Chapter 17
TW: SA Mentioned
"Luna, please," Taehyung begs. He places his hands on her shoulders, gently pushing her off him so he can see her face, "Please tell me what's wrong,"
"I..." Luna clears her throat, "I can't,"
"Why?" He mutters. He shuffles so he is sitting cross-legged in front of her, leaning forward.
"I don't... I don't want you to hate me," Luna mumbles, gulping down a sob.
"I promise you; I won't hate you," He reassures, giving her a small smile, "Please just tell me,"
Luna looks into his eyes, tears still gently sliding down her moist face. His eyes are so genuine, full of kindness and love for her. He looks so concerned, the fear hiding just behind his eyes.
I should tell him... it'll be okay. I can do this.
She takes a big, shaky breath, roughly wiping her face of all her tears. She sniffles a little, looking down at her hands as she fiddles nervously with the blanket.
She proceeds to tell him what happened with The Eye. She leaves out certain details, like how she was training to be an assassin at the time, and how he targeted her because her father was a crime boss. She stuck to the basics, the kidnapping, what she remembers happening, how she was found, and how her father reacted when he found her. Throughout the entire explanation, Taehyung's expression is blank. But when she looks up at him, she can see the bubbling rage hiding behind the mask.
She then proceeds to explain how she has struggled with intimacy ever since. She tells him how it's only touching and any activities beyond that. She also adds that this is why Jungkook felt the need to cheat on her. He nods along to her explanation, his jaw clenching and unclenching.
Please don't leave me... please...
"I didn't want to say anything because..." She bites her lip.
"Because you were worried I would do the same?" Taehyung finishes, sounding angry. She nods timidly.
It's moments like these that she has always tried to avoid. She has never been this emotional or vulnerable with anyone, besides Jimin. But even then, she was usually drunk. It makes her feel weak and stupid.
Stupid fucking trauma.
Startling her, Taehyung places his hand softly on her face, gently gliding his thumb over her cheek. She looks up at him warily, startled to see tears in his eyes. Her eyes widen, completely bewildered by his reaction. He takes a deep breath before speaking.
"I will never... never... cheat on you," Taehyung says firmly. His jaw is trembling slightly as if he is close to breaking down and crying himself. Before Luna can reply, he continues.
"And I am so sorry you had to go through something like that. I will never do anything you are not comfortable with, okay?" She nods, "So, what are you genuinely comfortable with?"
"Genuinely?"
"Yes," He says sternly, "I don't want you to say you are comfortable with something that you aren't comfortable with just for my sake,"
"Oh," She nods, gulping, "So... you won't..."
"I'm not going anywhere," He places his other hand on her other cheek, leaning in closer, "I care about you, a lot. I'm not going to leave you over something like this. I don't care if we never end up going that far. As long as you are by my side and happy, I am happy,"
A tear slides down her cheek again as a fresh wave of sobs rises inside her. He pulls her toward him, letting her cry onto his shoulder again.
Once she is finished crying with relief, they spend another hour setting boundaries. She has determined that she is only uncomfortable with anything involving her skin. She is fine with cuddling like they were, even the little neck kisses now that she knows he has no expectations. Once they are finished, Luna heads home, her heart feeling a lot lighter.
. . . . .
Another day of university, another day with Taehyung, and another day of teasing Jimin for being the single third wheel of the trio.
He did not end up killing her when she got home last night, not that she was expecting him to. But it would have been funny to see him try.
He is still absolutely disgusted by their physical affection around him. It seems he, for some reason, forgot about this aspect of dating.
How long has it been since he's dated someone? Luna wonders.
Once they reach the school, Jimin heads off to his class, relieved to be away from them. Luna and Taehyung head into class and get ready for their exam.
Once again, the seat beside her is empty. She frowns at the cold seat, starting to become a little worried. He was never a good student, but considering why he is here, it is a little suspicious that he isn't attending school again. Ironically, she hasn't seen him since she and Taehyung started dating. Is it a coincidence, or is that why he hasn't been coming to school?
