MistClan

𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄: MistClan. Cool! I like the name.

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆: Because the entire territory seems to be shrouded in mist. It is always hazy and the sunlight never really seems to penetrate to the ground. Additionally, the cats of MistClan all have a rather secretive and elusive nature in general. Ooh, sounds very mysterious.

𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘: MistClan comprises a densely packed pine forest that lets little to no sunlight filter through into the undergrowth. A thin layer of mist always seems to dance around in their territory. Close to the ground is a thick layer of bushes and shrubs. A stream runs along their border with MarshClan and WillowClan and a deep gorge separates them from StormClan. All apprentices are banned from going to the gorge. Warriors of MistClan call the gorge 'the Pit of Death' for it is one of the many unfortunate consequences defectors and trespassing cats may be subjected to. Just outside of MistClan's camp is an area that is oddly devoid of plant life, but strung with brambles on the edge, thus resulting in the area which is dusty, and barren but suitable for apprentices to train. That's cool! Very unique, and different from the forest territories I usually see. Although, does the mist only happen at some parts of the season, and where does It come from? I can't imagine there'd be mist above the snow in Leafbare.

𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏: MistClan's camp is at the heart of their territory, its entrance a small tunnel in the dense undergrowth that is obscured by surrounding, small trees and hidden in such a way that is invisible to the untrained eye. The small tunnel leads to a wide clearing shrouded in darkness and mist with a large crater in the ground, which is their camp, and a log running across the length of it. From atop the log and on the edges of the clearing, it is nearly impossible to see inside the crater, their second line of defense in case of invasions from other clans. Inside their camp, the leader's den leads to a High-Ledge where they make the announcements to the clan. A sloping path leads into the leader's den. The deputy's den is beside the leader's den and can be accessed by climbing up the tree roots and rocks that stick out from the side of the camp. The warrior's den is on the opposite side of the camp, woven from several plants and covered in a layer of thorns on the outside. Beside the warrior's den is the Nursery and it, along with the apprentices' den is much more heavily woven to protect the most vulnerable cats in the clan. The elders don't have a den and must sleep in the Nursery and deal with the kits, otherwise, they have lost all purposes that make them useful to the clan. In the darkest patch of the woods is where MistClan buries their dead. Bioluminescent mushrooms sometimes sprout, and clan members take that to mean that the dead have found their way to StarClan and rest in peace.

I like the bit about the bioluminescent mushrooms! It's very unique. And it's interesting to see how Elders are not held to high standards in this Clan. In most Clans, they're respected, but it makes sense that this Clan has different beliefs.

𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒

CINDERSTAR - a soft-furred black ticked tabby she-cat with deep blue eyes. Cool! Also, since there are a lot of cats here, I'll only be doing notes on the ones that I need to comment on.

Deputy

WASPSTING - A golden tabby tom with solid black stripes and harsh golden eyes.

Medicine cats

GHOSTWHISPER - A half-blind white tom with blue eyes. I really like the prefix Ghost. It's very mysterious.

ASHPOOL - A grey tabby tom with soft blue eyes.

Warriors

BLACKCLOUD - A long-furred black tom with dark grey paws, a white chest, and green eyes.

FROSTSHARD - A white tom with light-grey streaks and blue eyes.

GLASSFLICKER - A black she-cat with white flecks and grey eyes. She was a former kittypet. Hmm, I didn't expect this Clan to take in Kittypets, considering they're a bit more ruthless than others I've seen.

VIXENLEAP - A russet-orange she-cat with black paws, a white tail tip, and orange eyes.

NETTLESHADE - A dark brown tabby tom with white paws and icy blue eyes.

WOLFHOWL - A grey tom with a darker overcoat and piercing yellow eyes. The addition of a darker overcoat is cool.

CLEARMOON - A white she-cat with black-tipped ears, muzzle, paws, tail, and red eyes. Nice, but cats can't have red eyes, unless they're albino, and even then, it's usually pink. They can have dark or bright ginger, but pure red is impossible.

