

"This case," Yoongi snaps, "It's frustrating me,"

"Walk me through it," Mr Lee mutters, dragging a seat over so he can look at Yoongi's screen with him.

"Homicide," Yoongi begins, "three dead at the residence of Mr Park Jin Young, the CEO of a large music entertainment company in Seoul. All three victims were women in their early 20s and were trainees at Mr Park's company. There were two witnesses: A young woman of similar age and Mr Park himself. Both claimed that someone broke in, held them at gunpoint, and killed the women, before leaving with a few of Mr Park's valuables,"

"I see," Mr Lee mutters, narrowing his eyes, "And you don't believe it?"

"Not for a second," Yoongi sneers, "The story isn't adding up,"

"How?" Mr Lee asks.

"The young woman was in the presence of Mr Park during the interview, and she was nervously sneaking looks at him. The valuables in question have not turned up, and I'm starting to question the validity of their existence because he has no proof of purchase. Who doesn't keep receipts for millions of dollars worth of jewellery for insurance purposes? And all of his security systems were wiped. They weren't just turned off for the evening, the camera footage was wiped clean. Not to mention, Mr Park requested a specific detective. The only reason I got this case at all was because of you,"

"I know," Mr Lee smirks, "I have been waiting for the day Mr Park comes across my desk again so I can pass him on to you,"

"Why?" Yoongi frowns, turning to look at him.

"Let's just say that Mr Park is 'the one who got away', you know?" Mr Lee mumbles, a knowing glint in his eye.

"So, what should I do?" Yoongi asks, "It's obvious that the story isn't adding up... but how do I get the truth?"

Mr Lee stands up, adjusting his jacket as he goes.

"I don't know, Yoongi," He smirks, "Maybe you should... have a little faith,"

Yoongi frowns, irritated by the subtlety as Mr Lee saunters away, that playful little smirk on his face.

Yoongi rolls his eyes, pulling out his new second phone so he can call her. He finds her number and presses call.

"Yo, what's up?" She says cheerfully, sounding slightly out of breath.

"Hey, I got some work I might need help with," Yoongi mutters, "Can we meet up?"

"Yeah sure," She replies happily, "Want to go to lunch, or do you want to just come here?"

"Where are you?" Yoongi frowns.

"The Training centre, of course," She chuckles, "Want to come here?"

"Yeah, might as well," Yoongi groans, standing up from his desk, "There's nothing good to eat between here and there,"

"Great! See you soon!"

"Bye," Yoongi grins, hanging up on her. He grabs his jacket, slides the file into his jacket pocket, and heads out.

. . . . .

Yoongi slides past the gate, grinning up at the neo-traditional building. This would be the perfect place to train and learn self-defence. It's also the perfect place for the leader of a criminal syndicate to work from.

Well, the leader of a vigilante syndicate.

He heads to the front door and enters, startled by the number of people. There are a variety of students in various levels of sporting attire and a teacher at the front of the class showing them a specific move they must be focusing on for the day.

"Can I help you?" Yoongi turns to see a lady working behind the front desk, looking up at him expectantly.

"Hi... uh..." he rubs his neck awkwardly, "I'm here to see your boss?"

"And who are you?"

"Just tell her the detective is here," Yoongi mumbles. He's unsure if she goes by Faith or Luna here.

"Suga!" Yoongi grunts as someone hugs him around his middle, startling him. He looks down to find Luna grinning up at him, her cheeks flushed from whatever work she was doing.

"Faith," Yoongi breathes, "How are you?"

"Great," She sighs, "Come with me,"

She lets him go, gesturing for him to follow her to what must be her office. She unlocks the door and enters, leaving him to follow her in.

It's a spacious cute little office with dark timbers and intense security. He sits in the seat in front of her desk, watching as she moves around to sit as well.

"Now, detective, what can I do for you?" She asks, her expression changing from comforting familiarity to a firm leader in an instant.

Yoongi passes her the case, explaining his predicament. He also tells her about Mr Lee's previous encounter with Mr Park.

"Hmm, the CEO of an entertainment company?" She sighs, "This is a difficult one. We would need either definitive proof, or we have nothing,"

She continues to skim over the file, contemplating this conundrum.

"Considering his history, I'd say that he invited an investor over and they got over-excited," Luna mumbles, "So, the young girl would need to testify, and we really need that security footage, especially the footage from inside the house,"

"I can't get a warrant to find his backup files," Yoongi mutters, "Plus, they would have been completely erased from the backup servers by now,"

"Nothing is deleted forever, detective," Luna smirks, "He went through a security company, so that will be easy to obtain,"

"But... how would we say that we got access to it?" Yoongi frowns.

"You've been allowed access to his premises, right?" Yoongi nods, "Well then Mr Lee can sign an approval document for a cyber officer to 'access' the security system,"

"Is that possible?" Yoongi mutters, wide-eyed.

