(Y/N)'s POV

I can't believe it! I let myself get distracted and now people could be paying for my mistake! If I had just done my job then this might not be happening. What confused me was Raven's actions. I mean she has always been kinda protective but that really didn't compete with how she was back in the woods. Also what was with her asking me about Summer? Whatever the case I can't focus on that now. The portal spat us out at the village entrance. Looking around nothing seemed too out of place. I turned to Raven.

"Let's head to the city hall." Raven nodded in agreement but she looked a little off. She was sweating a bit and she kept blinking like she was having trouble staying focused. "What's wrong?" She flinched a little at my words as if I just scared her.

"Nothing." was all I got in return. When she spoke though she wouldn't meet my eyes and when she tried to move she was slower than when we were running earlier.

"You pushed yourself with your semblance again didn't you?" Instead of responding she stumbled a little bit. Before she could fall I grabbed her and pulled her up so she could lean on me. She must have really pushed herself a lot because her face was getting red. Once she was steady I let go and said to her. "Alright we need to move but don't hesitate to ask for a break." She started moving and spoke quickly.

"Fine." After that, we made our way to the city hall in the center of the town. Every now and again I would have to slow my pace down so Raven could catch up and every time she would get mad at me like I just had insulted her. After a while, we made it to the center of town. Tai and Summer were outside of the building, but Qrow was noticeably absent. Summer looked like she was about to throw up and Tai was trying his best to help her in between his cheap attempts at charming her. Summer noticed us first and quickly enveloped us into a hug.

"Oh thank Oum you two are alright!" Her voice was full of relief but quickly turned to that of anger. Summer let us go and "hit" us both on the arms. It didn't really hurt because most would really call what she did an aggressive pat at best. "Where the heck were you two?" Pointing her finger at Raven she followed up with "You were supposed to stay in the city. Why weren't you here?" Summer then moved her finger in front of my face. "Why did it take you so long to get here and why did you to show up together at the same time?" Before either of us could open our mouths Tai spoke up.

"I'll tell you what they were doing. These two were out in the woods or someplace making out instead of doing their jobs!" He walked up to us and looked me straight in the eyes. Before I can respond Raven speaks up.

"I heard the explosion and went to grab (Y/N) since he was the farthest away." Did she just lie to them? I understand her being upset at Tai for saying that, but why lie entirely? Either way, Tai didn't seem too thrilled with Raven's response. Summer gets in between all of us before anyone could continue.

"Is that true?"

"Sure." Great now I lied. "What was with the explosion?" That seemed to get the two off the subject.

"Oh um, the Grimm were able to get by the hunters out there and attacked the walls. Now in the northeastern area of the village, there are Grimm just pouring into the city."

"Wait, the Grimm caused the explosion? How?" Raven, who was sending Tai a glare up until now, looked just as confused as I was.

"We don't know how, but the Grimm did," Tai spoke for Summer. He still did not seem too happy with us and he kept giving me a weird look. Just then Qrow dropped from the sky.

"Great, the gang is all here. Now, what do we do?" After his comment, we all looked at Summer, which probably wasn't the best idea because she looked like she was trying to hide in her hood from all the attention.

"Oh, th-the leader said that w-we can fight the Grimm in the city, but only those in the c-city." Summer started to back away from us as she said that. I cleared my throat to get everyone's attention.

"Okay, let's head over there and start killing some Grimm." Summer perked up real fast.

"Raven and I will go together and you three will make your own group." Summer grabbed Raven before she could say anything and ran off into the distance. We just stood awkwardly for a little bit before Qrow spoke.

"Welp, you two heard her. Get your thumbs out your asses and let's move."

Raven's POV

As Summer pulled me along, I couldn't help but be angry with her. First she fails to do her job as a leader and now she pulls me away from (Y/N)! What is with her?! We must be close because she is slowing down, giving me a chance to pry my arm free. For such a small girl she has a grip of a King Taijitu. Once there we see the damage the Grimm have done. Houses are torn apart and crushed by the larger Grimm while smaller ones tear apart people left and right. Corpses of the people lie scattered about some with their limbs missing or their organs stewed about. Summer gasped in shock before turning away in horror. Another thing she fails as a huntress. Why must she get all the attention? First she is made into our leader, then she tries to take (Y/N), and now this pathetic show of emotion!? I'm pulled away from my thoughts at the sound of a child's scream as he is being chased by an Ursa. I grab my blade and ready myself.

Before I can do anything, I feel a rush of wind go by me. Now Summer is standing in between the child and the Grimm with her weapon lodged between the creature's eyes. Before it can do anything else Summer pulls the blade out of its head and slashes across its face blinding the monster. I lunge in and slice the thing in half across the abdomen while Summer uses the opportunity to grab the child and run. Once the three of us are a safe distance away she puts the youth down on the ground. Summer hugs the boy, trying to calm the child.

