Coffee Shop part 2
"I'm home!" Laura called out entering her cozy home.
Scrunching up her eyebrows she cautiously walked deeper in, wondering why all the lights were off as well as the usual tiny lamp her mother loved to keep on in the kitchen.
"Uh.. Hello?" Laura called out cautiously as she tip-toed towards the kitchen.
"Mom? Dad!"
No answer.
Reaching the kitchen she jumped as a noise came from the basement door, just next to the entrance of the kitchen.
Walking closer she squealed as 2 dark shadows appeared.
"Laura?" One shadow said sounding a lot like her father
"Dad?" She questioned, their faces coming into view.
"Yeah," he chuckled, "who else would it be?"
Letting out a silent sigh of relief Laura hugged her parents, "What were you two doing?"
"The power went out as you can see," Ellen spoke up wiping some sweat from her forehead, "We really gotta fix the a/c down there. It's like a mini toaster."
---
"Well," Ellen sighed at the stove, "Powers out. Looks like I can't cook dinner tonight."
Laura turned her head away from her mother, a grin appearing on her face.
She loved her mothers cooking but the power going out would mean them going out for dinner which was something Laura enjoyed very much, but never did.
---
"Ugh i'm stuffed!" Damiano groaned getting into the car.
"Tell me about it!" Ellen groaned along, "That turkey was the size of a tea kettle and we ate it to the bone!"
Silently chuckling, Laura rolled her eyes.
Maybe this was why her parents never went out for dinner with her.
"Hey," she spoke up interrupting her parents as they sat in the front holding onto their stomachs, "You know I read that drinking a little coffee would help with the digestion,"
She watched as both parents exchanged looks before shrugging their shoulders
"What do you have in mind Laura?" Damiano asked looking at the review mirror.
"Well..." She started, trying to hide a grin, "There's this coffee shop I always go to that's really close. We could go there,"
---
The chime above the door swung from side to side as another customer walked in.
Not bothering to lift his head, Ross focused on the tiny coffee stain soaked into the counter.
"Where do you wanna sit honey?" He heard a woman ask, probably to her husband.
She sounded like she was in her 40's.
"Where do you wanna sit Laura?" He heard a man ask right after.
Probably the husband asking his daughter instead.
Typical.
---
Laura found herself walking towards the familiar booth; right in front of the counter.
It was 'her' booth.
She didn't bother answering her father. She had already spotted the familiar mop of blonde hair she had purposely came to see.
He didn't spot her though. He didn't even look up.
---
Finally getting out the stain Ross lifted his head realizing he forgot to greet the new customers.
Lifting up his head, his eyes widened as he spotted the familiar brunette sitting at the exact same booth she was just a few hours ago.
"When did she get here?" He questioned silently.
Shrugging off the thought he grabbed his pad and pen, walking towards his favorite customer.
He figured bringing her the usual coffee without her even ordering would cause strange looks from who looked to be her parents sitting next to her.
---
Laura ducked her head trying to remember why she thought it was a good idea to go with her parents.
"Guys!" She interrupted loudly, "Please. Just pick a coffee and make up your mind!"
Rolling their eyes, Damiano and Ellen ignored their daughter, going back to the menu.
"Hi." She heard someone say from next to her.
Turning her head she gasped as the familiar blonde now was standing right next to her.
"What can I get you?" He asked with his perfect teeth.
Laura found herself staring at them as they seemed to glisten in the sun even though there was none at the moment.
"Took you long enough!" Her mother snapped glaring at her father as he was trying to take the menu off her hands, "I'de like a ..."
---
"Alright, I think were done here." Her father sighed placing the bills on the table.
"Yup," Ellen agreed with a grin, "C'mon let's go."
"Wait!" Laura exclaimed stopping them, "I...i'll meet you in the car, I have to ... Use the bathroom!"
It was a lame excuse but it worked because her parents nodded their heads and headed out the shop.
Sighing of relief Laura hurriedly walked towards the counter where the blonde stood, his back faced towards her.
"H..hi," she called out nervously.
Turning around, the blonde stopped in his spot; almost dropping the cups he was holding.
"H..hi," he replied the same way.
Ducking her head, Laura let out a laugh.
She found it funny how awkward they were around each other.
"Um.. I'd like to drop off a tip."
Pointing towards the tip jar the blonde kept his gaze on her, like there was no tomorrow.
Laura awkwardly shook her head, "Actually I was hoping I could give this to you personally..."
Scrunching up his eyes, Laura noticed just how cute he actually was.
With his blonde locks looking as soft as a babies butt, and his dimples, with his beautiful hazel eyes.
"What do you mean?" He asked pulling her out of her daze.
"U..uh... Here." She stuttered handing him a dollar bill.
Taking it carefully, he pulled it close to himself for it was given to him personally from his favorite girl.
"Call me sometime." Laura smiled before heading out the tiny coffee shop on Ellington way.
---
"Call me sometime?" Ross questioned silently, "I'd love to but I don't even-"
Flipping the bill around, he noticed 10 numbers neatly written followed by a name, 'Laura'
A smirk forming on his face, he silently chuckled before laughing loudly, the excitement getting to him.
Ross sighed happily the way he got around his instruments and squealed, "Laura.. What a beautiful name."