Surely, he wouldn't have seen them talking in that little secluded patch of grass away from everyone else. Plus, wouldn't he be more likely to continue attending to convince her to leave Taehyung? Or trying to fight him?
She makes a mental note to talk to Hoseok and Jimin after school about Jungkook's sudden absence before returning her attention to class.
It'll be fine, I'll deal with it later.
Once the class is finished, Taehyung and Luna move off to their next classes, which are different for this period. He pouts a little as they pause at the entrance to the hallway he needs to go down. He swings their arms between them, wasting time. Eventually, Luna manages to pry herself away from him and head to class.
She hands in her assessment and spends the rest of the class time finishing an assessment for another class. Her entire focus is on the laptop screen in front of her, but she still notices Jaemi's lofty attitude, even though she is sitting further away from her these days.
As class finishes, Luna packs her things and leaves the classroom. She doesn't bother moving too far or fast, already sensing Jaemi's intentions. She always corners her after this class, as if she is worried Taehyung is going to stop her or something.
She didn't learn her lesson, did she?
It's me she needs to be worried about, not him.
As if summoned by Luna's thoughts, Jaemi appears. She taps her on her shoulder, waiting for her to turn and face her before speaking.
"Hello, liar,"
"Peanut," Luna salutes, "What's up?"
Jaemi folds her arms, trying to appear intimidating as she stands over her. The bruise on her jaw is gone, completely covered under her makeup. Luna, however, is certain it would still be there. Standing beside her are her two friends, the blonde guy and the brunette girl. She still has no idea what their names are, but she hasn't really tried to find out either.
"You said you don't like him," Jaemi says, "You lied,"
"Oops," Luna shrugs, "So?"
Jaemi takes a threatening step forward, haughtily smirking at her.
"You think this is funny?" She scoffs, "Who is next? Hm? First Jimin, then Jungkook, now Taehyung?"
"Oh? I thought Taehyung was my first victim?" Luna tilts her head mockingly.
"Do you really have no shame?" The guy demands, "Do you seriously think what your doing is okay?"
"Dude, my man, my guy," Luna tuts, stepping closer to him, "I have done a lot of things in my life, but none of the things you think I have done,"
"Oh really?" The other girl scoffs, "Like what?"
Luna shrugs before folding her arms smugly.
Should I?
No, it could get me in trouble.
But who would believe them?
"I've killed a man," Luna smirks, turning her darkening eyes to the guy, "Maybe tell people about that. At least then it'll be true,"
A flash of fear crosses his face before being replaced with a grin.
"Sure you have," He rolls his eyes, "You really are an attention seeker, aren't you?"
"Why don't we find out? Hm?" Luna grins, "Look up the massacre of Linder St, then meet me in that alleyway two streets over after dark,"
"Urgh, so cringe," The girl chuckles, "Why do we bother with you?"
"I don't know, why don't you tell me?" Luna moves so she is standing in front of Jaemi again. She is done, more than done. She is so close to dropping this girl harder than she has ever dropped someone.
"I thought that maybe you would have learned your lesson," Luna tsks, "I can't figure out if you're a masochist, or really fucking stupid,"
"Hey guys, what are we doing?"
Luna sighs as she looks behind her to find Taehyung standing there. He is usually very cordial with these guys, but right now he looks annoyed.
"Your girlfriend is threatening us," The guy mutters.
"Yeah! Did you know she punched Jaemi last week?" The girl says quickly. Jaemi quickly pouts, looking up at Taehyung sadly.
"Dude, if you think that hurt, wait until you find out what a broken jaw feels like," Luna steps forward, but Taehyung holds her arm to prevent her from moving closer.
Jaemi and the girl take a step back dramatically, cowering as if Luna is threatening them with a weapon.
"TaeTae," Jaemi whines, "Do you really think you should be dating someone like her?"
They look at Taehyung expectantly, as if this one statement will deter him from dating her. But even Luna is surprised by the words that come out of his mouth.
"How about you all fuck off?"
Luna looks at him, her eyebrows shooting up in shock. When she looks back, Jaemi is a blubbering and stuttering mess.