FEATHERFALL - A white she-cat with grey streaks and water-blue eyes.

ONYXPEARL - A silver mackerel tabby she-cat with yellow eyes.

ICETHORN - A white she-cat with black spots and icy blue eyes.

LAKESTREAM - A grey tom with copper-furred patches and green eyes.

HAILROAR - A brown tom with a white muzzle, chest, paws, tail tip, and greenish-yellow eyes.

SOOTFLECK - A creamy white tom with dark grey color points and darker grey flecks. He has amber eyes.

HALFMOON - A half-black half-ginger tabby she-cat with one pale blue eye and one dark blue eye. Ooh, a chimera! I love that pattern.

LEOPARDSTALK - A red rosette "pseudo-tabby" she-cat with golden eyes.

TINYCLOUD - A small skinny white tom with frightened yellow eyes. Why's he so scared? Also, if I remember correctly, there's a cannon SkyClan cat named Tinycloud.

Apprentices

CLOUDPAW - A white tom with green eyes.

HONEYPAW - A golden she-cat with soft-yellow eyes and a white tail tip.

WILLOWPAW - A light brown tabby she-cat with pale green eyes.

Queens

DAPPLEDLIGHT - A tortoiseshell she-cat with large white patches and yellow eyes.

HEATHERSTALK - A lilac-colored she-cat with yellow eyes. Cute

DAWNFLOWER - A long-furred cream she-cat with warm hazel eyes.

Kits

SHADEKIT - A grey tom with blue eyes.

SILENTKIT - A silver she-cat with pale blue eyes.

MAPLEKIT - A calico she-cat with spring-green eyes. Spring-green is a description I don't see often!

BLIZZARDKIT - A long-furred white tom with grey paws and blue eyes.

SHARPKIT - A grey tom with white flecks and sharp grey eyes.

MOONKIT - An elegant white she-cat with light cream patches and dull blue eyes.

Elders

SPARKFLARE - A ginger tabby tom with blue eyes.

OCEANSHROUD - A grey tom with green eyes and white splotches. I like his name; Shroud is a suffix I haven't often seen. Do you mind if I add it to my name catalog?

𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐄: When the original four clans collapsed due to several factors, including inter-clan wars, internal conflict, lack of prey, and human intervention, the remaining cats banded together to travel far away, in hopes of finding a better place for their kin, families, kits and most importantly, for each other. The journey wasn't all smooth sailing, of course. Many cats died due to the extreme terrain they crossed and some cats separated from the group, after deciding the journey was too risky or a particular place deemed worthy to them. After coming across a vast area of virtually untouched land and the remaining cats settled there, their numbers are still quite large. They decided that the former system of how the clans operated didn't work so they all settled in one place and worked together, like one large clan. They all appointed Stormstrike as their leader, Marshtuft as the deputy, and Willowcreek as his medicine cat. However, one overly ambitious warrior, Ravennight, thought otherwise and decided to thwart their leadership and spread rumors about how Stormstrike only became a leader, not for the better of the group, but for the benefit of himself.  Interesting! Kind of like how SkyClan left the forest and re-banded.

Due to the gullibility of a few cats in the group, she acquired a small band of followers, not large enough to challenge the current authority yet, but large enough to depart on her own and did that, on the darkest night of the moon. She traveled with her band of cats for the entire night until they reached a foreboding, dark pine forest. Deciding to settle there, not due to any preference but because of the fact that most of the cats in her band were exhausted and Ravennight knew that if she was to have any resistance against Stormstrike, she would need cats who would die for the cause. Later, her group set camp at the heart of the territory, a deep crater in the ground with a log across the length. It was only found when Ravennight barrelled after a piece of prey, determined not to lose it. She knew that this camp would be so obscure, partially due to the darkness and also how hard it was to see the entrance to the camp to the untrained eye. After her group continued to fortify the camp and mark the territory they had now claimed, Ravennight went to seek loners, rogues, and kittypets, anyone who would join her clan. After she had amassed a decent number of cats, she decided it would be time to test Stormstrike's leadership. But on the night of the attack, her deputy, Crowflight, advised her otherwise.

