Games and boys
Kira's P.O.V.
"Is it just me or the other team is hotter?" Saira asked rhetorically fanning herself with her hand.
"You have a boyfriend." I reminded her. "Who knew that Brody Jackson would end up being the faithful one?" I scoffed bitterly.
"He's not perfect but we're both trying... so it's okay but don't beat yourself up for it. You deserve better."
That line. You deserve better.
I've heard it more than enough to know, not to believe in it because I didn't know anyone better than Caleb for me.
"You know I've never seen him with that girl... ever." Maya commented looking around the crowd for someone.
"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.
"I mean if they were together then why isn't he with her all the time like he was with you."
"We weren't ever together." I reminded her ignoring the pang of hurt that washed across my heart.
"But-" Her voice was over shadowed by the roars of the crowds as they cheered on their teams when they swiftly jogged on to the field.
I honestly don't remember the game however I do remember Caleb's two touch downs and each of the time he looked straight at me, only to have me look away right before hoping he didn't know I was shamelessly staring at him throughout the game.
Shane scored at least seven touch downs as scouts were in the crowd recruiting for colleges. He has also been acting suspicious lately. He seems like he can't meet my eyes, like he's hiding something or ashamed of something.
He talks to me a lot less but I don't blame him because I do lock myself in my room after I get home with headphones plugged in at loudest volume and a sketch pad on my lap.
We made our way down to the field to congratulate the boys for winning when the quarterback of the opposition team stepped in my way.
"If you were cheering us on, I bet we would have won." He smirked holding his helmet in his hand while everyone around us were chanting and cheering our team on while their team made their way off the pitch in a hurry.
"Yeah I didn't cheer anyone on." I told him curtly getting annoyed by the flirting.
"I noticed." He smiled. His light blond spikes stood in every direction and his baby blue eyes shone in the bright sunlight. He was everything that Caleb wasn't. I shook my head to get his memories off my mind. "Anyways are you coming to the after party?"
"Erm... I highly doubt that." I tried to shove past him when he softly grabbed a hold of my arm and stopped me from escaping.
"Please..." He insisted but I just couldn't look him in the eye, him even touching me made me feel like I was cheating on Caleb for some reason. Repulsed by his touch and myself, I yanked my arm free from his and carried on walking towards the direction of my friends.
That's when I noticed the red blood shot eyes staring at me with so much intensity it made me feel like I was about to burst. Caleb's shoulders were slumped and his posture looked defeated but I couldn't let that phase me.
He broke me after fixing me and I couldn't let him win. Quickly snatching my eyes away from him I plastered a fake smile on my face and walked towards Devon and Shane to congratulate them.
"DUDE, nice touch downs." I hugged Shane while he picked me up off the ground and spun me around a couple of times.
"I FEEL LIKE A KING."
"Yeah, you were awesome-"
"Shane can we talk." Caleb's cold voice cut through the loud noise around us. His whole body was shaking and anyone who tried to congratulate him, were shoved away from him in irritation. I only caught a glimpse of his profile view for a couple of second when Devon came from behind catching their attention.
"Yo, coach wants us to get cleaned up." Devon gave me small side hug and pushed Caleb and Shane towards the locker room however I knew it wasn't true because I didn't see anyone else heading towards the gym as they were all celebrating the victory with their friends.
I kept my gaze fixated at them when I noticed Shane and Caleb getting into a disagreement while they were walking away when Devon quickly put himself in between and carried on walking.
Caleb on the other hand forcefully threw his helmet on the floor in rage and ran a hand through his hair in frustration and anger.
I also wasn't surprised when I saw Brody and Nathan jog after them and on the way Brody picked up his brother's helmet and carried on following Nathan.
"What the hell in going on between them?" Maya asked from behind startling me slightly making me jump.
"I have no idea but can we go?" I asked not being able to take any more of their secrecy.

Devon: You going to the party later? x
Me: Nahh why?
Devon: Meet me at where I dragged you at 5 in the morning :D lol
Me: Why?
Devon: I need to talk to you
Me: Okay be there in 30 x
Devon: Cool
In all honesty I haven't had a place to go to since me and Caleb stopped talking. I remember going to the shore where me and Caleb met for the first time but I couldn't stay there as Caleb seemed to be the permanent occupant of that space.
I also forgot about the hill side that Devon drove us to that day, when he thought he would die in the hands of my brother because he thought he had slept with Lacey. I've been spending a lot more time with Maya though.
She really had so much patience with me and helped me through the 'break up' and there was no doubt that she's become an excellent psychiatrist in the future.
Spring vacation was coming soon and I was relieved to get a break from all the fake smiling and trying not to break down whenever I saw his face. I just honestly couldn't do it anymore. Pretending to be strong everyday was nearly as hard as pretending to be not in love with Caleb
After pulling up near the cliff, I walked up the slope to see Devon already sitting under a tree leaning against the thick trunk.
"Hey you." I smiled and sat down next to him. He looked fresh and cleaned and ready to party.
"You okay?" He asked scooting down slightly.
"Why does EVERYONE ask me that?" I screamed out loud in frustration making him chuckle.
"Cause you haven't been... YOU lately... you got your headphones in all the time... what do you expect us to think huh?" He did have a valid point.
"Ergh..." I scoffed. "So why call me here?" I asked.
"I need you to answer me honestly... because I'm not allowed to do this but I'm going to 'cause I can't see you trying your hardest not to break down in front of Caleb and I can't see him nearly be-heading everyone when he sees you." He explained, confusing the life out of me. I tried to ask what he was talking about but he beat me to it. "Just be honest alright?"
"Okay."
"How much do you like him?" He asked making my heart sink to the bottom of my stomach. "Honestly... because what I'm about to tell you depends on it."
"What if my answer doesn't match yours..." I asked curiously.
"Then I don't have to tell you but if it does... then I might be saving two people's sanity here... then maybe I'd be allowed in heaven."
That earned him an eye roll for being the typical Devon.
"A lot..." I told him after a moment of silence. "I can't help it... I still do... although he's probably in love with someone else..." I finished off the sentence with tears streaming down my eyes.
I turned my head towards Devon, who looked like he'd just seen a ghost. I realised it was because he has never seen me cry. I quickly wiped my tears away in anger and in aggravation.
"Shit... why didn't you tell anyone... we thought you didn't care..." He sympathised putting his arm around me.
"Well what was I supposed to do? I already made a fool of myself in front of him by confronting him; I wasn't going to show him I was weak. Also he has a lot going on." I explained.
"Well, lucky your answer matches mine because this might just mend everything... Just don't push me off the cliff after I tell you this and in my defence I didn't have a say in this."
