That writes but pain and agony
And bleeding are the letters true
The scars of darkness, hard to see
Turn biting cold and ghastly blue

Affected are but children fair
Who shiver fearful in the dark
For adults know but mind's despair
The children - they know broken hearts

Broken hearts shattered dreams
Ballads of a better time
And no hope in darkness gleams
Little lips the music mime
