Paul McCartney - Memory Almost Full
(Paul has so much solo work, to be honest. But that lets you kind of pick and choose - "rock à la carte," if you will)
Dance Tonight: nice song, I like the melody quite a bit. The whistling is nice. Almost sounds like a song you'd listen to on the beach or something. 7/10
Ever Present Past: catchy, it has a little wordplay even in the title. Very pop sound. It's fine. Doesn't stick out to me, though. 5/10
See Your Sunshine: a love song, it sounds like. Also pretty pop, but more mellow. He does that thing he loves to do again, where he sings and the instrument does the same tune. The song is not really that great to me. 4/10
Only Mama Knows: it starts (and ends) with dramatic strings. Rather melancholy. Then it goes into rock. Of course. The drums are uptight, not really a full sound. Sounds similar to some of his other songs. I don't think the theme is very strong. Fun high note. 5/10
You Tell Me: this sounds dramatic as well, being in a minor mode. Almost country. Good melody. His voice is nice, so are the harmonies. Haunting in a way.
Mr Bellamy: I don't like the way Paul's singing, maybe it's the melody, but I find it a bit off. A different beat. Creepy low voices. There's a childlike theme to the words chosen. Then it goes into a completely different tune. 4/10
Gratitude: nice harmony at the beginning. Also a bit bluesy. Typical optimism from him. And there's piano. Good beat and high notes. More calm. I like the chords.
Vintage Clothes: title sounds interesting itself. Sounds like it's trying to be older sounding, but still modern pop, so it doesn't. More whistling. Has potential. I like the high notes.
That Was Me: seamless sound from the last song. A bit of ego, possibly. Almost rock 'n' roll guitar walking line. The piano (?) is slightly not fitting in. Simple melody. 3/10
Feet In The Clouds: intro chords remind me of "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)". A twist, instead of head in the clouds and feet on the ground, they're swapped. Chill attitude. It's nice, aside from the 'robot' voice. 6/10
House Of Wax: we're back to minor keys. And more robotic sound, which might be auto-tune. I'm a little bored by it. Too darkly dramatic, even when it goes major for a bit. Long. 3/10
The End Of The End: well, a nice contrast from the previous one. Also happily optimistic, as Paul is. Even when he mentions death, it's in a light way - happiness. I really like when he whistles, it sounds very lovely. "No need to be sad", it's at peace. 7/10
Nod Your Head: It has some harsh, blues guitar. And he's putting on that rocker voice. I don't like the lyrics or melody very much. The End Of The End would've been a nice album ender. 3/10
