Chapter 55 - The Ravens

Liam Hastington

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't scared of myself after receiving the results of that test. My parents were called, and they were shocked, but after talking to the experts, they agreed to let them help me.

I was gathered with six other people in a room.

I wasn't alone, and they looked unbothered by the fact that we were all psychopaths. We introduced ourselves to each other and shared a little information about ourselves.

We were called one by one to a room where they explained the test results to us and how they would help us. Not that I don't want help; it's just I don't think I'm a psychopath.

"Did they tell you they will study us for two years?" Vincent asked, and I nodded.

"They will have their eyes on us forever." Luke hissed, and I sat on my chair, looking at the ceiling. Suddenly, the door busted open, revealing A, who just finished his counseling.

"Let's grab something to eat. We have two hours to spare before they test us again." A said, and we all went out to get burgers together. Everyone was busy eating except A.

"I just love that seven psychos hanging out like this. We can gather together and kill people together." Kaleb said, making A turn to him.

"Good idea," Luke said and took a big bite of his burger.

"Let's do it." A said. Out of all the people here, A was the most mysterious. He didn't say much, and we all knew that he had the highest score, which made him the most lunatic.

"I was joking," Kaleb said.

"I'm not. Let's build a fucking empire and rule the world." A said and gave his burger to Luke.

"Are you sure? They said we have tendencies to kill people." Blake looked at him while sipping his coke.

"We're going to do both." A said, and I choked on my burger, completely shocked. I'm going to pre-med for the sake of my parents.

"How?"

"You're going to be a doctor." A pointed me. "You're going to be a civil engineer." He pointed at Luke. "You will take software engineering and computer science." He looked straight at Dean. "Kaleb, take mechanical engineering." A turned to Kaleb, who sat beside him. "Vincent will study medicine." Then he turned to Blake, "You'll do business and learn about tradings."

"What will you do?" Luke asked him.

"I'm going to take business and nuclear engineering." The seven of us looked at each other.

"If you don't want to join, feel free to walk away." A said.

"We're still sixteen." Kaleb reminded him.

"Fifteen here." Blake raised his hand.

"We're going to skip a year and enter college early. If you don't have the money, I can give it to you. As long as you're in, I will handle everything. If you decide to walk away after you sign the fucking contract, I'm going to kill you." I gulped nervously, and A turned to me.

"Are you in or not?" He asked me while looking straight into my eyes.

"I have to think about it."

"No. Decide now..."

"I'm in..." Kaleb, Blake, and Vincent immediately agreed. Luke and Dean looked hesitant, and Blake kicked my leg.

"Giving the three of you two minutes to think."

"What if we get caught?" I asked.

"We won't get caught." A said confidently.

"We will mix business with blood, and the police are not dumb. They will—"

"I'm in." Luke cut me.

"Let's do this." Dean agreed, too, and everyone turned their heads to me, waiting for my answer.

"Tell me your goals, A," I said, and he laughed sarcastically.

"Be a billionaire and kill at least a thousand people before I turn twenty-five." He made me speechless, "You're a psychopath too, Liam. Believe it or not, the treatment they promise to give us will do nothing. So might as well we team up to achieve something others can't."

"Fine. I'm in."

Ever since then, we went on with our studies and skipped a grade to graduate early. I got into pre-med, and the rest of the group got into all the majors that they wanted. Kaleb, Vincent, and A took a double degree.

We started our business in college, and the first was imported things from China. We worked together pretty well even though sometimes there were bloodbaths between us. Kaleb and Vincent fought a lot, and so was Blake with Luke.

What do you expect from seven psychopaths?

As for the people who studied us, they told us that they would keep their eyes on us forever. They knew we would rule the world with our evil brains, so they formed a team to check on us monthly.

By twenty-five, we all became billionaires. Once we got the title, we decided to go rogue. We decided to keep our business private so we can operate bigger underground. The police worked for us now, and some politicians joined the team, too.

The Ravens made twenty companies in total. We have pharmacies, aesthetic clinics, automotive factories, weapon factories, research teams for medicine and diseases, tech companies, import and export, shipping companies, cosmetics, etc.

We take turns operating the company and have many people work for us, too. Kaleb, Vincent, and Blake mainly worked for the company because they didn't have other jobs like me. We all have our own sets of responsibilities.

"Nice to see you again, Hastington." I walked into the headquarters gym and found A currently working out.

"When did you come back?"

"Yesterday." I took my hoodie off and put my compression shirt on.

"When will you leave again?" I asked, and he chuckled.

"No more leaving."

"Good to hear." I grabbed some dumbells to do rows.

"How's Alyssa? I'm surprised that you want her back. I thought you didn't have any emotions." He chuckled.

"Well... I thought I didn't have one, too." Suddenly, two more people joined us, Kaleb and Dean.

"Let's have a drink tonight," Dean said as he took his shirt off.

"Take Vincent and Kaleb for that." A said, and Kaleb shook his head.

"Not in the mood."

"Why not?!" Dean protested.

"I have to go to Miami tonight."

"You can go to Miami drunk, jackass."

"You don't have work in Miami." A looked at Kaleb through the reflection.

"I'm going there to relax."

"Ariana is there," Dean said bluntly, causing Kaleb to grab him by the collar.

"I have two knives near the fridge." A said as he grabbed his phone and water bottle. He turned to me, "Don't forget to tell me who wins."