"Go take care of the Grimm while I take care of the child." Summer's voice is different than before. It's like she is commanding instead of asking like usual. Took a town getting invaded by Grimm for her to finally act like a leader. I make my way back to the breach killing each Grimm that I come across. Another Ursa comes at me from the right and tries to swipe me with its claw. I deflect it with my odachi and horizontally slash the bear monster, knocking it back as it dissolves into nothing. Two more Grimm, this time two Beowolves, charge at me from the front. Rushing forward to get between them, I spin once they are one both at my sides, effectively cutting them in half. A Creep then jumps at my head. I put my sword in between us and it bites down on the blade. Before I can do anything else, a Beowolf slashes my back, sending me forward. Once I land I turn to face the beast, but another Creep jumps out at me, this time biting my left leg. Before I can scream, the Beowulf headbutts me, sending me and the two Creeps into an already destroyed house. Once inside, I land on the corpse of what I presume to be the previous owner sans the top of their head. I can hear the growls of the Beowolf from outside as the two Creeps jump off of me and begin to circle around me. Quickly I grab the corpse of the previous owner of this wreckage of a house and throw the body at the farthest Creep. It takes the bait like the mindless beast that it is and I am able to easily dispatch of the nearest Creep with one swift stab. Quickly I slash across the other one while it is still busy with the body. Once the two Creeps are dissolving I turn my attention to the Beowolf outside. It is strange that I don't hear it's snarls and growls. Jumping out of the destroyed building I am not greeted by the attack of a Beowolf. Instead, I am met with Summer standing over the dissolving corpse of several Grimm. After seeing me she runs over to me.

"Raven are you alright?" Through gritted teeth, I respond.

"I'm fine." I try to move towards more Grimm but stumble from the wound the Creep gave me. Summer tries to support me.

"Your leg. We should get you-" I shove her off of me before she can finish.

"I said I'm fine!"

"What is with you!? Why do you hate me so much?! All I have ever tried to do is help you but all I get in response is malice."

"How dare you!? You think you've helped me?!" Our yelling started to attract some Grimm to us. We ready our weapons, I my odachi and Summer her chain scythe. Summer throws her weapon causing it to wrap around the Ursa Major and pulls it around for me to slice it in half. "I don't know what possessed Ozpin to make you a leader, you barely even do it right!"

"What?!" Summer slashes a Creep while I coat the blade of my weapon in fire dust. "That's why you hate me so much!? You're jealous that I'm the leader!?" I cut a Beowolf in half as it tries to slash me.

"I'm not jealous of that! I just wish you would act the role. Just because something you do fails to impress others doesn't mean you should just hide away in that damned hood of yours! And you shouldn't need (Y/N) to cheer you back up." I sidestep another Beowolf's attempt of attacking me. Summer grabs the chain and swings the scythe digging the blade into a Grimm and then flings it around. Summer seems to think for a moment before saying.

"Wait so if you are not jealous of that then what are you jealous of?" Just then a Death Stalker lets out a roar before charging us. I make a portal to my side, grab Summer, and bolt for the portal. Just as the Death Stalker's stinger about to come down on us we escape with the portal spitting us out on a nearby roof. I survey our new surroundings.

"It looks like we are a couple of yards away from where we were. We should try to find the others and regroup." Before I can move though I feel a hand grab my arm. Looking back I see Summer on the verge of tears.

"Look I get it okay. I don't know why Ozpin picked me either. I'm horrible with people, I don't know thing one about being a leader, and I can barely hold my own in sparring matches." She lets out a weak laugh before continuing. "Heck I don't even know my semblance yet, but I'm trying Raven. I really am. I am also trying to be your friend, I really am. Please, Raven, just tell me what I'm doing wrong and I will try to fix it! Please?" For a minute there I just look at her before letting out a sigh.

"Look I'm not jealous of you being the leader okay. Hell, when you actually try to fight you can beat almost any Grimm out there. You also don't give yourself enough credit like what you did for that kid back there. I just wish you would act like an actual leader most of the time okay?" After hearing my words she perks up a little while nodding her head. "Wipe away your tears, we have some work to do." I move to the edge of the roof but before I can jump off Summer grabs my arm again. I can't help but roll my eyes at this. "What now Summer?"

"Um so if you aren't jealous of me being the leader, what are you jealous about?" My face heats up at her words.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about..."

"You said that you are not jealous of that but you didn't say you weren't jealous at all. So what are you jealous of?"

"L-look now's not the time for this." Trying to hide my blush I look away from her.

"Please, Raven, tell me. I can help if you just tell me what it is."

"It's nothing."

"Do you want the top bunk in the dorms, because I can switch if you want?" That made me scoff.

"Don't think so lowly of me to hold a grudge like that."

"Well is it because I've been hanging out with Qrow so much because I can stop hogging him so much. I get that he's your brother and all."

"I have lived with him for most of my life so I couldn't care less about that."

"Oh um is it because Tai has-"

"Oum no!"

"Then what is it!?"

"(Y/N)! I hate how much time you two spend together."

"What!? Why?!"

"Because I love him!"

Welp another part done. This took a bit longer than I thought it would but hey it's done. I wanted to try something different with the switching first person perspective thing that a lot of other authors for these types of stories tend to do. So tell me how I did with it if it isn't a bother. Other than that have a nice day/evening depending on when/where you are reading this.