"Yes, but not in this case. Usually, once it is wiped from the premises, a warrant is needed to access the security company's files. However, it is possible to say that it wasn't completely wiped," Luna smirks, "Anyway, that's what would be documented. And, if Mr Park tries to fight it, he would have to say something along the lines of 'No! They couldn't have because I deleted it!' and then there goes all of his credibility,"

"Fair," Yoongi smirks, "What about the witness?"

"I could come to her as a protector and offer her safety and anonymity for the truth," Luna shrugs, "We'll see how she responds to that,"

"You're a genius, Faith," Yoongi smirks.

"Calm down," Luna scoffs, giving Yoongi a strange sense of DeJa'Vu, "Well, I'll make a few calls and visit the girl later, okay?"

"Sounds good," Yoongi nods, standing and bowing towards Luna, "Thank you,"

"It's fine," Luna grins, "Now, do you want some lunch? Jeff went and grabbed some Kimbap,"

"Jeff?" Yoongi frowns, following Luna as she gets up from her desk and heads to her office door.

"That's the name he chose," She shrugs, "Want some Kimbap?"

Yoongi grins, nodding quickly. Luna leads him out of her office and up the stairs.

If this is how it's going to be working for The Reapers, then I never want to stop. Yoongi contemplates, smiling at the calming sensation filling his chest. He will never have to worry about a criminal getting away ever again. Even crazy rich assholes.

. . . . .

"Hey, how was your day?" Yoongi asks Taehyung happily as they leave the building. Taehyung, however, doesn't have Yoongi's enthusiasm. His shoulders are slumped, a little pout on his face.

"Shit," He mutters, "I got in trouble,"

"Why?" Yoongi frowns.

"The judge decided that my opposition is not guilty," Taehyung groans, "I'm sure they were paid off... I don't know what I was expecting from a little rich kid,"

"Kid? What happened?" Yoongi mutters, leaning against Taehyung's car.

"This 18-year-old kid got arrested for breaking and entering," Taehyung explains, "He also assaulted the lady who lived there, in all meanings of the word,"

"Oh, damn," Yoongi gasps.

"We had heaps of evidence," Taehyung snaps, "Security footage, witness accounts, and the kid was stupid enough to brag about it on the internet,"

"But he got away?" Yoongi frowns, "That's messed up,"

"It's a messed up world," Taehyung mutters bitterly.

Yoongi smirks, tilting his head at Taehyung.

"Well, today I had a lot of Faith," He winks, "Have you thought about having faith?"

Taehyung narrows his eyes, glaring at Yoongi.

"I really hate this little subtle bullshit we do," He mumbles angrily, "Fine, I'll call her,"

"Who are you calling?"

Taehyung and Yoongi scream, jumping away from the voice in shock. Luna looks up at them, blinking at them.

"Why did you have to sneak up on us like that? Huh?" Taehyung snaps.

"We summoned her," Yoongi grins, laughing to hide his scream of terror in the hopes that they don't mention it.

"What do you need?" Luna asks seriously, looking up at Taehyung.

Taehyung explains the case where the kid went free, even with all the evidence they had. Luna's eyes become darker the more he talks about it. Once he finishes, she has her arms folded.

"I can deal with that," She scoffs, "A little beating should do the trick. Who are his parents?"

"That huge tech company based in Gangnam," Taehyung gestures vaguely.

"Ah," Luna grins, "I have a lot of dirt on them. We should be able to pull them into line,"

Taehyung shuffles his feet nervously, avoiding Luna's eyes.

"You're not... going to kill them... right?" He mutters.

"That's a last resort," Luna sighs, "Anyway, I'll organise for Stray Kids to deal with the kid. Chris really gives off a Dad vibe so I think he will be able to get through to him. But I'll send some Reapers to talk to the parents, sounds good?"

Yoongi and Taehyung blink at her, a little surprised that she already has a plan in place.

"Stray... Stray kids?" Yoongi mumbles, "Who are they?"

"They're the group in charge of the area," Luna explains, "You met Chris last Friday, remember?"

"Ah, that guy," Taehyung grins, "He seems nice,"

"Yah, you only started liking him after he took his eyes off Luna," Yoongi teases, nudging Taehyung playfully. Taehyung pouts, glaring at Yoongi for reminding him.

"Anyway," Luna chuckles, looking up at Taehyung, "I'll make a few calls, then we can go home, okay? We have the entire weekend to ourselves," Luna winks as she moves away, heading to the corner of the parking lot that has no surveillance.

"Wow sounds like you're going to be busy this weekend," Yoongi grins, looking up at Taehyung mischievously.

"Of course," Taehyung smirks, "But don't go thinking about that!"

"Thinking about what?" Yoongi frowns.

"Luna! Like that!" Taehyung snaps, bearing down on him.

"What?! Luna?! EW!" Yoongi grimaces, "Urgh, no. That's like fantasising about a little sister," Yoongi shivers.

