Bitches and S.O.S.

Kira's P.O.V.

I knew that her accident two days ago wasn't my fault and I overreacted. She only had minor cuts and bruises. She would freak out if she found out what I tried to do that night and lock me up in the house with her and never leave my side.

Shane lectured me about how selfish it was for me to do that, if he was a cartoon, smoke would have definitely been emerging out of his ears, he scolded me about how I keep blaming other people for leaving me whereas I was about to do the same thing to Shane and Aunty P.

I honestly didn't know the meaning of love before I met Aden. But, due to certain circumstances, we weren't the most stable teenagers there. We messed up a lot but at least we had each other until he decided to leave me.

Shane and Aunty P., however, showed a different type of love that I never knew existed due to the lack of stability I found in my foster homes. I always had to move around and I never got a chance to truly get to know any of them. Being with them has taught me that it's okay to depend on someone else and to not just keep to yourself. It's okay to trust someone else and not have to worry about the consequences.

"Mom's home, she just texted me..." Shane took one of my headphones out so I could hear what he was saying.

"I know, I received the same text..." I scowled at him for disrupting my music zone.

I loved listening to music on long journeys, it's a way I calmed myself down. The scenery on the way home from school never gets old for me.

The school isn't too far away from our house, however, covering the swirling roads along the mountains took time, especially with our house being high up the mountains and the speed limit incredibly low.

The height provided us with a better view of the skyline across the horizon filled with alternating mountains and different ranges of pine trees. In the middle is where our little suburban community was located. The houses looked like large bungalows with mini pine trees surrounding them.

"You know you do that every time I drive you to school and back home." Shane stated trying to sound annoyed.

"I just had a rough day." I already told Shane about what happened with Caleb at lunch.

"You can't let that get to you, the boy doesn't know anything K... from a guys' point of view, I just think he's threatened by Aden." Shane and Aunty P knew everything about my past, somehow, they managed to earn my trust.

"I know but..." I was quickly cut off by Shane.

"From what I can see, he liked you before and he probably didn't know you were here and now that he got given a second chance, he wants to take it." Times like these you could definitely see the resemblance between him and Aunty P.

"I just don't want anything to do with any other guy." I turned away from him and looked out the window. The horizon was quickly being replaced by the tall mountains as we started to reach the low grounds.

"I know you're still angry with him K but, he thought you'd never come back. I only met him twice and trust me when I say this; he was lost and broken without you. He didn't say much but I could tell it killed him inside to see you in that position." Shane wasn't trying to defend Aden, he just wanted me to accept the fact and forgive him.

"He could have waited." I brought my weak knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them. My voice appeared cold and sharp.

"Everyone has their breaking point..."

"I don't care, he was selfish and you even said the same thing to me... I just can't forgive that." I rested my forehead on my knees I heard Shane sigh in defeat.

After hitting the low grounds, the journey home quickly ended which, for the first time I was excited about because I haven't seen Aunty P after the accident.

"MOM." After opening the door Shane and I both shouted on top of our lungs.

"IN THE KITCHEN." Her honey glazed echoed from the other side of the house.

"Women and kitchens" Shane chuckled.

"MOM, Shane said..." An oversized hand covers my whole face while the other arm snaked around my waist lifting me off the ground.

"Last time I made the joke I didn't get food for a week so shut your little monkey face." Shane half whispered half shouted in my ear before he let go.

We threw our bags on the sofa and hurried towards the kitchen. A tanned woman in her mid-30s stood behind the middle counter preparing for dinner. She could easily pass for my real mom, although I've never seen my real mother before and I never want to but, I can see they must have looked very similar.

Her dark wavy hair cascaded down in a V shape down to her lower back. Her squared face and hooded eyelids reassembled mine while her smile and her height shadowed Shanes'. After greeting her I soon realized her cuts and bruises were merely visible as she glided through the kitchen elegantly preparing for dinner. I wish I could cook without summoning a tornado.

"Oh, there's a welcome back party at Vera's on Friday, we're both going." Our dinner conversations were usually about school's gossip.

"You need to keep an eye on Lacey btw." I pointed my fork at Shane who sat directly across me on the dining table opposite the kitchen.

"Ahh. Lacey? The girl you've been head over heels about huh?" Aunty P.'s chocolate brown eyes were filled with mischief.

"Mom..." Shane tried his best to hide his blush

"Dude you're soooo blushing." I leaned forward on the table to get a closer view of him and immediately he scowled at me.

"I don't think I wanna take her to the party..." I couldn't really read the expression on his face as he quickly looked down at his food.

"Are you ashamed of her?" I blurted out.

"NO... I mean no, not at all, I don't really care about the labels and she is beautiful but it's just ... did I tell you she found a printed invitation in her locker whereas we all received a Facebook invitation." Shane's chocolate brown eyes were filled with concern.

"Vera's been after you for so long and now she's playing all nice to the girl you like... hmm, something smells fishy...and I just don't believe the Heisting sisters." I stabled my roasted chicken thinking about the time when they both used Saira's weakness against her to get into the cheer squad. Bitches. "Hmm, just keep an eye on her, that's all you have to do." I tried to sound as supportive as I could but I knew they were up to something.

"Fine, I'll take her." Shane sighed with a half-smile dancing on his lips.

After dinner, I attempted to finish some math homework ... keyword attempted... soon I was distracted by the buzzing noise coming from across the room. I realized that I had I left my phone on the other nightstand. I quickly dived on my bed; face forward landing on my belly. This trick didn't hurt when I was younger, damn you boobs. Snatching my iPhone 4S off the table I adjusted myself on the bed.
