| Together | Chapter Eleven |
"Hey, Mothpaw. You should focus more on battle training, there's a battle coming up." Foxgust meowed.
"Right..! What were you saying?" Mothpaw asked.
"How to dodge a lunge properly." Foxgust answered.
Mothpaw shuddered, thinking about the battle. She dodged Foxgust's attack.
"You're pretty good at fighting, so don't worry!" Foxgust meowed cheerfully.
That's right, Raven... I can fight. Mothpaw felt pained thinking about Raven, even thought Mothpaw had chosen to leave...
Mothpaw leapt at Foxgust, managing to pin her down.
"Yes, like that! Keep your paws on their shoulders." Foxgust tutored.
Mothpaw did so, then let Foxgust up.
"Thank you." She meowed. "For being my mentor and helping me get into the Clan."
Foxgust blushed. "Well... Honestly, when I first saw you... You just looked like someone who went through a lot. Just like me. You looked like someone I could relate to, and be friends with." She replied.
"It's really nice being mentored by someone who also wasn't born into RiverClan." Mothpaw purred.
"Mothpaw... I like you." Foxgust mumbled.
"That's good!" Mothpaw replied, overjoyed.
"I mean as more than friends." Foxgust meowed nervously.
"Really?" Mothpaw gasped. "Like... You love me?"
"Yes!" Foxgust exclaimed. "I love you. And I don't ever want to lose you. And if one of us doesn't make it through the battle, I just want to say that."
"No need to be so dark! I promise, we won't die. I like you too." Mothpaw purred, leaning against Foxgust. "You know what, I should take you to meet Raven. And Thymefeather."
"Sure." Foxgust meowed.
"Come!" Mothpaw beckoned, and led Foxgust through the hills.
They stopped at Raven's den and Mothpaw padded in, Foxgust behind her.
Raven was curled up in her nest, her right eye covered in herbs. Thymefeather sat next to her.
"Moth?" Thymefeather meowed, turning their head.
"W-what happened to Raven?" Moth whimpered.
"She.. she got revenge for her parents. But she got deep scratch. I don't think she'll be able to see out of her right eye again." Thymefeather answered.
"Like me?" Foxgust blurted out.
"Huh?" Mothpaw asked.
"Oh... Nothing." Foxgust mumbled.
Raven opened her eye and lifted her head.
"Moth!" She leapt forwards and nuzzled Mothpaw. "I- I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have tried to control you. It's just- I wanted to protect you."
"It's okay! I forgive you. But I hope you understand that... I'm apart of RiverClan." Mothpaw meowed.
"That's okay. I shouldn't try to control you, and I promise I won't anymore. I'm just glad you're visiting." Raven purred.
"Hello!" Foxgust meowed. "Mothpaw has told me a lot about you."
"Oh. What's your name?" Raven asked.
"Foxgust." She answered.
"That's such a cool name!" Raven meowed.
"Raven's really changed since you came here, hm?" Thymefeather smiled to Moth. "She used to be so bitter. But not anymore..."
Mothpaw nodded.
Foxgust and Raven chattered away for quite a while.
"Oh! I should probably tell you guys..." Mothpaw announced. "Me and Foxgust are mates!"
"Congratulations!" Thymefeather gasped.
"Oh...! Congrats." Raven mumbled.
Over the next few days, Foxgust and Moth went to visit Raven and Thymefeather. It helped them forget about the looming battle. It gave them hope...