"W-What? TaeTae?" She asks uncertainly as if she didn't hear him correctly.
"You heard him," Luna smirks, "Fuck off,"
The guy sighs, taking a threatening step closer to Luna.
"You might have convinced him that you're normal, but we know you're not," He mutters before stepping even closer, "So why don't you and your stupid boyfriend leave Jaemi alone?"
"All right, that's it!" Luna snaps, shoving the guy in the chest, hard. He tumbles backwards but manages to keep his balance this time. He glares at her and charges forward.
Rookie mistake.
Luna turns, grabbing him as she brings her knee up, hitting him right in the chest. He makes a satisfying sound, like the last huff of air leaving a balloon. He collapses to the ground, clutching his sternum.
Instantly, Taehyung grabs Luna's arm and pulls her away. The girl leans down to help the guy, but Jaemi just stares at Taehyung apprehensively.
After determining that the guy is okay, Taehyung turns his attention to Jaemi, his eyes narrowed. He takes a step forward and leans down a little.
"Don't come near me, or Luna ever again," Taehyung mutters darkly, "Got it?"
Jaemi nods quickly, letting out a sound that sounds like a whimper mixed with a sob.
Taehyung spins around, grabbing Luna's hand and leading her away. After a while, she pulls out of his grip so she can hold his hand instead. He pauses, smirking down at their entwined hands happily.
Just as she starts admiring his beautiful smile, he looks up and changes his expression to one of mock disappointment. Like a parent would look at their child after doing something the parent knows they should tell them off for but don't really want to.
"What?" She smirks.
"You shouldn't have done that," He sighs.
"Why?" She grins wider, waiting for him to try to tell her off.
"Weren't you taught not to do things like that when you did martial arts in the US?" Taehyung frowns.
"Huh?" Luna tilts her head in confusion until the realisation hits.
That's right! That's what we told him! She scolds herself, recalling the conversation with Jimin when Jimin accidentally let slip that she and Jungkook had physically fought.
"Ahh, that, yes," Luna nods, trying to find the right words, "Just because I did martial arts, doesn't mean I listen well,"
Taehyung watches her for a moment, obviously not convinced by her slip-up. But, if he really doesn't believe her, he doesn't say anything. He just smirks and shakes his head.
"Hopefully they'll leave you alone now, okay?" He smiles that beautiful smile.
How did I get so lucky?
Too love drunk to correct him, she just nods enthusiastically, allowing him to lead her to their next class.
. . . . .
"Enjoy," Hoseok says smugly, placing the delicious platter of meat in front of Jimin and Luna. They eye it, drooling over the selection. He also places a pot of noodles in the middle of the table. He has gone all out for dinner tonight.
"Thank you," Luna cheers, digging in immediately. Hoseok watches them for a moment before joining in. He eats gingerly, his hand shooting to his side every so often, especially when he laughs. Luna can see a large bruise peeking out of the bottom of his shirt.
She doesn't comment on it.
"Oh, there is something I want to talk about," Luna says suddenly, grabbing their attention.
"What is it?" Jimin asks.
"It's about Jungkook," Luna says, "He hasn't been attending since Monday,"
"So? Two days away from that psycho?" Hoseok chuckles, "Isn't that a good thing? Maybe he went back home,"
"Jungkook isn't that simple," Jimin explains, "He's too stubborn to give up now. If he knows Luna is dating Taehyung, this might be a very bad sign,"
"Oh," Hoseok responds, "Yeah, that's a good point,"
"Should we... pay him a visit?" Luna suggests.
"I can drop by if you'd like, scope the place out," Hoseok offers, "I don't have any work until next week,"
"Sounds good," Jimin nods before looking at Luna, "In the meantime, I'll stick by you a bit more, okay?"
"You don't need to," Luna pouts, "I can take care of myself, you know,"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Jimin rolls his eyes, "I enrolled into university to watch out for you. So let me, ok?"
"Fine," Luna groans, feeling a little annoyed. She has had too many jabs to her pride today.
"Good," Jimin nods, returning to his dinner, a smug grin on his face.
