The Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds

(I'm not really a Stones fan, but decided to listen to this album.)

Angry: instantly a cool beat. Sounds a bit pitch corrected, maybe? Could be wrong. The guitar riffs and solo isn't bad. 7/10

Get Close: kind of 50's/60's chord progressions at some points. Great drums. Some fusion between genres. Almost country-esque. But repetitive. 5/10

Depending On You: sounds different than the other first two. I don't think the lyrics are that great or interesting. More pitch-corrected sounding vocals. I like the guitar and drums. Also country sounding. 4/10

Bite My Head Off: Punk, heavy, intense. Paul McCartney plays bass on it, though it's hard to hear. I really like the heavy rock and roll guitars. Cool beat. I like the anger and hate seeping through the lyrics and music. "I got the world to worry about," is good. Ends abruptly. 9/10

Whole Wide World: good chords, but I don't like some of the lyrics. Or the vocals. It sounds like the guitar has a phaser which is fine. Could be better. It's hopeful. Kinda David Bowie sounding, the way he's singing. Fast. 3/10

Dreamy Skies: I was surprised how different all these songs are from each other. This one has that loose, wobbly slide guitar, even more country. It's more calm. Honky tonky (it does mention honky tonk and Hank Williams), a little sad, but he sounds like he just wants to be somewhere peaceful. The bridge (?) is interesting with the chords. 8/10

Mess It Up: starts far away sounding, which is different. Little more bluesy melody. But not too fast after hearing something so calm. A bit disco? But in that modern, Dua Lipa way, not 70's disco. Reminds me of "Find My Way" by Paul McCartney with the harmonies. I like the high notes. 8/10

Live By The Sword: another song that starts with counting off. I find it a little annoying with the singing and words. But the guitars, drums, percussion and piano is cool. A bit of a tempo change at one part, which works. Good guitar solo. 4/10

Driving Me Too Hard: a kind of Dave Grohl style vocal, which is nicer to my ears in my opinion. Not a fan of Mick Jagger. A bit country. Lyrics are fine. Though, it is repetitive. 5/10

Tell Me Straight: it has a different beat. But sounds a little similar to the previous song. Someone singing who wants answers. Someone else is singing, but I don't know who. Good piano. Kinda 70's sound in general. Mellow guitars. Also slightly Paul McCartney. Shorter, and not complicated. 6/10

Sweet Sounds Of Heaven (Featuring Lady Gaga): I was interested by the piano - it's gospel-like. This is also somewhat bluesy. Love that piano sound. Lady Gaga's harmonies are good. Soulful. Nice chords. I like the bridge chords too. Maybe a bit Queen-like? Very long - 7:20, false ending. Funny  when they both sing high notes (but obviously it's harder for him to sing it). 9/10

Rolling Stone Blues: I do like a good blues. And this is such a storytelling song. Even has that harmonica and acoustic guitar. It's good. Nice way to end the album. 9/10
