Hiding My True Self
I jumped into the snow smiling, it's powdery look always made me happy, especially when mother and father were fighting. Fox followed me his face didn't show excitement, but he still played with me, to make me not feel alone. My scales changed colors, a bright pink and purple,"FOX LOOK AT ME!!" I jumped and buried my muzzle into the snow, steam bellowed into the air as I blew fire onto the snow.
He snorted and poked a claw at my side,"what did mother and father say about your scales, keep them close to an Icewing colors."
I lowered my head ashamed,"oh sorry Fox, it's just hard to keep boring colors on my scales especially when I'm happy."
Fox sighed and shook his head, "just change your scales, please."
I looked down sadly and changed my colors to the lightest purple I could find, still adding so color to my scales. It's been four years since I had hatched and everyday, Fox seemed to grow farther away, he didn't even act like a brother anymore. Not since he started training for the ranks, he was already in fifth rank so close to living within the palace walls.
Fox smiled and padded the top of my head,"there we go, close to being like us- too bad we can't hide the frills and glow markings then you'd be a TRUE Icewing."
"But I don't wanna be a normal Icewing- I want to be myself, the real me that can change colors and be happy for who I am..."
"Well you can't Tundra- it's either you're one of us- or you leave." After mother and father heard the name that I had chosen for myself they quickly changed it to a name that was more... APPROPRIATE to the Icewing kingdom. Let me tell you this, I am NOT a Tundra.
I sighed with defeat,"ok Fox- I'm sorry." Emptiness filled my soul, I would never be my self- ever.
"Come on Tundra, I need to leave for training soon- today we're doing sky battling, and I'm teamed up with the weakest Icewing on the battlefield. If you want you can come watch me and the others?" His dark blue eyes were hopeful as a dragon who gets a whole polar bear for themselves.
I gave him a little smile and nodded,"sure, yeah I'll come."

I sat near the edge of the snow bank a little ways away from Fox's training group, but close enough to hear them.
"Alright I already assigned you to your opponent, shoot into the sky and battle, remember no severe injuries." The head Icewing said, his face showing that he wasn't excited to be doing this.
I kneaded the snow as I concentration, my talons burning from the cold. I was never really to find of the snow, the water was more my thing or I like hanging on things, never really the snow, but I can survive in. Fox shot onto the air and flew above the water he gave me a quick glance and then turned to face another Icewing. The Icewing didn't really seem weak, in fact he looked the exact opposite. He looked strong and powerful, ready to fight anything in his path.
"READY.... SET.... FIGHT!!!"
With that all the Dragonets changed at each other teeth to teeth and talons to talons. Fox dashed at the other Dragon, but he only moved to the side, clearly knowing what her was doing. The dragon grabbed Fox's tail between his teeth and threw him into open air. I could hear Fox snarl regaining his balance, the opponent gave him a devilish smirk.
"I'm tired of you coming first Inferno, you need to be taught a Lesson once and for all." Fox grabbed Inferno's wing and slammed it up into an awkward position.
Snap, the huge, sickening noise filled the quiet air, everyone stopped what they were doing and loomed at my brother. He didn't seem to notice as Inferno let out a howl of pain, he clenched his teeth as he tried so hard to stay in the air. I shot up onto my feet my eyes wide with fear as Fox grabbed Inferno's shoulders and threw him with strong force towards the waters below.
"FOX!!!!" I shouted running towards the combat area. Fox's head shot up and his eyes widening, it was to late- I saw it all. Inferno fell into the water with a huge splash, he not resurfacing.
"Hey Icewing- stop!!! Those are dangerous waters- STOP!!!" I didn't listen as I jumped into the air and dived into the sea. I saw the dragonet thrashing around storms of air bubbles shooting towards the surface. His eyes were in slits, showing he was almost out of air. I reached out my talon and grabbed his arm pumping my wings and tail against his weight. The color red swarming over my body, showing my frustration. The next thing knew I shot out into the air with ease, I pulled the dragon into the shore, he was coughing up salt water. I panted heavily as I saw where we ended up, it wasn't that far from the rest of the group, but it was still a quick run over to our destination.
One of the Icewings stopped when they saw me, with my changing colored scales, frills and webs, and gills. I still was panting heavily as the Icewing ran over to Inferno. Fox landed almost immediately as he saw me he grabbed my shoulder and pulling me closer to him.
"Get home now, don't you even try to innocence up to mother or father, now go home!" He hisses into my ear making my bones turn closer than they were. Now I definitely was in trouble now, and there was no way out of it. I said nothing as I shot into the sky, not even noticing the injured dragon looking at her.