"Good, you better not think of her like that," Taehyung tries to say sternly, but Yoongi's expression of pure disgust is bringing him to the brink of laughter.

"You're disgusting," Yoongi grumbles, "Anyway, I'll see you Monday,"

"Bye, Yoongi," Taehyung laughs as Yoongi waves and turns away, heading to his car. Taehyung watches as he shivers again, as if recalling something repulsive.

Once he drives away, Luna returns, a cheerful spring in her step.

"All organised," Luna grins, "If you hear about it, or they return to report it to the police, let me know,"

"Got it," Taehyung nods, smirking a little, "Ready to go?"

"Sure," Luna grins.

They slide into Taehyung's car and head back to his place, grabbing some dinner along the way.

They enter his apartment and eat their dinner, talking happily about their day.

Luna spent the day organising teachers and supervisors for the Training centre in the basement. For the moment, it's going to be a 6-month program that Luna has written and planned herself. Namjoon sent over a few of The Reapers from America to work with her on this training. By the time Yoongi dropped in to see her, it was all organised and ready. As of next week, it will begin.

So far, two vigilante groups will be starting the program. One group calls themselves ATEEZ, and the other group calls themselves Seventeen. It will be a tight squeeze, but Luna has made it work. Slowly, all The Reapers in Seoul will get proper physical and resilience training.

Then, Luna will start her assassin program. A few people have already put their hands up to do the program, but she doesn't want to separate them from their groups for too long. For example, Changbin and Lee Know from the Stray Kids group have already requested to do the assassin training.

But she doesn't have to think about that for a little while yet.

"Let's go shower and then watch a drama," Taehyung says, "I've missed cuddling with you on the sofa,"

Luna blushes, nodding vigorously as he leads her to the shower.

They have only recently started showering together. Mostly because of her own insecurities, but also because it is incredibly dangerous, especially with Mr Roaming-Hands here.

The shower is warm, gently cascading over their bodies. Luna tries to just wash herself quickly, but Taehyung is too clingy.

He wraps his arms around her waist from behind, his fingers gently gliding over her bare skin.

"Ah," He sighs contently, "You have no idea how relaxing this is,"

"I'm not surprised you're relaxed," Luna smirks, tilting her head to look up at him as the water hits her shoulder, "All of your blood is elsewhere,"

She smirks, watching as his cheeks slowly become redder, spreading evenly to his ears.

"Ah, you noticed that?" He mutters, letting her go so he can grab some soap.

"That's better," Luna chuckles, "I don't want to slip and die in here,"

"Are you telling me off, Miss Faith?" Taehyung's dark voice tickles her ear, making her shiver. He presses himself against her back, slippery and silky from the soap he has just applied. She blushes, trying to ignore his hands as they continue to caress her skin.

"Let's... let's just shower, okay?" She breathes, rubbing the loofa across herself. Gently, he grabs it from her hand, continuing the washing process. She bites her lip, unsure what to do. Her cheeks are burning with embarrassment and lust, a heady mixture. Once he finishes with her torso, he slowly makes his way further down, before stopping. He lifts the loofa, passing it back to her.

"Are you going to wash yourself now?" He mumbles, his voice almost gravelly with the low tone he is using. She nods, taking the loofa from his hands.

"Good girl," He whispers, turning the shower head so he can rinse himself. She blushes, trying to ignore his little chuckle from the effect that has had on her.

During the time they have become more sexual with each other, they have also learnt some interesting things about their preferences. Taehyung seems to be a lot more dominating than she was expecting. Luna has also figured out that she likes being told what to do, a lot more than she was expecting. They spoke about it a week ago, setting boundaries and limits to this little experiment in their relationship.

So far, Luna has no complaints.

Once they finish and get dressed, they move into the lounge room, covering the sofa with way too many pillows and blankets. They grab some snacks and a hot chocolate, snuggling into each other as Taehyung plays a new drama he's been wanting to watch.

She relaxes into his arms, feeling safe and content, a feeling she is only just starting to get used to. Nothing feels better than the ability to feel vulnerable in his arms.

Suddenly, her phone starts chirping melodically, grabbing her attention. It's her work phone.

Begrudgingly, she slides off the sofa and grabs it, answering the call.

"Yeah?" She grumbles, feeling like she was wrenched away from a safety cocoon.

"I have some bad news, Faith," A voice says, sounding a little nervous.

"What is it?" She snaps, anxiety instantly blooming in her stomach.

"He broke out..." The man mutters.

"Who did?" She retorts loudly.

"J-Jeon Jungkook, Ma'am," The man stammers, "He escaped,"

Luna groans with frustration, wanting to desperately shoot these guards for their incompetence. But these are military-grade officers. Jungkook just can't be contained for very long.

"Find him," She growls.

(A/N) Ooo Jungkook escaped again.

See ya tomorrow 🫰🫰🫰
