Heart to Heart
Kira's P.O.V.
"WHAT on earth are you doing here?" Shane hissed as he straightened himself up and away from the girl he had pinned against the back wall of the library.
"I'll delete the picture..." I didn't miss the hurt and sadness in Saira's voice when she took a step back and away from view, hiding herself behind the shelf.
"K, what on earth...?" Shane hissed from behind.
"You know I always do this with Devon and even you ..." I built up the courage to face him. "Oh my god, my brain is scared for life." I held my head up with both hands preventing it from rolling off my neck. I watched the blond girl hide behind him while her eyes played hide and seek with me.
"You need to go to your class." The frustration in his voice only made me laugh as his face turned red with embarrassment.
"You must be Lacey... I would shake your hand but..." I turned my head to face Saira while scratching the side of my neck. "I... dunno where... they've been." We both let out a small chuckle while Shane tensed up in frustration.
"Kira... Go. AWAY." He shooed me away.
"With pleasure... I mean not the one that you two are having... I mean like... I'll just..." I fanatically waved my hands about taking a couple of steps back one by one until Saira pulled me towards her discarding the horrific view.
After that horrific encounter, we separated our ways to head to class. I had Maths with Nathan which I was glad about. There were only a couple of people I liked to associate with, unlike in NY where I would talk to anyone and everyone just like I would do anything and everything.
I didn't tell him what happened but I told him that I met the girl that my brother's been drooling over for the last month. Lacey was tall with soft curly strawberry blond hair that rested below her shoulder blades, gorgeous grey eyes that radiated warmth and adoration, however, I did not miss how red her cheeks were after we ambushed them in action.
Her skin transformed into a pale ghost colour which made me laugh even more. I could also see how hurt Saira was and trying her hardest not to burst into tears, that's when I took the hint and gave her some space.
"BOO!" Caleb shouted.
I screamed.
"DUDE... I'm trying to eat..." At that moment I wanted to punch Caleb so badly. The day passed by pretty quickly and now I was in the canteen lavishing myself with the glory of a meaty delicious burger until Caleb decided to interrupt.
"I just haven't seen you all day, are you trying to avoid me?" He sat himself down beside me placing his tray on the table.
"No, I'm eating... something people like to do when they are hungry..." He chuckled at my remark.
"Let's go outside later..." He nudged my elbow which made me flinch and nearly drop my burger from my hands. Although he was being incredibly annoying, I still wanted answers from him.
"Sounds like a plan..." I mumbled while eyeing my food.
After the wolf in my tummy was satisfied I decided to walk out of the canteen, only to have Caleb follow close by.
"How do YOU know me?" I swiftly turned on one leg which startled Caleb as he nearly crashed into me. Oddly enough I wasn't scared about the fact that he knew me, instead, I was more worried about whether or not he knew why I disappeared.
"You remember freshmen year, Maths and English classes?" He dug his hands into his dark blue jeans front pockets.
"Yeah?" Some of the memories vaguely flashed before my eyes.
"You remember Tanya, Liam, and Orain right?" I couldn't help but smile at the good times we shared in those classes.
"Of course..." Although my memories were still a bit hazy I still remember those days like it was yesterday.
"And do you remember the little nerdy group at the front of the class you four always used to pick on?"
"Pleaaseee don't remind me how horrible I used to be?" It's true, just because my life was horrible I couldn't stand to see other people happy. "Look before you even go there, I've changed and everyone knew why I was so messed up so..." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Do you even remember their names?" He chuckled as he swayed back and forth.
"Remember? I didn't even know their names, all I knew was they got flippin' A's all the time and no matter how hard I worked they still beat me. So I decided to take my own revenge." I rolled my eyes while crossing my arms.
"I'm sorry..." He smiled and nudged me with his elbows.
"Its fine and I'm sorry for making your life hell, if I knew you'd turn out to be so hot, I wouldn't have." I smiled at him stepping back a little to look at him.
"I just wanna know if the rumours were true about why you left?" The smile on my face immediately disappeared as soon as those words left his lips.
"Why do you care?" My voice was deeper than the Pacific Ocean.
"I've always cared, Ray, you might not remember but I've always cared?" He took one step closer to me sending me chills down my spine. "Do you remember rejecting anyone for freshmen prom?"
"I rejected a lot of people," I smirked remembering the number of people I shooed away.
"Yeah, I guess I was one of them?" He looked down at his khaki boots.
"I'm sorry..." I blinked a couple of times before realizing what he was trying to confess.
"Don't worry but you broke a lot of people's hearts when you suddenly disappeared you know..." His hypnotizing eyes pleaded me to tell him the truth.
"I... Just... I..." I was speechless. "I'm sure people moved on right." I hoped.
"Some did but Aden couldn't... He's still waiting for you..." still waiting for you..."
