Chapter 14

Luna and Taehyung stare each other down, standing in the middle of the hallway on the 4th floor of the apartment complex. Taehyung's jaw is tense as he waits for her to respond, and Luna's barely controlling her anger.

She taps her foot anxiously, trying to find the right words to direct at him. She is honestly too emotionally exhausted to deal with this right now.

"Well?" He asks, filling the silence.

"Well, what?" She snaps, "How am I meant to respond to that?"

"Like an adult?" He scoffs, "Surely you know how to have a conversation,"

She cocks her eyebrow at him, taking a step closer, biting the inside of her lip.

"Like an adult? Is that what you call this?" She scoffs, "Are you buying snacks for your boyfriend?" She mimics him.

"Wow, real mature," He rolls his eyes, "I don't know why I bother,"

"How else am I meant to respond? You want me to try and have a mature conversation with a child?" She smirks, "What's the point of that? The child is just going to ask childish questions and stomp his feet, like a child," She emphasises.

"I'm not acting like a child, you are," He frowns.

"Really?" She sighs, "Let's run through the list, shall we?"

Luna holds her hand up, listing everything off with her fingers, just like he does when he is trying to prove a point to her. She takes a threatening step forward, forcing him to take a step back.

"Firstly, you get into a dick-measuring contest with my ex-boyfriend," She begins, taking another step forward while he takes one back, "Then you get angry at me because my violent ex-boyfriend cornered me," She steps again, "Then you get very obviously jealous and act like you're not," She steps again, "Then you start flirting with Jaemi," She steps again, "And then you have the audacity to be angry at me?"

Taehyung leans away from her, his eyes wide as he processes this information.

"But I'm the immature one?" She adds softly. She can feel tears pooling in her eyes, but she really doesn't care. She should have walked away and left this conversation for another day. But she snapped.

"Well..." He pouts a little, shifting through his mind to find a reason to be mad at her, "Well, why were you flirting with Jimin? You said you two don't like each other,"

"He noticed you were glaring at him, and he had a theory," Luna smirks, "Want to know what that theory was?"

"What?" He frowns, confused.

"He wanted to see if you'd get jealous," Luna explains, "So, why were you so upset when Jimin held my hand?"

Taehyung freezes as if the realisation is dawning on him. He looks like a cornered animal, looking around for a way to escape. But instead of trying to escape physically, he's trying to traverse the complex corner he has found himself in.

"Because you lied to me!" He says triumphantly, "Plus, why do you care if I flirt with Jaemi?"

"And you're lying now," Luna sighs, ignoring his question intentionally, "Listen, I don't understand what your problem is all of a sudden. But the last thing I need is for you to jump on the slut shaming bandwagon with Jaemi,"

"I'm not..." Taehyung flushes, "I'm just..."

"Okay, I am going to explain this one. Last. Time," she interrupts him firmly, stepping closer again. This time, Taehyung does not step away, "I hate Jungkook with every fibre of my being. And I do not see Jimin as an option. If I did, I'd be dating him. But I'm not, because I don't like him, understood?"

"Well..." He rolls his eyes.

"I don't like Jimin!" She yells, becoming frustrated.

"Sure," Taehyung scoffs, folding his arms.

She takes a deep breath, before spinning around and moving away from him. She sighs, rubbing her forehead as she stops to think.

What a stupid fucking situation.

Suddenly, her apartment door swings open. Hoseok pokes his head out, frowning.

"Listen," Hoseok sighs, "Everyone can probably hear you two. Why don't you continue this conversation in here?"

"No," Taehyung snaps before Luna can respond. He grabs Luna's hand and drags her down the hallway to his apartment. At the door, he lets her go, unlocking it before swinging it open. He gestures at the doorway.

"Let's talk," he says grimly, waiting for her to enter. She huffs, pouting as she looks at Hoseok. He begins encouraging her, gesturing for her to enter the apartment. She rolls her eyes, making Hoseok chuckle, before storming into Taehyung's apartment.

Taehyung enters and closes the door behind them, a little too forcefully.

Luna moves into the living room, sitting on the sofa and crossing her arms. Taehyung does the same, leaning against the arm of the chair so he is facing her.

They sit like this for a moment, the tense silence engulfing them like a physical gloomy cloud – it's suffocating.

Luna still doesn't understand Taehyung's anger toward her. She can't voice exactly why she's upset with him, because that would involve confessing to him.

She turns on the sofa, mirroring Taehyung's seating position. She glares at him, her jaw tense and her eyes narrowed as she waits for him to speak. She has said as much as she can, it's his turn.

