Chapter 12
All I have wanted for so long is a normal life. A normal family with normal friends in a normal house on a normal street in a normal city. To attend a normal school with normal worries.
But why does it feel like I have entered Korean Drama land?
Am I really not allowed to just exist without people invading my space and my life? Does drama just follow me everywhere?
Is this really normal?
I thought living as an assassin was the hardest part of my life. Or my terrifying, traumatic childhood where I was a target for those who hated my father. But no, school drama is going to be the thing that tips me over the edge?
Do I really want this drama to be my undoing?
. . . . .
Luna gets up, as she usually does, to prepare for a big day at Uni, like she usually does.
Showered, fed, and walking out the door, a new routine for her. Jimin follows her out and Hoseok says his goodbyes. As usual.
Jimin doesn't bother waiting for Taehyung or comment on his sudden absence from their morning routine. Either he has found out what happened on his own, or he can sense the foreboding aura coming from Luna and has decided not to ask questions for his own safety.
Luckily, it is Friday, so she will have two days' break from these people. Maybe this is the true hell of schooling that people complained about, the one thing she never thought would be a problem: Other people.
So, they walk in silence, Jimin tense and Luna trying to enjoy the beautiful weather instead of thinking about Taehyung.
"Luna... are you okay?" Jimin asks finally as they enter the school.
"I'd rather not talk about it," Luna responds coldly, turning to head to her class.
"Wait," Jimin jogs so he's standing in her way. She folds her arms and glares at him. Surely, if he's this insistent he must know already.
"What?" She snaps.
"I spoke to Taehyung yesterday," Jimin says quickly, "But... I'm confused..."
"Oh?" Luna frowns, "What did he say?"
"He said he's avoiding you because you made your problems his problem and then accused him of something..." He says, "What did you accuse him of?"
"Being jealous," Luna says bluntly.
Might as well get it over and done with, right?
"Wait... now I'm just more confused," Jimin shakes his head, "He's mad because you said he was being jealous? Of who?"
"Jungkook,"
"What makes you think that?" Jimin asks.
Luna proceeds to explain what had happened in the classroom and how Taehyung had walked in right when she pushed Jungkook into the pile of tables. She then goes on to explain how Taehyung thought she didn't need help and was enjoying herself with Jungkook.
Jimin listens intently, nodding along with Luna's explanation of the events. Once she is finished, he sighs.
"Yeah, that does sound like jealousy," Jimin tilts his head frowning, "But then he responded with..."
"You think I like you? Don't make me laugh," Luna quotes, "And it hurt! If anyone should be avoiding anyone right now, it should be me avoiding him. But he's avoiding me, talking to Jaemi of all people, as if I was the one who said something cruel,"
"How is that cruel? Wait..." Jimin smirks, "Do you like Taehyung?"
"Obviously I do!" Luna shouts, grabbing the attention of a few passing students. She clears her throat and waits for them to leave.
"All right, calm down now..." Jimin pinches his lips together, trying not to laugh, "I'll tease you later. For now, let's try and figure out why he's angry, okay?"
"I don't care, I'm done," Luna snaps, her voice becoming deadly low, "I'm done playing these stupid games with Jungkook, I'm done trying to make friends, I'm done with emotions and feelings. I just want to go to school and graduate. Fuck all of you!"
"Hey... I didn't do anything wrong," Jimin mumbles, looking hurt.
"I don't care!" Luna snaps, trying to keep her volume low, "Listen, I am grateful to you, I really am. But I can't keep dealing with all this. I don't want to be friends with anyone, okay?"
Jimin blinks at her, his face dropping slowly as her rejection sinks in. He slides his hands into his pockets and looks at the ground, letting out a little sigh.
"I understand you're angry at them," Jimin mumbles before raising his saddened eyes to her, "But don't lump me in with them, I'm trying to help,"
She breathes and turns away from him, moving over to a bench. He follows her, sitting beside her as she slumps forward on the seat.
"You're right, I'm sorry," Luna mutters, "I just... I wasn't expecting this sort of drama..."
"Honestly? Me neither," Jimin chuckles as he whispers, "I thought I was going to have to try and hide a body on this campus full of surveillance cameras,"
"Honestly?" Luna smirks, "Same,"
"Anyway, Jungkook is confusing," Jimin sighs, "So is Taehyung..."
"Jungkook could easily just try to take me back by force," Luna points out, "I don't know what game he's trying to play..."
"But I do want to point something out," Jimin interrupts, "This really is a normal life,"
"Huh? All this drama?" Luna frowns, "I don't think so,"
"No matter where you go, you're going to have personality clashes and such," Jimin explains, "There are going to be shitty people everywhere,"
"But still..." Luna pouts, "It's annoying... it's hard..."
