The Beatles - Let It Be

(Such a great album considering they had 3 weeks to write 14 songs.. Wish they did full covers of stuff like The Midnight Special. Sounded great in Get Back)

🏤

Two Of Us : very upbeat but simple, I love how sincere it sounds. It does kinda feel like John and Paul's relationship over the years (though Paul has said it's about Linda and him). I like the bridge - "you and I have memories.." It's a nice melody, the lyrics are easy going. 9/10

Dig A Pony: nonsense words, but nonetheless still catchy. I think it's a funny song, I don't see anything wrong with it. Good beginning riff. Stuff like "you can syndicate every boat you row." only some of the lines make sense. I like Paul's high notes on the "all I want is you-ooh-ooh" parts. Good solo. 7/10

Across The Universe: beautiful melody and words. Love the guitar intro. It's a very calm and almost meditative song, especially with its "jai guru deva om" mantra bit. I love the "nothing's gonna change my world" lyric. 10/10

I Me Mine: one of my favorite Beatles songs in general. I love that it's in waltz timing, classic George Harrison song. Of course it's about people being selfish (his band mates...?), and the drumming is amazing -- Ringo seemed just as enthusiastic as George. Unfortunately it's more Rock 'n' Roll than George wanted. but at the end of those rock sections, beginning at 0:57, you can hear sharp, alarmed strings. 10/10

Dig It: this is even more nonsense then Dig A Pony. Although the line "like the C.I.A. and the F.B.I" reminds me of Queen's "The Invisible Man". I wonder if it was intentional. Even Ringo's drumming on this is good. 5/10

Let It Be: This is a great song, some of the lyrics have more than one meaning and it's up for interpretation, nice music. But a little too over played/popular. I'm not always in the mood for this one, but the lyrics stand out. Timeless. 9/10

Maggie Mae: A fun traditional Liverpool song, I think it's nice that they included that little random jam moment. 7/10

I've Got A Feeling: I like the opposite lyrics, ("everybody pulled their socks up, everybody put their foot down..") and it's a true Lennon/McCartney song. It's a nice song, a little boring sometimes. 7/10

One After 909: Another song they used to play apparently, it's pretty simple. But I love the energy of it, it kind of does have that train energy - being a train song. 8/10

The Long And Winding Road: I always liked this one, though the naked version without all the  strings sounds better and more sentimental. I love the lines "the wild and windy night, that the rain washed away. Has left a pool of tears, crying for the day." Beautiful melody. Interesting chords. 8/10

For You Blue: not George's best, but I like it. I like how they put a paper in the piano to make it sound honky tonk. That's what sounds almost like a banjo. Love John's slide guitar solo, there's a more relaxed energy of this one. Kind of a silly love song. 7/10

Get Back: it began as a protest song, and evolved into something else. I like the rhythm of it, definitely makes me want to bop along to it. Billy Preston has a great keyboard solo on here, the way he plays is so enthusiastic and fits in perfectly like Ringo's drums do. 8/10

BONUS

The Ballad Of John and Yoko: Never has been my favorite, I find it a little simple. It has an interesting beat and some good guitar licks that John did himself, though. 5/10
