Hero and Enemy

The sound of thunder keeps getting louder as the rain pours down onto Earth. Its water flows on the ground, the roads and everything it touches, making it slippery and wet. Two figures are in the sky, one floating with injuries on him while the other seems unharmed.

"Say, I didn't know you're this good at dodging. I thought you villains would be more clumsy than me, Nomi." The injured one said with a sly smirk on his face. The other, Nomi, shows no emotions about it. He seems very uninterested in discussing it further about.

"You seem more distracted than being a hero, Randall. You should be aware." Nomi simply said before striking his katana, his weapon of choice towards the hero, only to be clashed against Randy's sword. The two repelled each other and gave each other a battle stare.

How long have they been battling? Randy couldn't remember, but he knew it's been more than 3 years. He's now finally reaching his adulthood of 18 years old. Nomi, on the other hand, reached his age of 19. They really had a long history together.

Nomi's purpose of attacking Randy's home, Norrisville, is still a mystery. Why is he attacking? Randy wasn't sure. There has got to be a better reason than taking over the world. That's so cliche. Soon enough, the rain keeps on pouring, and both are drenched from the rain. They both agreed its not a good set to continue the battle.

"I'll be taking my leave, Randall. But don't you think I'll stop from achieving my revenge." Nomi said before vanishing mysteriously, something that Randy still hasn't getting a grip on. He went back to his home to see Howard waiting for him.

"Cunningham, you're back. How's everything?" He asked, eating his hotdogs that he held in his hands.

"It's all good, buddy. Just been alright." Randy simply replies and lays down tiredly. Howard knew about his secret of being a hero and kept it a secret for as long as they remembered.

"I still don't get it. Why is Nomi keep attacking the city? He doesn't seem like the type to do so." Randy asked to get some theories on.

"I'm not sure as well, dude. You'll find out sooner or later." Howard said as he finished his food. Randy nods and looks at his board, filled with notes and words, thinking about what kind of purpose of Nomi's attack. He did mention revenge. Is there something to it?

"There's got to be a reason." Randy thought and kept on theorising while Howard went home for the day. It's getting late anyway.

Nomi arrived at his home and lays down tiredly. His poker face loosened, and finally, he can show a little bit of his own feelings. He looked at the mirror and looked at a family photo he kept on it. A family of 9, including him as a normal 16 year old with his brothers and sisters. His face scrunched as he remembers what Norrisville has done to them.

"Be strong, my little children. Mama and Papa will come back soon for you."

"Mama, don't go!"

"Please come back to us!"

"No, please don't leave us!"

Nomi opened his eyes in fury, and his anger boils more. Norrisville killed them.

They killed them all.

He was left alone, no more brothers and sisters, no more parents, no one to help him.

He is alone now.

Nomi looked at the mirror and hissed in anger.

"They'll pay for what they've done." He said as he got ready for his next attack. But as he was about to plan his new attack, another sudden attack happened near the city. What is going on? He rushed towards the city, hiding on the building, and witnessed a new battle between a new villain and Randy.

This should be interesting.

The villain, the sorcerer, attacks using spells and potions. Randy can barely dodge them for his and the citizen's safety. Nomi keeps watching and witnessing the attack he didn't expect.

A murder.

A body was in front of Randy, a chubby one, in fact. Randy seems shocked and filled with trauma. Wait, trauma? Randy rushed towards the body to try and heal him, but unable to. To think it'll happen now is a bit too fast, but it did. This angers Randy, and he went ham and cheese on Sorcerer. The attacks are more violent and revengeful. Now he knew how Nomi had been feeling.

The Sorcerer flee, leaving Randy holding the body in tears. His love for his best friend shatters, and he feels broken. He buried his friend underground and gave respect towards him before he went back home in sorrow. Nomi, witnessing everything, felt a sharp sting in his heart. Randy needs comfort. But why is he feeling like this?

Nomi sighed and walked towards Randy's house and could sense a dark aura around it. Randy lays on his bed in sorrow only to hear a knock on the window. He opened it and saw Nomi, still in the rain, holding a plastic bag that seemed pretty heavy. But Randy doesn't feel to do anything with Nomi.

"Nomi, can we fight tomorrow? I have no energy to even talk to you." Randy said, sounding very tired. Nomi sighed and floated towards him.

"You need some comfort." He said and went inside, placing some food and drinks on the table. Randy checks the contents of the food but sees no signs of poison. Not a single drop.

"What the juice are you planning? I'm confused." Randy asked as he looked at Nomi for answers. Nomi looks aside before sighing.

"I witnessed everything that happened, Randy. I know how you feel." He said, holding a box of ramen and cooks them.

"What are you talking about?" Randy asked, still cautious around Nomi.

"Why do you think I want revenge on Norrisville? They killed my whole family, all 8 of them. They didn't listen to my family, so I'll get my revenge for them." Nomi said, eating his noodles. Randy feels guilty, and Nomi experienced more deaths than him.

"I-I'm sorry." Randy said, unable to say anything.

"... It's okay, I get it." Nomi simply replied and finished his food.

"So how are we gonna beat Sorcerer?" He asked. Randy looks at him confused.

"Pardon?" He asked.

"Only I can harm you, not him." Nomi said as he cleans his hand.

"Only I can be your only nemesis, Sorcerer needs to be out of the picture." He said again, looking at Randy gently. Randy felt his cheeks turn red, feeling a bit flustered at Nomi's words.

"I didn't know you were such a flirt." Randy joked to get the feeling away, but it only grew stronger.

"I'm not flirting, I'm merely stating facts. Having a disturbance like him will ruin my chances of my revenge. So it's either we team up or you do it yourself." Nomi said and about to leave the room but was held back by Randy.

"Okay, okay, come here. I have a plan."

Long after a while, they went through the plan to deceive Sorcerer, and it worked wonderfully. The Sorcerer is greedy with power. He fell to their traps and can never return back again.

Randy was relaxing on the rooftop and felt Nomi was beside him. He did a small smile as some blushes crept on his face.

"Hey, what's the most handsome guy doing here?" Randy jokes while flirting, and Nomi, for the first time, chuckles.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that then?" He said and sat next to him. Randy can feel his cheeks being red, and he doesn't mind it. This is the moment of relaxation. They both have been taking some day off together.

"Well, things did take a turn, but hey, here we are. Back as old nemesis, hm?" Randy said, offering his hand towards Nomi. Nomi held Randy's hand and gently caressed it.

"Yeah, old nemesis with some benefits." He said, and Randy feels his cheeks becoming more red than before. He looked away all flustered until he saw the police at a crime scene. He went towards them curiously.

"Officers, what's going on?" Randy asked. The police sighed.

"A crime scene was reported, and it seems like Nomi was the one who did it." They all explained. Nomi was behind Randy, so he heard everything.

"I was never here for a whole week. I didn't do this." He said, feeling a bit angry that someone was framing him. The officers were sure it was Nomi.

"Oh yeah, who witnessed you then?" They asked, and Randy looked at them.

"I did. I was with Nomi the entire time." Randy said, still blushing by the thought of him and Nomi together back then. They had some 'private' moments, to say the least.

"I'll get my hands on whoever framed me." Nomi said and floated upwards to the sky, with Randy following him from behind.

"Let's go, my enemy." Randy smiled. Nomi nods.

"After you, my enemy." He said, and onwards they both to seek for their new future.