"Well, Tae isn't your first heartbreak, nor your worst," Jimin adds, "And Jaemi is nothing in comparison to some of the people you have dealt with,"
Luna considers this for a moment. She had never thought of this. Once she decided to start anew, she really said goodbye to all those memories and experiences, for her own sanity. But the more she thinks about it, the more trivial this situation is.
Smiling, she turns her attention to Jimin.
"Thank you," She replies, "I really needed that reminder,"
Jimin chuckles, standing up and holding his hand out for her.
"It's what I'm here for," He notes, "A good friend, so treat me as such, okay?"
Luna takes his hand and allows him to lift her up. He slides his arm over her shoulders, playfully tugging her to his side as they begin walking towards the building.
"So, I'm not allowed to threaten you anymore?" Luna pouts as Jimin chuckles.
"No, I love how our friendship is right now," Jimin admits, "Just don't actually kill me, okay?"
"All right," Luna sighs dramatically, "I guess I won't kill you,"
"Plus," Jimin smirks, "I love your threats, they're adorable,"
At this comment, Luna jabs him in the ribs, forcing him to jump away from her. He clutches his side, whining as she laughs at him.
"Ow!" He cries, "What was that for?"
"Calling me adorable," Luna chuckles, "Do it again and I might kill you,"
"Ah, so adorable," He wiggles cutely, pointing at her.
She smirks, which is his first warning sign. He takes off, his yellow bag bouncing joyfully as his playful laughter reaches her. She goes to run after him but stops.
Taehyung is standing nearby, leaning against a side wall of the building. From where he is standing, he might have seen and heard most of their conversation.
How much did he hear?
Luna's heart jumps into her throat as she realises the conversation she just had with Jimin. Did Taehyung hear her confession?
She doesn't need to ponder this for long as Taehyung looks up and makes eye contact with her. His jaw is tense, and his eyes are narrowed. Surely, if he had heard her confession he wouldn't look so pissed off, right?
Right?
"Luna?" Jimin calls out, rushing back. He stops as he spots Taehyung glaring at her. He looks between them for a moment before moving forward to grab Luna's wrist.
"Come on, class time, death stare later," Jimin mumbles, giving Taehyung a smile.
Taehyung doesn't respond, other than turning his glowering eyes to Jimin. Luna lets Jimin lead her away from the uncomfortable situation. Once they are inside the building and she can't see Taehyung anymore, she pulls away.
"Thanks," She murmurs.
"I don't know what that was about, and I don't really want to be involved with that one," Jimin comments, holding his hands up as if he is surrendering, "So, let's go to class and you can deal with all that later, okay?"
"What do you mean deal with it?" Luna mumbles, pausing at the point they must split away from each other.
"Confess of course," Jimin smirks, "Might as well get everything out, right?"
"No way," Luna mutters, "I'd rather die,"
Jimin shrugs, turning to head down the hallway that leads to his class.
"It's up to you, but it'll solve all your issues," he says as he begins walking away. She watches him go, frowning at his retreating back before heading to her own class.
. . . . .
"So, how was class?" Jimin asks as they sit down to eat lunch. Luna sighs loudly, making Jimin laugh.
"That bad, huh?" He chuckles.
"Just Jungkook being Jungkook, you know?" Luna mutters.
"Nothing from Taehyung?" Jimin asks curiously.
"No, which was strange," Luna observes, "He was just sitting there silently doing his work,"
"Huh," Jimin looks off past Luna's shoulder, making her turn and follow his gaze. Taehyung and Jaemi are sitting nearby talking comfortably with each other. Jaemi runs her fingers across Taehyung's arms, giggling as she gives him those dewy eyes. Taehyung laughs in response, leaning closer to her. Luna can feel her heartbeat in her throat, so she averts her eyes.
She rolls her eyes and turns back to Jimin.
"I can't stand him, why did I bother making friends? Hm?" Luna mumbles aloud, not expecting a response.
Jimin sits in silence, watching Taehyung over Luna's shoulder for a very long time. She frowns at him as his expression changes multiple times as if his face is voicing the thoughts running through his head. His expression goes from confusion to consideration, to understanding, to mischievous.
Oh no, what are you thinking, Jimin?
"I have an idea," Jimin mumbles. She looks up from her food as he begins shuffling his seat around, so he is sitting adjacent to her, rather than opposite her at the little square table.
"What are you doing?" Luna asks. Jimin doesn't respond. Instead, he grabs Luna's hand and entwines her fingers with his. He stares off into the distance as if focusing on his peripheral vision. After he starts smirking, Luna slides her hand out of his grip.
"Dude, what are you doing?"
"Experimenting," Jimin smirks, finally turning his eyes to her. He leans in closer, his face almost inches from hers.
"Y-Yah!" Luna snaps, pushing him so he is leaning back against his chair. He chuckles, leaning forward again.
"Stop, I'm testing something," He grins, "Do you like me?"
