~* Raven's POV *~
I awoke in familiar darkness.
The little girl was there again, holding her stuffed rabbit tightly against her chest.
The younger version of me looked so sad and broken.
"She's gone." Her voice broke, tears falling.
I questioned, "Who?"
"My aunt." A ghost of a smile reached her lips, eyes glazed. "Every time I got sick, she was there. She would tuck me in, wet the towel, check my temperature. She never left my side until I felt better."
Something felt wet against my cheeks. I realized I was crying.
"You feel it too." She observed, walking up to me.
I looked down at her through my blurred vision. "Feel what?"
"The pain of losing someone close to you."
I shook my head, laughing. "That's impossible. No one has ever loved me. No one."
She frowned. "Don't say that. You were loved by many."
"Oh yeah? Who? The orphanage kids? Those monsters that made me feel like I belonged before turning their backs on me? Or maybe it was my foster parents! It's not like they tortured the hell out of me! Or maybe the kids at school loved me, right? Bullshit! I cried myself to sleep because of their taunts and bullying!"
I was laughing and crying at the same time, these painful memories fueling a darkness that resided in me.
"Oh wait. I know who definitely loved me. My mother! The mother who abandoned me and-"
"She didn't abandon you!" The little girl protested.
"Oh yeah? Then where the hell was she when I was thrown into the foster care system because I had no family? Where was she when my foster parents first beat me? Where was she when I first tried to kill myself? Where was she all those times I needed her?"
I completely broke down, sobbing.
The little girl remained quiet. She silently sat beside me, staring at me with the same blue eyes I had. Except there was a difference. Her eyes held the happiness and joy of once being loved.
She finally spoke. "You had a family that loved you. A father that spoiled you. A mother that protected you. A brother that cared for you."
I sniffled. "I did?"
She nodded. "All you have to do is remember."
Her head rested against mine. She hummed a familiar tune that made me feel sleepy. My eyes closed and I was whisked away into the black hole of memories.
I began to remember. My father. My mother. My aunt. A little boy, my brother, who always said my name.
"Celeste~ Come play with me!"
"Celeste, I'm bored!"
"Celeste, tell me a story before I sleep."
"Good morning, Celeste."
"You're the best sister ever, Celeste."
My name is Celeste Elenora Phantomhive, the only daughter of Count Vincent and Countess Rachel Phantomhive. My younger brother is the one who will take up my father's name as the Queen's loyal Guard Dog while I am the heiress to the Funtom Company.
Their faces were blurred, my memories still hazy but I could tell that I was happy and loved.
Everything was perfect. Until the night of the fire.
My parents perished. In the haze of the fire, me and my brother were kidnapped and taken away. We were sold to a cult that was obsessed with summoning the devil. And their method of summoning was torturing and sacrificing children.
The reason for their faith was because once, they were successful. In the 14th century, a demon was conjured and gave them its blood to experiment with. But in return, the demon took millions of lives. The chaos was known as the Black Plague, most of Europe being wiped out.
Ever since then, the cult continued and its obsession grew. They had two goals. One was to summon an even stronger being to grant their wish. Their second goal was to create a supernatural being using the blood of the demon they had obtained long ago.
I was used for their second goal. I remember everything.
They cut into me like I was a mere cadaver. I remember the searing pain of their scalpels and their sick stench of blood that always seemed to follow them. I was kept separate from my brother the whole time. I hoped that he was dead so he did not have to experience what I was going through.
Trial after trial. Failure after failure. I was mangled and disfigured beyond imaginable. Yet they kept me alive and awake because for some reason, my heart continued to beat. They were aghast as to how my heart continued while all the other children had died during the first few trials.
Now, it was just a sick game of let's see how long she lasts.
Until it wasn't a game any longer.
And they had succeeded their second goal.
I am no longer human.
I am a monster.
My eyes snapped open. The little girl gasped, fear written all over her face.
She hugged her stuffed rabbit, completely petrified as she stared at me.
I began to ask. "What is-"
I stopped mid sentence. The sound of my voice was sinister, seductive. It sounded like a siren's. Alluring yet filled with utter danger.
The little girl collapsed, a pool of blood surrounding her.
I quickly ran up to her. I reached to help her but her blood already coated my hands. Did I do this?
Her dull eyes were still open, frozen in fear and pale with death.
I could see my reflection in her orbs.
Gleaming red eyes glared back at me. Pointed teeth protruded from my mouth. Demon like horns. Black feathered wings. An ominous aura.
A menacing smile reached my lips.
Now that's more like it.
"Raven?"
I turned around and my heart stuttered.
Sebastian stood there, looking exactly like me. His phospherant fuchsia eyes were breathtaking. Behind his dark wings was a wicked and foul aura. Yet, I felt no fear for the demon in front of me.
A name echoed in my mind.
I whispered, "Alastor?"
He smiled. "You remembered."
A memory flashed before me.
A cruel, relentless demon meeting a broken soul in desperate need of fixing. In the end, the two saved each other from their own darkness.
That fateful encounter changed everything.
A/N:
Was that confusing? I feel like it was. LOL here, lemme clarify:
Raven is currently stuck in her own mind. She is trying to remember her past. The little girl is Raven but before Raven lost her memories. How did Raven lose her memories of the past and get transported to a whole other world? And how does Raven know Sebastian or should I say Alastor? You shall find out!
Oh and yes, Raven is not completely human. DUN DUN DUN!!!
Btw: Raven no longer remembers the world in which Felicity lived in. Raven only remembers the bad parts of it because it has forever traumatized her. But she doesn't remember who Felicity is or what anime is or anything like that. Only traumatic memories that happened like being abandoned, her foster parents beating her, the orphanage, bullying.
Hope that helped :)