He seems to understand that she's waiting for him, as he sighs deeply, but doesn't speak.

She gives in.

"So," She breathes, "Why were you hanging out with Jaemi?" She asks.

Taehyung bites his lip, looking down at his lap.

"Well?" She asks again.

"Because she's more fun to hang around," He shrugs, continuing to avert his eyes.

Fuck you.

Luna stands up, startling Taehyung. He looks up at her, surprised to see tears sliding down her cheeks.

"Fuck off," She spits bitterly, "You barely knew her! You even looked disgusted when I said she was going to confess to you, so why?!"

He blinks at her, watching as her chest heaves with unreleased emotion. He frowns, standing up beside her.

"Want to know the truth, huh?" he snaps, "Because I noticed it made you angry, happy?"

"What? Why would you want to make me angry?" Luna asks ludicrously, "What on earth did I do to deserve that?"

"Deserve?" He scoffs, "Why did it hurt you so much?"

She tithers on the verge of speech but closes her mouth quickly. Now is not the time for a confession. She can't do it. It hurts too much already; she doesn't need to be rejected again on top of that.

"Why did it hurt you so much that Jimin looked at me?" Luna retorts.

"Just because!" He yells, his fists clenched by his side.

"Tell me!" She yells back.

"NO!" He yells louder.

"WHY?" She yells back.

"BECAUSE I LIKE YOU, OKAY?" He snaps.

Huh?

"What?" She blinks.

"Argh, fuck it!" He shouts.

Suddenly, he steps forward, placing one hand on the middle of her back and the other on her neck. He pulls her towards him, so she is flush against him. Her lips are inches from his lips. Here, he pauses, looking into her eyes as if searching for something.

"I'm going to kiss you," He says firmly, "because I like you, okay?"

Immediately, Luna nods vigorously, stunned by his sudden aggression. Before she can even pause to consider what she is agreeing to, he presses his lips against hers.

At first, he is gentle, his lips lightly grazing against hers. But it quickly becomes passionate as he pulls her closer, deepening the kiss. He lets out a sound that sounds like a mixture between a groan and a chuckle as he clings to her, his hands shaking slightly. She relaxes, pouring all of the emotions from today into this one kiss, clutching his shirt with her fists. She wants to say so many things; she wants to say everything.

Question after question bombards her. What does this mean? Where is this going? Does he really like her? Was he really jealous? Was he trying to make her jealous? Does he know she also likes him?

I need answers, now!

She pulls away a little, looking up at him. His eyes are intense, full of so much emotion. Anger and frustration, but also passion and need. For a moment, she can't breathe. How can she talk while he's looking at her like this?

"What?" He breathes, frowning a little.

She opens her mouth to voice her curiosity but closes it again. She's not sure if it's because the kiss was so sudden, or because her emotions are all over the place today, but she is just overwhelmed. Her mind is in complete disarray.

"I... my brain..." She gulps, "I need to think," She breathes. She gently tugs out of his embrace before practically sprinting from the apartment, closing the door behind her.

She runs to her apartment, swinging the door open before rushing into the lounge room.

Jimin and Hoseok are sitting on the sofa comfortably, a glass of what smells like whiskey each, playing on their phones.

She looks between them, her heart racing and her lips tingling as if reminding her of Taehyung's lips.

"Oh, hey, Luna," Hoseok smiles, looking up at her.

She gives him a weak smile, moving into the kitchen swiftly. She has no idea when or how they got alcohol, but she is grateful. She pours herself 3 shots worth of the burning liquor, downing it quickly.

"Are you okay?" Luna looks up to find Jimin and Hoseok standing on the other side of the kitchen bench, watching her warily.

"I'm fine," She croaks, the dark liquid burning her insides, but not as much as Taehyung did.

"No, you're not," Jimin replies, "Why are you so red?"

At this, she blushes even more, her cheeks heating up rapidly.

"Wait," A huge grin slowly forms on Hoseok's face as he points at her, "Did you two...?"

"No way!" Jimin gasps, "Did you?" He jumps a little, becoming excited by the unsaid confirmation. She fills her glass with some more alcohol before heading to her room, ignoring the cheers and laughter from the kitchen.

Once she closes her door behind her, her phone chirps to let her know that she has received a text. She places the drink down and checks it.

TAE: I'll see you Monday. Do you want to walk to Uni together?

She frowns, grimacing as she shakes her head rapidly at the text. The confusion is so overwhelming that she starts to shiver as if she is cringing at the text.

