Don't drink mouthwash

Kira's P.O.V

"Do you have 11 protons?... Cause you're sodium fine..." Devon soundlessly burst out into a laughter bobbling his head back and forth while banging the table with his fist. In my eyes, he looked like he was having a fit to be honest.

Two amazing weeks been passed after I found out about my family trail and frankly, life's been surprisingly calm and stable for me, however school works for Devon, Caleb and I, rapidly increased after we missed those important lessons two weeks ago. All because of the whole family fiasco. But, I wasn't complaining at all until I was told to attend extra Chemistry and Maths classes after school and during lunch time.

On top of that I was personally getting tutored by a very unhygienic senior. Instead of teaching me chemistry he would stutter and fumble with his books and his over grown rusty hairs which definitely pissed me off because I ended up with books with dandruff in it.

So instead of torturing myself for an hour everyday I forced Aunty P to talk to the head teacher so I could change tutors but luckily, I ended up on the waiting list instead of immediately being transferred to another student for extra lesson.

To my dismay, I was stuck with Devon for both of the lessons however I was more than happy when we came back because I did miss his unusual comical remarks and how he would effortlessly make me laugh with only his skilful expressions.

Caleb on the other hand was forced to attend only extra physics classes because apparently he caught up with all his work he missed during the time he was ditching school with me. As much as I hate to admit it.

I was dangerously getting attached to that boy and no matter how much I tried to drag myself away from him; I ended up needing him the more. There was something about him that hypnotised me, at times, when he smiled and joked around with us, he looked like an open book that anyone could read.

A guy who's genuinely soft centred with a calm and collective exterior but sometimes when I would catch him on his own walking or pretending to be engaged in a conversation.

He'd emit an unknown vibe that screamed danger and sometimes it would feel like I didn't know him at all; it pained me to think that I didn't know him because I definitely wanted to know him better than anyone else.

I knew from the very beginning he was definitely hiding something from everyone but I never forced myself on to him because I knew how much I'd hate it if someone did that to me, so I'd rather not do the same thing to somebody else.

Despite his mystery aura, we've become extremely close; we held each other's hand whenever we were alone and sometimes steal a little peck on the cheek here and there but nothing too serious.

It was almost like we had a silent understanding between us about keeping whatever-ship we had going on under the radar. I definitely loved the whole, him sneaking into my bedroom at night and climbing out in the morning just to knock on our front door "pretending" to be early.

However we didn't get to share a lot of alone time together considering the fact we were always surrounded by our friends and I had extra school work to do when I got home.

He basically made it his daily routine to sneak into my bedroom. I also have some of his sleeping and normal clothes just in case of an emergency.

I specially loved the sly winks he would throw my ways across the room when no one else were paying attention or sometimes in lesson I would turn to sneak a glance of him but ended up realising he was shamelessly gawking at me.

That simple gesture brought back dormant feelings in my heart, his breathtaking smile made my heart do non stop cartwheels and sent all sorts tingly feelings all around my body.

Currently Devon and I were missing our precious lunch time to catch up on Chemistry work and it became our little routine to surround ourselves by nice nerds who actually didn't faint before replying to Devon or thought I was a total bitch.

It actually felt nice to be surrounded by people who you didn't have to impress to get along with.

They were actually really welcoming and free but I hardly saw these people around the school because they said they preferred staying in a classroom or somewhere else, 'cause they didn't want to be a victim of an "accident" in the canteen.

Which was totally understandable but on the other hand, Devon was getting out of control with his Chemistry chat up lines that he used on the girls. Which sometimes annoyed me because he shouldn't have been flirting with other girls while he's trying to get Maya but he kept it all innocent so it didn't bother me after a day or two.

"Organic compounds usually contain at least one Carbon atom and Alcohol has a –OH functional group and the general formula is Cn H2n+1OH..." Erika explained while Devon and I both nodded as she scribbled down this information on the board for us to copy.

"So if you had 2 carbon atoms what would the formula be... just replace the n with the number of the carbon." She stated biting into her sandwich while I quickly tired to work it out.

"C2 H 5 OH... so that's ethanol?" I asked looking at my book.

"Yeah exactly and state some of the uses of ethanol." She smiled knowing I understood what she was talking about.

"Erm... they are used in alcoholic drinks, perfumes and aftershave as spirits and uhh mouth wash too." I added excitedly. The last portion of my answer attracted Devon's attention making him sit up straight with a cheeky grin on his face ready to ask Erika a question.

"So if you drink mouth wash would you get drunk?"

I slapped my forehead with my palm shaking my head at his stupidity.

"NO, you only add a little amount you dimwit." I replied because Erika was having hard time breathing while she was slouched forward emptying out her laughter.

"I didn't know that..." He raised his arms in a surrender motion. "BUT Kira... let's meet somewhere..." He paused with an overdramatic hand reaching out for me. "You can bring your beaker and I can bring my stirring rod."

That did it, I picked up my book and bashed it against his head making him wince in pain while the people discreetly scattered in the room burst out laughing.

"I missed you." Caleb cooed in my ear as he rested his extended arm across the back of my chair while his other hand rested on his lap with my hand interlaced in them.

"Well I missed you too Jock." I crossed me legs over each other leaning slightly to his side with my eyes fixated towards the blackboard where our art teacher were scribbling down our homework for the weekend.

"I'm not a jock yet but I'm definitely going to the trials next week." He shuffled over towards me in his chair as he mumbled those words under his breath in the most seductive voice.

"That's why I called you a jock." I murmured as I released my hand and rested it on his thigh making him stiffen visibly.

"Yeah... well my jersey will look good on you...actually... I'd look better on you." He smirked making me sigh out loud, retrieving my hand away from his lap and moving back to my normal position in my seat. "Wait what did I do?" He questioned, genuinely looking nervous.

"It's not you, its stupid Devon... I'm just sick of 'chat up' lines." I complained making Caleb chuckle as his body relaxed.

"Oh yeah... he's been trying them on guys too." He added leaning forward towards the table grabbing his diary to write down the art homework that was scribbled across the board.

"He's cool but there's a limit..." I grabbed my own diary to do the same.

"In gym he was like... My name is Bond... Ionic Bond..." His gaze was alternating between the board and his diary while he was swiftly copied the words. "I mean come on... he's going a bit over board with this Chemistry thing."

"It would be different if he was actually learning but he isn't... like today he was talking about drinking mouth wash to get drunk..." I shivered as I recalled the memory.

"Oh lord... that boy needs help." He chuckled closing his diary and getting a hold of his art book to start on the task that was set for us to finish in lesson.

After art class we quickly headed towards his car so we didn't have to get caught up by others and unwillingly separate ourselves according to the guys and the girls group.

I was looking forward to spend sometime with him over the weekend like we planned before but recent proposal from Lacey definitely made me regret making plans with him in advanced because I didn't want it to look like I was ditching him and I was definitely scared to let him down.

"Caleb... I kinda need to tell you something."
