8:30 a.m.

Kylie woke up. She got out of bed to do her morning routine, which involved washing her hair and washing her face with Purity cleanser. Afterward, she went into the dining room where her family was sitting. They had just finished their scrambled egg breakfast.

"You're up later than usual," remarked Richard, her father. Richard was a fairly tall man with a laid-back aura, but not this time. He had a look of despair in his eyes.

"Yeah, I guess so," replied Kylie. She then went into the kitchen to pour herself a bowl of Frosted Flakes.

Her mother, Susan, also went into the kitchen. Susan was a knowledgable woman and a typical mama bear who had the looks of Jennifer Garner.

"I can't believe it's been a year," she said.

"Huh? Oh. Yeah," Kylie said as her face went from confusion to uncomfortable realization. At that moment, the news lady on TV, Tamika Powers, started talking about the event now known as The Silverton Horror. The label alone sounded like a movie James Wan would direct.

"Even one year later, we still don't know what truly happened in that house. Many say it was the work of CGI, but a few others believe it was for real," Tamika said.

"To say we were horrified would be an understatement," Susan remembered. "We had no idea what happened to you and Danny. We couldn't find you anywhere. Then, Mr. Sanchez showed us that video of our house that went viral- dear God, it was a horror movie come to life." Mr. Sanchez, along with the other neighbors, captured on video the house flashing and Kent Parker, Robert West, and Jennifer Carson's spirits getting released into the afterlife. "Then Sanchez said you were going to d-" Susan stopped talking and started crying.

Kylie hugged her mother, "But I'm here now, and that's all that matters. So is Danny."

"Mom, please don't cry," Danny chimed in.

"I know," Susan replied, her voice trailing.

"It's just we didn't know how to handle all this. It was coming at us so fast," Richard finished for Susan. "Now, the house is fine, and we are doing our best to get back to a normal life."

"Yeah... and we can start by finishing breakfast," said Kylie. "I don't want to start today on this kind of note."