"What?" She breathes, "Walk? What?"

She is completely bewildered. He just angry-kissed her after being a jerk for the past few days, and now he wants to walk to school with her again?

"How does this make sense? How?" She whispers to herself, blinking rapidly as she stares at the screen.

Then, the memory of the kiss hits her like an 8-tonne truck full of rocks. His soft lips, his intense eyes, the way he clung to her like she was the last drop of water in existence. She shivers again, wiggling as she tries to shake the memory from her mind, physically.

But her neck, her lips, and her lower back, they continue to tingle. Little reminders from her nerves that it did happen. Her lower abdomen aches as her stomach starts training for Olympic gymnastics.

Eventually, she responds.

LUNA: Yeah, sure.

That's it, nice a simple.

This boy is going to make me have a heart attack.

. . . . .

"Good morning," Jimin grins, wiggling his eyebrows as Taehyung reaches them. Luna shuffles uncomfortably, refusing to make eye contact with either of them.

"Let's go," she says firmly, turning and walking towards the elevator.

Luna remains silent throughout the entire walk to school, Taehyung and Jimin walking behind her. They are talking about various things, but Jimin keeps trying to bring the conversation back to the incident on the weekend.

"So, how are your studies going?" Taehyung asks.

"Good, very good," Jimin sighs, "How are your studies going? Studying anything... interesting?" He snickers. She can't see him, but she can picture the shit-eating grin on his face as he says that.

She begins tuning them out, refusing to help Taehyung out of the awkward situation he is now in.

He wanted to walk with us again, he can put up with Jimin. Luna smirks to herself. She had to endure Jimin's little suggestive remarks all weekend – now it is Taehyung's turn.

Soon they reach the school and begin heading to classes, leaving Luna and Taehyung to walk beside each other in silence.

They reach the classroom and sit in their usual seats. Well, that's what Luna thought. Instead, Taehyung takes the seat beside her, completely ignoring Jaemi as she tries to get his attention. She keeps talking to him while he silently pulls out his laptop and gets ready for class. After a while, she gives up, giving Luna a quick terrified glance.

Luna smirks at her, observing the faded blossoming bruise on her jaw. She punched her last Thursday afternoon, yet it is still swollen. Luna can barely see the blotch of purple under Jaemi's makeup. She has done a good job of covering it, but makeup can't cover swelling or pain.

"You did a good job,"

Luna jumps, startled by Jungkook's voice as he observes Jaemi, his chin millimetres from her shoulder.

"What are you talking about?" Luna mutters, shoving him roughly away from her.

"Jaemi's jaw," Jungkook points, "Everyone knows what happened,"

Luna looks around, suddenly realising the furtive looks from Jaemi's friends. Of course, Jaemi wouldn't have wasted any time telling people.

At least this rumour is true.

Luna scoffs, shaking her head slightly.

"She deserved it," Luna mutters, "Now go away,"

Jungkook chuckles, pulling out his laptop before getting comfortable in the seat beside her.

"I think you know that's not going to happen, babe," Jungkook grins.

Luna rolls her eyes, shuffling so she is closer to Taehyung. He stiffens beside her as her leg becomes flush against his. She looks up before remembering the awkwardness between them. But when she looks at him, he's not blushing. Instead, he's glaring at Jungkook, looking past her.

I guess nothing really changed, huh?

The professor enters the classroom, forcing Luna to pull her focus from the two grumpy men beside her.

It doesn't take long for class to finish, or the next class. Throughout the two hours, Taehyung keeps accidentally brushing against her. They have said sorry to each other more in this time than any other time. Luna has also blushed so much that she's starting to worry that she now has high blood pressure. Even Taehyung's ears are permanently pink from the awkwardness between them.

All this, of course, doesn't go unnoticed by Jungkook. At the end of the second class, he decides to speak up.

As Luna finishes packing her things and stands to leave, he grabs a hold of her bag, forcing her to stay put.

"We need to talk," Jungkook says quietly, obviously annoyed.

"No," Luna snaps, trying to pull her bag out of his grip. But he just holds it tighter, as if threatening to break it if she keeps pulling. She rolls her eyes, looking down at him with her eyebrows raised.

"What do you want?" She demands. Taehyung stands behind her, glaring down at Jungkook.

"Not here," Jungkook glances at Taehyung before continuing, "In private,"

"No, thank you," She scoffs, "Ask here,"

"It's about work," Jungkook smirks, "Do you still want me to continue?"

Luna tenses her jaw, considering him. Surely, he wouldn't tell on himself, right?

