Royals over anything
"What should I do?" I was usually the one advising people on what to do in a heavily distorted situation but I was too venerable to listen to my own advice.
"I think you need to talk to your aunt and Shane and clear the air between you 3." He tugged on my waist pulling me back into him; I buried the side of my face on his hard chest while he rested his chin on top of my head.
"Can we go a bit later?" I asked not wanting to move from the comfortable position. Instead of replying to me, he tightened his arms around me almost as if he never wanted to let me go and I wanted it to be like that. I wanted to care about some who I wouldn't get scared of losing because I'd have the reassurance that they won't leave me for anything.
Caleb effortlessly broke down the walls that I had build to keep my heart safe but to my dismay, this boy might just steal it way from me. But that's exactly what happened with Aden, he stole it away and I couldn't let that happen this time, I couldn't let him take what was mine.
Either I give it to him or not give him my heart at all. After a while we both drifted into a comfortable silence where the only thing I was able to hear was his steady heart beat and at that moment that's all that mattered.
After what seemed like hours I decided to get off him and let him drive me back home so I could clear everything out with my family. The whole ride Caleb was giving me advice on keeping calm and it definitely helped because I'm not the most patient person and I hated waiting and twisted situations but having him next to me was extremely helpful. It kept the storm in my head at bay which I was grateful for.
"Caleb... are you gonna go home now?" I asked as he parked his car in our driveway.
"Not if you want me to..." He smiled brining the car into a halt. I saw Aunty P's car and Shane's parked side by side together and instantly knew, Aunty P came back from work early and they must have been freaking out not knowing what I would do. Dealing with a bipolar teenage girl isn't the easiest job to do in the world but I must give them credit for putting up with me all these months.
"I dunno... I just don't wanna be alone." I mentally slapped myself for sounding this venerable.
"How about you go in, talk to them and leave the window open for tonight." A cheeky grin spread across his lips.
"Will do." I smiled untangling my hand from his making him groan. Unbuckling my seatbelt I opened the passenger door but before getting out I turned around quickly leaning further in towards Caleb -who was already meeting me half way- gently placed my lips on his cheek.
"Text me okay?" He asked with concern.
"I will." I smiled and slowly walked up towards the porch. I couldn't help but keep the smile that was painted on my lips for a while.
He was genuinely a caring person who I truly trusted by now. I turned around to wave him goodbye before gently twisting the silver knob of the front door. At first I didn't know what to expect or how to react when I saw them.
An unknown feeling was starting to ignite from the bottom of my stomach however my heart felt calm knowing no matter happened I would see Caleb tonight again and that's the only thing kept me sane.
"Honey we were so worried .... Where were you?!" Aunty P burst out the kitchen's hall way with a worried expression.
"I was with Caleb." My voice was cold as stone which definitely startled her.
"I'm so sorry honey... we were going to tell you but when we found you, you were so broken because of..." She stated as she slowly made her way over towards me. "I'm so sorry honey."
Instead of replying to her I walked forward wrapping my arms around her shoulders engulfing her in an embrace which she immediately returned. She was the same height as me without the heels which made it easier for me to hug her.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know what I was thinking... I should have let Shane explain but my mind was..."
"It's okay honey, no need to explain... I understand." She cooed in my ear. Just then I realised no matter what happens she was always going to be a mother figure to me.
She's always been there for me when I needed someone, she's always protected me and scooped me out of hell because I was her family. I should have been grateful to her and at least given her the benefit of the doubt.
I slowly peeled myself off her and made my way towards the kitchen only to see Shane awkwardly standing in the middle of it sticking out like sore thumb.
"Let me explain." Shane started but Aunty P quickly waved him off letting him know she was about to do the honours. I slid myself on to a stool waiting for Aunty P to start explaining as she walked over towards him slipping into the seat right opposite me.
"I'm so sorry you had to ... I'm sorry I don't know how to do this." She looked like she was about to cry and it broke my heart because she was my role model because she was a strong minded, independent women who hardly shed her tears but I could clearly see this was physically killing her.
"I'm not going anywhere mom, don't worry." I folded my arms on the counter as she visibly relaxed before continuing.
"Honey that man... His..." She sighed while she tried to find the right words before continuing.
"Basically we share the same father but different mothers and they are both sisters." Shane blurted out subconsciously. I couldn't help but form a small smile on my lips because of his bluntness.
However Aunty P did not find it funny and whacked him across the back of his head. Yes, this is my family, not my biological father or mother. Soon, aunty P composed herself before explaining the whole story.
"When I was young around your age I thought I was in love with... Zachariah and just before graduation I found out I was pregnant and we were both extremely happy however we both know happiness doesn't last very long does it?" She let out a bitter laugh.
"My sister, your mother... I loved her very much although she resented me but I always knew it was my duty to protect her and keep her happy. Angela, always loved Zac but I didn't know about it because
"She always said she hated him... but after Shane was born, Zac started to act... secretive and after a couple of months I found out he ran off with my sister." I could see the hate in her eyes which scared me; I didn't want her hating me because of my mother.