"What?!" Luna hisses.
Jimin starts chuckling, gently patting her shoulder.
What the fuck is going on? Has the world gone insane?
He glances past her again before sitting back in his seat. He begins shuffling his chair, so he is back in the spot he was in before, a smug look on his face.
"Jimin, I swear to god if you don't tell me what that was all about, I am going to punch you," Luna mutters sternly.
"Look," Jimin points behind her. She looks over her shoulder, finding exactly what Jimin was observing so intensely.
Taehyung is no longer sitting at the table. Now, it is only Jaemi sitting there by herself, looking distraught. Luna looks back at Jimin, frowning.
"What did I miss? What happened?"
"He stormed off," Jimin smirks, "After sending me the sort of look that could kill,"
"I don't get it," Luna mutters. Jimin turns his eyes to her, tilting his head mockingly.
"He was jealous," Jimin points to himself, "Because of me,"
"Jealous?" Luna frowns, thinking about what Jimin was doing, "Wait, jealous of you... because of me?"
"Bingo," Jimin claps, leaning back in his seat smugly as if he just accomplished the impossible. Luna blinks at him for a moment before bursting into laughter.
"Yah, seriously?" She laughs, "He doesn't like me. He's just being a jerk,"
"Sure, lovebird," Jimin smirks, jumping up from his seat and sprinting away.
"YAH!" Luna stands, ready to run after him. But someone holds her in place. She sighs, recognising the sensation immediately.
"We need to talk," Jungkook mutters, his voice deep with emotion. He's pissed at her.
Lord, give me strength.
She sighs and follows Jungkook away from the other students to an empty path with a bench. As much as she should be thinking over Jungkook's sudden anger, she can't stop thinking about Jimin's words.
"He was jealous," Jimin points to himself, "Because of me,"
Was Taehyung actually jealous, or did Jimin misunderstand?
"You think I like you? Don't make me laugh,"
No, Taehyung doesn't like her. He made that perfectly clear.
Then why did Taehyung leave? What did Jimin see Taehyung do?
Luna takes a seat on the bench while Jungkook stands in front of her. He has his arms folded as he looks down at her. The last time she saw this expression on his face was when he was jealous of Jimin.
Is he... jealous of Jimin again?
"What?" Luna asks.
"Are you and Jimin dating?" He asks bluntly.
Ah, he is jealous of Jimin again.
"No," She replies firmly, "Why?"
"All... that bullshit," He gestures vaguely at her, "just then... that was incredibly suggestive... even your other little boyfriend ran off,"
Luna rolls her eyes.
"No, Jimin and I aren't dating. We will never, ever, date. I am a single pringle, not ready to mingle. But I will mangle all of you if you keep acting like this," She chuckles, leaning back on the bench casually.
Jungkook leans from one foot to the other before finally sitting beside her. He leans forward, his hands clasped in front of him as he rests his arms on his knees. He turns his head in her direction, pinching his lips nervously.
"So, you have no feelings for him?" He asks seriously.
"No," Luna replies, "Either way, at the end of the day, whether Jimin and I hate each other or fuck each other, none of it is your business, understood?"
"No, it is my business," Jungkook turns his body so he's facing her, sitting up straighter, "Because you are mine, understood?" He mutters sarcastically.
"I'm not going to explain the concept of a breakup or the concept of cheating to you. You can think what you like. But once you start getting annoying, I'm calling my brother," Luna smirks.
Jungkook stiffens at this but doesn't show any discomfort on his face. He smirks in return, getting up from the bench.
"I doubt it," He mutters, "Plus, do you really want to risk it?"
"Risk what? Him finding me?" Luna scoffs. Jungkook leans down, placing his hand on the seat behind her so he can loom over her. She empties her expression of any emotion, so he understands that he doesn't affect her as he once did.
"Do you want to risk The Eye finding you too?" He asks softly, tilting his head with that psychotic look in his eyes as his breath glides over her skin.
"What do they have to do with this?" Luna says firmly, forcing her fear deep down inside her.
"Well, I found you... and I think they would be interested to know, especially now Daddy and Big Bro aren't here to protect you," Jungkook chuckles deeply, standing up, "Just think about it, okay?"
Luna doesn't respond, watching him saunter away cockily, as if he has won.
She stands and begins pacing, her hands trembling slightly at the sudden reminder of him.
The Eye, the leader of another infamous gang back home, is the reason for the majority of her trauma. The reason why she trained so hard to protect herself, the reason why she became the best. But most importantly, the reason why she can't be intimate without panicking. Then, in turn, the reason Jungkook cheated on her.
Would he really tell The Eye where she is?
Fuming, Luna begins heading to class, burying the instant flashbacks so she can attend class comfortably. He can't affect her like that, and she can't give in.
She will make him regret threatening her with The Eye.
(A/N) Ooo is The Eye involved? 😱