Cool! So that's how MistClan was formed?

He said that since they already had everything they wished for and a decent number of cats to keep the clan running, why should they even bother challenging Stormstrike's authority? Ravennight was stubborn in her plan but eventually, Crowflight persuaded her not to attack. The medicine cats at the time found a secluded cave high in the mountains with a cold pool of water glistening with what looked like starlight and decided that was where StarClan would connect with them. Ravennight was then granted nine lives by her ancestors when Stormstrike's were rejected. StarClan said that she had the will to stand against norms. After Stormstrike heard about Ravennight, now Ravenstar gained her nine lives while he didn't and split off with his most loyal followers to a deciduous oak forest on the other side of the gorge that split them from Ravenstar's land. Marshtuft, also seizing the opportunity, took to the rivers that flew with an abundance of prey on the other side of Ravenstar's territory. Willowcreek, along with the remaining cats decided to stay in the fragrant meadows that the group used to live in.

Why didn't Stormstrike receive his lives? Sure he didn't stand up to the norms, but he wasn't evil or malicious enough to be denied, from what I see. Considering cats like Brokenstar and Tigerstar were given nine lives despite their crimes, Stormstrike doesn't seem like the worst leadership candidate.

For many moons, blood was shed over where borders existed, many deciding to take a stab at Ravenstar's territory for they had not heard a peep from any of the cats there for a couple of moons. Every time a small patrol scouted into MistClan's territory, they were never heard or seen again. Ravenstar abruptly emerged one night at a Gathering and proclaimed that their territory was now named MistClan, in honor of their abilities, rather than the leader, for the leader is temporary, and skills passed down through generations are endless. MistClan didn't have a peaceful time though. Whenever they stepped outside their borders, they were attacked by MarshClan. Ravenstar decided that to prevent the loss of more cats, MistClan would become nocturnal, thus enabling them to avoid most of the daytime skirmishes and they could hunt in the outskirts of other clans' territories when they were awake. Ravenstar, aware of attacks when they were asleep, decided to tell other clans that they were nocturnal when instead, the clan awoke and slept according to their needs. Now, MistClan is reputed as one of the most feared clans in the four territories. The lore of this Clan is obviously very well-thought-out. It's very unique, and quite interesting!

𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒: Most cats excel at the battle and verbal sparring, but only approximately a third of the clan are actually good at hunting, thus prompting their waste not, want not behavior, however, the feature that sticks out to other clans is their stealth and almost mystical one-step-ahead-of-you behavior. Cool

𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐑: These cats are not the type you would want to make fun of. They fight in such a way that it seems as though they can already predict your next move, but more often than not, it is the extraordinary observation skills they possess that aid them in battle. These cats are manipulative and sly to the point that they almost caused a war between the other three clans early in their history. This fits with the lore, and story so far.

𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐘: Anything that is salvageable to eat. They don't really mind, since their immune system has adapted to almost constantly eating rotten flesh during leaf-bare. I'd guess their breath isn't the greatest. But besides jokes, that's interesting!

𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐐𝐔𝐄 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐒: all cats seem to be born with exceptional observation skills and the fact they almost merge into the shadows. Cool

𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐒 𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌: StormClan, the brave and courageous. These cats pride themselves in their battle technique and their fearlessness. WillowClan, the peaceful and calm. These cats do not seek violence and always approach the most peaceful solution to everything. MarshClan, the forgiving and plentiful. These cats are the most well-fed and thus, don't have a large territory. However, they can be quite narcissistic because of their abundance. Alright

𝐂𝐎𝐃𝐄/𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒: Anyone who is found to be unloyal or defect from the clan is usually tortured until either the pain kills them or thrown into the Pit of Death. Otherwise, the code is pretty much the same as the canon code. Pretty brutal.

Overall, MistClan obviously has a lot of work and care put into it! It's very well-thought-out,  and makes sense almost everywhere. There are very minimal things I could see needed improvement, even when I was picking apart at it. For that, it gets a 9.8/10!