"I..I.." I tried to apologise but my throat was imitating Sahara Desert.
"I didn't know they had a child and at first I resented everything BUT when I found out those filthy animals left you in the hospital I honestly wanted to kill both of them." She had her hands intertwined in each other on the counter.
"If they wanted a life on their own why did they have to have a baby and leave her there?" She looked angry and invisible smoke was coming out of her ears. I quickly glanced over to Shane who looked murderous and was trying to hold the raging bull inside.
"It wasn't your fault that you messed up their plan on what ever they were doing, how could they?" Her voice was dripping with anger. "I had to find my niece, it wasn't her fault but because you were under foster care, we physically couldn't find you especially when we didn't know where you were." Her features softened when she made eye contact with me and her eyes were filled with sorrow and guilt.
"I was unstable at first and it took me a while to get on my feet and every year that passed by was a year you kept getting further away from me but I made it my mission to find you because you didn't ask for the life you were living.
With Tim's help we hired a private detective to find you and it still took us couple of years before we finally got to you and when we did, you were in the hospital and it broke my heart Kira.
Seeing you in that situation and what you were going through I couldn't blurt out this to you when you came back from coma, we had to ease you in and we weren't totally against telling you anything after you heard about Aden and you couldn't handle it..."
Caleb was right, these weren't the people who would ever hurt me, they always loved me even before they knew me and accepted me as their own which I was more than grateful for. I simply got up and walked around the counter to wrap my arms around her and squeezed her tightly.
"I understand and I'm sorry for doubting you. It must have been really hard for you to talk about it as well, I'm sorry." I whispered and looked over her shoulder towards Shane who had huge grin on his face.
He wasn't JUST my cousin; he was my blood, actual brother. However I couldn't help but feel furious about the fact that one man ruined 4 lives, mine, Aunty P's, Shane's and my so called mother's.
"Oh honey thank you, thank you for understanding... I thought you'd hate us forever." She slowly let go off me.
"Come on, I could never hate you, I thought you would hate me... considering the fact my so called bitch of a mother took your man away from you." I rolled my eyes making both of them chuckle.
"Well soon after I realised what kind of a manipulating man he was, it was a lot easier to get over him." She stated.
"Why do we have his surname though?" I asked.
"Oh no, Royals is our surname, I was never married to him or anything and he didn't want me giving our child his surname and I guess the same happened with your mother." She explained.
"His sir name is Jeremiah Roderick, I mean come on... Royals is so much cooler." He grinned from ear to ear puffing his chest up to show how proud he was of that name.
"I'm hungry." I frowned.
After that everything blended in perfectly, we cooked dinner together- well in other words made Shane do all the dirty work – I also texted Caleb letting him know everything was fine and I would explain everything to him when he comes over later.
For some reason my heart felt a lot lighter after knowing my roots and I was surprised at the fact that I wasn't even angry at my 'parents' for throwing me away just like that.
Instead, I was glad that they did, although I had to go through hell but I sort of was glad that I did because I ended up here with my real family and it helped me become the person who I am today.
At dinner we told Aunty P about what happened in school and how we missed couple of important lessons and she reassured us that she will call in tomorrow letting them know it was a family emergency which was in fact the truth.
Shane also told me that he had to tell Lacey about our situation which didn't annoy me at all because I knew Shane would end up marrying this girl one day so I might as well start trusting her from now.
He also informed me about their current status; they weren't on the best of terms with each other but he told me that she's willing to give him a chance because it wasn't entirely his fault because he didn't know that she got pregnant.
When they were together, Saira was on pills and I don't exactly know what happened but somehow she got pregnant and it was definitely Shane's baby because she got our eye shape which was unique compared to the rest of the population of the little town we lived in.
Around about 11 p.m. Caleb texted me letting me know he was already in my room while I was downstairs with my family. I had to admit, that boy had amazing sneaky ninja skills considering the fact I didn't detect any movement upstairs.
Saying good night to them I made my way upstairs quickly, anticipation bubbled through my veins and the plastered smile that I had on my face never left once as I was bolting up the stairs.
I swiftly opened and closed the door behind me, locking it at the same time so that they wouldn't barge into, not like they ever did but I just didn't want to risk getting caught by them with Caleb.
At first my vision was completely blank and dark but after a couple of seconds my eyes adjusted to the shimmering moonlight that streaked through the half opened window.
The straight rays of silver light rested on Caleb's chiselled face and his toned tanned body that laid vertically straight on by bed.
His hands were behind his head on the pillow while his muscular arms created a triangle shape on either side of his head. His silky black has a mind of its own as they always sticks out in every direction.
"Checking me out now eh?" He smirked.
"Definitely..." I played along with a genuine smile lingering on my lips. He quickly sat up allowing his black t-shirt to fall down and cover his torso that on was display a moment ago.
"Everything okay?" He asked with concern as he rested his back on the headboard of my bed.
"Yup everything is just fine." I smiled climbing in next to him on my bed as he wrapped his arms around my waist dragging me dangerously close to his body. I immediately melted against his touch and was still fascinated by how my body perfectly fit into his.
