Chapitre 6 : L'amour Revient Toujours

It was almost ten o'clock in the Sunday morning. Although Remy woke up, he did not want to get out of bed. He kept looking at his ring. He couldn't stop thinking about the magical adventure he has been through yesterday. He cuddled his blanket as if he was hugging Git. Then he started to laugh softly as he covered his face and rolled around his bed. Even though he rolled off the bed, he couldn't stop laughing. As he continued to laugh, he was embarrassed by his own laugh, so he covered his face with a blanket as he laughed.

When he finally calmed down, he decided to head to the kitchen and prepared breakfast for him and Linguini. He scrambled the eggs, roasted the bacons, and fixed some toasts. Remy hummed as he set up the table. Linguini, who slept in late, came out stretched.

"Good morning, little chef!" Linguini said, "Thanks to you, I cannot wait to eat breakfast everyday!"

Remy smiled as he pushed the plate to Linguini. Then they both started to eat their late, lazy, yet satisfying breakfast. Remy was still thinking about his date with Git yesterday as he ate. So he looked happier than before.

"Say, I never saw you that happy, little chef!" Linguini said, "Did you have a nice dream?"

Remy shrugged, still smiling and chewing. After breakfast, Remy sat on the windowsill and looked at the sky, then the Eiffel Tower, then back at the sky. "Oh, I want to visit him again," Remy said to himself as he kept gazing up at the sky. Although he wanted to see Git, he also decided to keep himself from being clingy.

Linguini went out to go see Colette and Anton Ego to discuss about the income for their bistro. Linguini called as he walked out, "I'm gonna take a while, little chef. Anton Ego hired a financial advisor and we are going to discuss a lot of things there. You can stay here yourself, right?" Remy nodded and waved as he walked out.

Though Remy sat on his bed for good half an hour, he decided to take a fresh air and he climbed up to the roof. He never got tired of looking at the Paris view whether it was day or night. The view is always the same, yet it is always beautiful. Remy thought as he lied down to catch the rays of the sun and feel the nice breeze. It was a perfect weather for Remy. He held his hand up to see the ring in a blue background. Suddenly, he heard something climbing up. He quietly got up and walked towards the edge of the roof. Before he got to the end to look down, Git quickly jumped up to the surface of the roof. Remy was very excited to see him.

"Git?" Remy asked, hiding his excitement, "what brings you here?"

"Boredom, nothing special to do," Git replied as he dusted himself, "So I decided to get out. Of course, I told your father. I did not tell him I was going to meet you though."

"Oh," Remy said, and then smiled, "I'm glad you came to me,"

"Were you bored also, my little chef?" Git asked mischievously.

"Well," Remy started carefully, "I wanted to meet you, but I didn't want to be too clingy. You don't really like that kind of personality, after all,"

"You're exceptional, Remy," Git said warmly, "Seeing you makes me happy."

Remy smiled shyly instead of saying anything. His words are always sweet, he thought, much sweeter than desserts. Then they both sat down together arm in arm and admired the view of Paris while talking about rat colony and the bistro, just like yesterday on their romantic date.

"You know," Remy said, "looking at this city is beautiful, no matter what time it is."

"I know what you mean," Git said.

They both wished that the time stopped this way. Just when they thought that everything went smoothly, Remy heard a stomach growling. Oh no, not again... wait I just ate. How is this possible? Remy thought, confused. He heard a stomach growl again. Then he realized that it was Git's stomach growling, not his.

"Looks like I need energy just by coming here," Git said as he looked at the other way, putting his hand over his stomach. Remy snickered mellowly.

"Well, I'll get you something to eat and we'll call it even!" Remy told him with a shy, but bright grin across his face. He and Git climbed down and entered in the kitchen. "Do you have any specific menu in your mind?" Git shook his head as he sat down.

Remy roasted a piece of ham on a frying pan, spread some tomato sauce on the top, and sprinkled mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of it and melted it with a torch, then he served it.

"Mm," Git said as he chewed on the bread. Remy looked at him eat. Git noticed that he wasn't eating, so he stopped chewing. "You're not eating?" Git asked.

"I just ate," Remy replied, "I'm not hungry,"

"Well, I don't want to eat by myself," Git said, then he asked pleadingly, "at least have a piece of bread while I eat?"

Remy nodded and grabbed a piece of bread that he used earlier for toasts for breakfast. They both quietly chewed their food as they sat across from each other.

"So, what did you usually do on the weekend?" Git asked as he swallowed his mouthful, "You know, before you started to date me,"

"Nothing much," Remy replied as he looked as his bread, "maybe dust this place a little bit, or I visit the colony to see dad and Emile."

"Right," Git said as he nodded, "besides visiting the colony, it does not sound that fun,"

"Yeah," Remy said, "but rest of the time I'm free. A little nice break. What about you?"

"Same," Git said, "well, everyday is the same. All I did was help set up the tables, find some food, and free time the rest of the day."

Then Git swallowed his last mouthful, put down the knife and fork and asked Remy, "Even?" Remy swallowed his last piece of bread and replied, "Even." Then they both laughed delicately. Their embarrassment went away. Although it may be natural for rats to feel hungry more often, but their stomachs always growled at a wrong time, especially when things went smoothly for them. But now they do not have to worry about their stomachs growling, they continued to admire the view of Paris on the top of the roof, as they sat down arm in arm. They had million things to talk about as they sat on the roof.

"So I'm pretty sure the bistro's gonna attract more customers huh," Git said.

"Oh yeah, it definitely would!" Remy said. "The chicken steak became so popular. The culinary arts article is talking about it so much in the county newspaper. So anything else happen in the colony?"

"We did this ball game with Emile and our friends. Someone kicked the ball and hit Emile right in the face. He was guilty at first, but then later on, we found everything so funny."

"Oh my goodness! I really wish that I was there to see it!"

"You would've laughed your butt off!"

Although they never got tired of talking to each other, they did run out of things to say. "Say, wanna watch a movie?" Remy offered.

"Oh yes. Last time, you fell asleep on my shoulder while watching the movie," Git said.

"Oh, I haven't realized that," Remy replied. He turned on a movie for them. He turned on A la Folie, Pas Du Tout. Remy prepared popcorn again. Although the story line was very interesting,  it creeped them out a little.

That was an interesting movie, Gt thought as he movie ended. Then he realized that the sun was setting. Git decided to take a leave before it gets darker. "Well, I should head back now," Git said. Remy nodded in agreement and they both headed out to the door.

"See you later then?" Remy said warmly.

"Tomorrow maybe," Git said back warmly. Then they both exchanged a short kiss before Git left. Remy sighed mellowly as he walked in. The kiss may be short but it felt very sweet. He smiled and headed to the kitchen. Since he did not when when Linguini will be back, he just prepared the ingredients. He took out pasta noodles, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic, and some chopped onions. While he waited for Linguini to come back, he read Anyone Can Cook. While he was looking over the map of the kitchen, Linguini came in. He quickly hid his ring.

"Hey little chef!" Linguini called with full of pride, "We made so much money this month! At this rate, our bistro would be well known in France!" Remy was so glad to hear that, he gave him a thumbs up. "So, what's for dinner today?" Remy pointed at the ingredients. "Tomato sauce spaghetti with meatballs sounds nice! I'll be waiting for it!"

Then he started to cook tomato sauce spaghetti. He happily served the dishes with the huge smile across his face. "Seems like you had fun today, little chef. Did anything great happen today?" Remy shrugged. With their happy feelings, their dinner tonight tasted even more delicious today for both Remy and Linguini.
