Chapter 54 - The Test

Alyssa Takada

I walked around my apartment anxiously because Liam was supposed to pick me up an hour ago. I tried to call him and called Rocky, but none of them picked up. I was biting my nails, worried. I asked Lou, but she was in the headquarters, not knowing their whereabouts.

I kept calling Liam and Rocky again and again.

Instead of doing nothing, I went to the hospital because Liam was supposed to be there. He had two surgeries in the afternoon, so I hope to get some answers.

As soon as I got into the hospital, I found Marie. She's finished her shift, and her eyes widened when she saw me.

"Alyssa! Oh my god..." She squealed, and I smiled as I walked towards her. "How are you?" She asked as I gave her a big hug.

"I'm good. How about you?"

"I'm great. I just finished my shift. Are you looking for Liam?" I nodded.

"Is he inside?"

"Yes. There was an accident, and he had to operate at least ten people. The whole medical team had to help. Rocky was in that accident, too, it was a shit show." I gasped.

"Where are they now?"

"Upstairs, but I'm afraid you must stay in the lobby."

"Okay. Thank you so much, Marie. Please go home safely." I smiled, and she nodded.

"Goodnight." She said and made her way out.

I decided to sit in the waiting section in the lobby. I kept waiting and waiting. My phone rang, and it was Liam.

"Hello."

"I'm so sorry. There's an emergency, and I had to take care of it. I'm so sorry, Aeri. I'm going back to the apartment now." He sounded shocked.

"Where are you?"

"In my office, but I'm heading out right now. Have you eaten?" He asked as I made my way towards his office.

"I haven't. Let's go eat..." Then I saw him rushing out of the office and tried to lock his door. I chuckled, and he turned to me. His eyes widened, and he ran towards me.

"Is everything okay?" He asked as he looked up and down, wondering if I was hurt.

"I'm fine. I was worried about you." He let out a long sigh, "How's Rocky?"

"How did you know?"

"I bumped into Marie when I came here, and she told me that Rocky was here. What happened?" I asked, and he grabbed my hand, leading me to the parking lot.

"I'll explain it to you in the car."

Once we got into the car, Liam showed me footage of a warehouse. They're shipping things when suddenly there's a big explosion. I gasped, and Liam let out a sigh.

"It's our newest tech warehouse, and our competitors decided to mess with us without knowing who owned the fucking company." He's pissed.

"About twenty-five people got injured and two deaths. I had to help operate a lot of them and had to deal with the police, too. Our company tracked those people down and made sure to get our revenge."

"How's Rocky doing now?"

"He's good, and he needs time to recover."

"Okay. That's good news!"

"I'm sorry that you had to wait. I didn't have time to—"

"It's okay." I smiled, and he nodded.

"Let's grab something to eat, and I bet you're hungry."

Liam Hastington

"Here you go..." She sliced the steak and switched it with mine. "Eat up!" She pushed the onion rings and the tacos to me.

"Thank you," I said, and I took a bite.

"You know, one of the things that I love about you is that you always want to help people to the extent you burn yourself. Even though you don't show them your emotions often, I can see clearly that you always care."

"After I got adopted, my parents brought me to their hospital a lot. I was used to the environment and saw satisfaction every time they helped people. Especially when their patients thanked them for saving their lives."

"You're a great doctor, Liam. I always knew you would do great things." She put a piece of popcorn chicken before me, and I ate it.

"I'm always curious about how you meet your friends?" She asked as she grabbed her cup of water.

"I was in high school when I met them. At that time, there was a study about psychopaths and sociopaths. Every student took a test, and seven of us got called immediately after the results came out." Alyssa looked a little terrified.

"What's the result?"

"Out of thousands of people, the seven of us have the highest points for the psychopaths test. We're only sixteen and seventeen then, so they're shocked to see the results. They expected to find those results in older people. Not only that, but they found out that our IQ was high, and some of us still have emotions, which is very rare for psychopaths. So they wanted the seven of us to take further tests because they're so fascinated." I chuckled, remembering those days.

"And then..."

"Three out of seven have more emotions than the other four. The other four were alarming, and they had to interview with them for months to go further with the test. They studied us for two years, and the results made them form a team to watch on us."

"Did you belong to the three out of seven?" She asked carefully, and I nodded.

"I was in the first category with Blake and Luke. I was the most normal out of them." Alyssa was speechless because she looked at me in complete shock.

"They rank us, and shockingly... even though Luke was one of the normal ones, he got sixth place. I still don't know why he got that rank."

"No way! So what's the rank based on?"

"The rank was based on how psychopathic we are and how many emotions we have. One being the better ones and seven being the worse ones. A complex data based the rank so it's an overall rank."

"You're the first, right?"

"Yeah. They were very relieved that I was going to be a doctor." I took another bite.

"Can you tell me the rank? From one to seven..."

"Me, Blake, Dean, Kaleb, Vincent, Luke, and A," I answered honestly.

"So, with those people, you decide to build a company together? Are the people from that study still watching on you?"

"A was the one who gave us that idea, and after that test, we gathered together, forming a team that turned out to be pretty solid." I was also fascinated that we stayed this long, "The seven of us grew to take different majors. So we gathered again after we finished college. And yes, they still have their eyes on us."

"But you still do illegal things..." She narrowed her eyes, and I nodded.

"We had to. I got involved with the mafia pretty young, so I understood how the underground world works. The world we live in is not colorful, Aeri. To build an empire, we had to learn how to have a good foundation. Yes, we kill people, and we torture them, but all of them are bad people. It's also an excuse for us to kill. It's in our blood."