He wouldn't need to; I can't take that risk.

She sighs, turning to Taehyung. He turns his eyes to her, frowning deeply. He already knows exactly what she is about to say.

"You think I'm actually going to leave you alone with him?" He scoffs, "No way,"

"5 minutes," Luna mumbles. The classroom is already empty, the teacher long gone from the room. It is just them now.

Taehyung looks from Jungkook to Luna again, considering it.

"I'll be counting down," Taehyung mutters, storming down the row, down the stairs, and out the door.

"All right," Luna turns back to Jungkook, "Time is ticking, what do you want?"

Jungkook scoffs, letting go of her bag as he stands in front of her. He slides his backpack onto his shoulder before folding his arms. He narrows his eyes, lifting his chin slightly so he can look down at her. He's pretty pissed about something.

Probably the fact that I am not cowering after he threatened me with The Eye.

"What's going on with you two," Jungkook mutters, flicking his finger between Luna and the door, where Taehyung would be waiting.

"Nothing," Luna flushes slightly, "Why?"

"You two are acting weird," He comments, "Tell me the truth,"

Luna rolls her eyes, trying to cover up the shivers that ran through her at his tone of voice. Jungkook hates lies, she knows that, she's seen that.

"We kissed," She shrugs, "And we haven't talked about it,"

Jungkook scoffs, turning away from her. Suddenly, he kicks the chair, cursing in anger. He turns back to her. This time, instead of anger, or annoyance in his eyes she finds something she wasn't expecting; hurt.

"Seriously? You've moved on that easily?" Jungkook spits, "Did I mean nothing to you?"

Now it's Luna's turn to scoff as she folds her arms across her chest.

"Says the one who cheated on me," Luna murmurs, "We aren't together Jungkook. It's been over a month since we broke up,"

"Saying 'fuck you' and ignoring my calls is not a breakup," Jungkook snaps.

"Ah, well..." Luna smirks, "Jungkook, let's break up,"

Jungkook steps closer, his muscles tensing as he glares down at her.

"This isn't a fucking game, Faith," Jungkook sneers. Instantly, Luna shoves him, pushing him back barely a metre.

"Don't call me that," She hisses, "You have no right to be acting hurt right now! You cheated on me, Jungkook. I want nothing to do with you!"

"What if I apologised," he mumbles. He looks away from her, but as his shoulders hunch and his throat bobbles, she knows he's upset. Like, genuinely, upset.

"Sorry isn't going to cut it," Luna mutters, "I didn't leave you just because you cheated, I left because of why you cheated. And considering you're already threatening me with the Eye again, you couldn't care less. So why should I?"

"Luna," Jungkook sighs, sliding his hand into hers with a gentleness she wasn't expecting, "I really... you were the only light in my life... I miss you; I need you... my mind is a mess... please..."

I'm not falling for this bullshit... not again.

Roughly, Luna pulls from his grip, taking a step away from him.

"Jungkook, you don't know how to love, don't lie to me," She scoffs, "Just stay away from me,"

She turns and moves down the row, ready to leave the classroom. Before she can get far, she is pulled backward. Jungkook spins her around, shoving her roughly onto a seat. He pins her down by her shoulders, looming over her. She gasps as the wind is knocked from her lungs, looking up at him. His eyes are watery, barely holding in the tears he wants to release. But this subtle reminder of his humanity does not dissuade her from glaring at him with pure hatred.

"I. Don't. Lie," Jungkook growls through gritted teeth, his jaw trembling along with his hands, from barely contained anger.

Suddenly, he is wrenched harshly onto his side. Taehyung stands in front of her, holding his hand out for her to take. He just kicked Jungkook to the side, hard. She didn't even hear him come in. Gratefully, she allows him to stand her up. Taehyung glares down at Jungkook for a moment, before leading Luna out of the room. She doesn't bother looking back at him, she just hopes he doesn't retaliate.

Taehyung leads her out into an empty courtyard before letting her go. He begins pacing in front of her while she sits down on the bench. She watches him walk backwards and forwards in front of her, his fists clenching and unclenching.

Ah, he's jealous again.

"I just want to ask one thing," Taehyung demands suddenly, walking over and sitting beside her. He has his body turned so he's facing her, still clenching his fists in front of him while leaning forward.

"Okay," She sighs.

"Did you feel anything at all when I kissed you?"

Luna blinks at him, her heart skipping a beat as her brain slowly registers his question.

What?

(A/N) Ah, I am not good at writing Kiss scenes 😅
