Chapitre 40 : Le Quatrième Tourisme

After he finished his work on Friday, he quickly went home and looked for some books and brochures about where they can visit in Paris. So far they have visited Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame. "Let's see..." Remy said to himself as he looked through books and brochures. "There is... Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Montmartre, Sacré-Cœur, Sainte-Chapelle, Jardin du Luxembourg, Latin Quartier, Palais Garnier... man there are a lot of places to visit! Where should I go with Git?" He sat down as he looked at his happy choices. "I can't decide right now, I should do some baking." That's what he did every time when he couldn't make up his mind. He made a dough, made several dozens of mini donuts, put them on a pan, and baked it. While waiting, he continued to look up places to visit. "Palais Garnier seems very interesting. Just because I don't pick one, that doesn't mean I can't visit any other places anymore. All right, Palais Garnier is it!" When the donuts were done, he glazed them with regular glaze and chocolate. "Mmm, it smells so good!" He said as he sniffed his own perfection of deserts. He wrote a letter next to the mini donuts saying, "Dear Linguini and Colette, this is my little gift for you for helping me with competition, and the placement test. Sincerely, Remy." Then he felt somewhat tired, took a warm shower to relieve himself, and went to bed. He fell asleep almost immediately when he lied down.

Remy stood up, somewhere he didn't recognize. Where am I? He thought as he looked around. To him, it seemed like a paradise. Whoa, look at this place! He thought as he walked around. Funny, he thought. Because there seemed to be no other signs of life, except him. It's very quiet around here, he thought as he listened carefully in the area. It was dead silent. This must be a dream again. He pinched himself. Yup. It's definitely a dream. But what kind of dream was this? All of the sudden, he smelt something. I can smell things in my dream? He sniffed around. Smells like... chocolate cake. Remy thought as he followed the trace of smell. The smell got closer, and closer, and closer. Huh? It looked like a ballroom, full of rats.

"Remy, there you are!" Emile called him. He walked up to Remy and said, "Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you!"

Remy was very confused. "Emile, what is this place?"

"Do you not recognize your own restaurant?" Emile was also confused.

"The renovation is finished already?" Remy asked as he looked around.

"Remy, it was finished long time ago..." Emile replied. Both of them were confused, but in different ways. "Anyways, let's go."

This is a weird dream, but it's really nice. Remy thought as he looked around the renovated restaurant. Although it was a dream, he knew that he should look around for a bit and keep the images in his mind so that he can request it to Ego. Something slightly tapped him from behind. "Oh, hi, Git."

"Remy I'm so proud of you getting your restaurant this big." Remy hugged to thank his compliment. "Now, little chef, will you do me a favor and wake up?" Remy was confused. Then something shook him. All he heard was "Wake up, little chef."

When Remy opened his eyes, he saw Linguini in front of him. "I'm sorry that I woke you up, but there's something that I really want you to see." He brought up a blueprint. "So, we're deciding that this is how it will look like when we do the renovation. Since you're the chef, you have a big voice. Do you want any changes, or are you satisfied with it?" Remy looked carefully at the blueprint. He was surprised because some of the scenes were similar to what he had dreamed.

Of course, not all were same and similar, but Remy was satisfied. He wrote, "Satisfied." Linguini smiled and said,

"Okay, I'll turn it in now so that they can start the renovation. It'll take around 3 weeks. Are you okay with that?" Remy nodded his head yes. "Thank you, little chef. Do you have plans today?" Remy nodded yes. "Okay, have fun!" Linguini exited the apartment to turn in the blueprints. Remy stood up to get ready to go out with Git. He looked into the mirror and fixed himself like he always does before going out with him.

When he was done taking care of himself, he went to the kitchen to see what he should have for breakfast. While thinking about what to eat, he saw Git coming in through the windowsill. He's pretty early, he thought as he waved back at Git, who was waving from a distance. When he came to the kitchen Git asked, "So, did you choose where to go?"

"Palais Garnier. It may be a little bit far, but if we can find somewhere we can..." Remy said, a little worried about getting there.

"Don't worry, I know a shortcut everywhere in Paris," Git said confidently.

"You pretty much have grasp of everywhere in this city, don't you?" Remy asked.

"Pretty much. I lived here, remember?" Git winked.

"But have you really been to everywhere in Paris?" Remy asked again.

"Hmm... uhh... I don't know, maybe not," Git said as he thought for a moment. "Paris is a huge city. But I happen to know Palais Garnier, and every other places we've visited."

"Anyways, do you want to eat before going somewhere, or just go?" Remy offered.

"I think we should eat something before going. I came here early for a reason." Git winked. "Plus, you don't like me hearing your stomach growling."

"Well, that's true," Remy snickered.

"So, what are we having?" Git asked.

"I wanted to cook you Foie Gras. I got the ingredients already, and after the competition, I really wanted to cook you one. Sounds good?"

"All right, let's see how it tastes," Git said.

Remy prepared duck foie gras, salt, pepper, canola oil, and balsamic vinegar. He spread canola oil on a heated pan and placed the duck foie gras in a high heat for some time. Then he seasoned foie gras with salt and pepper. While cooking the foie gras, he removed all the fat coming out from the liver, and spread a bit of balsamic vinegar.

"All right, complete!" He said as he placed the foie gras on separate plates and served.

Git took a bite. "Hmm, so this is how foie gras tasted like. It's really delicious!"

"Glad you like it. Someone cooked this for the competition and got second place."

Without saying anything else, Git finished his plate. Remy was surprised by how fast Git can finish his food. "You know, you finish food really fast."

"Because your food is so delicious." Git complimented. Remy smiled and finished his food. "So let's go?" Remy nodded.

"Oh my, I'm so excited! I've always wanted to visit the opera house!" Remy was thrilled.

"I'm so glad you chose where you wanted to go." Git said as he walked with Remy. It was about thirty-minute walk just to get there.

"You know, every time we go somewhere, it is much better in reality than pictures," Remy was astonished by the building.

"I'm pretty sure inside is much more beautiful," Git said as he gazed at the exterior design of Palais Garnier.

"Yeah, let's go in!" Remy grabbed Git's arms and raced towards the entrance. They both quickly went inside to enjoy the view of the inside. Remy and Git's eyes were opened so wide that it seemed like their eyeballs were nearly about to pop out of their eyes. The chandeliers that were hanging were so elegant and fancy that their eyes were glued to every single one of them. The floor dazzled as it reflected the light of the chandeliers. "How did they manage to carve up every single pole that perfectly?" Each poles looked like a work of art. "I want to live in place like this."

"Yeah..." Git breathed in amazement. They slowly walked around, gazing at the remarkable interior design. Their eyes seemed to be filled with paradise. The couldn't keep their amazed mouth closed.

Soon, their eyes started to hurt. They've been staring at it too long. They both gently rubbed their eyes and blinked multiple times to make their eyes feel better. They both took a break, and started to be amazed by the chandeliers and the walls again. They never got tired of looking at it. Then there was a painting of a man that caught Git's attention.

"Hey, Remy, who is that?" Git asked as he pointed at the painting.

"Oh that? He is Napoleon Bonaparte. A leader during the war. A lot of people, at least in this country, respect him a lot. I don't know, I don't really know much about history." Then they heard a music. An extremely soothing music, created by human voice.

"Where is the sound coming from? It's so beautiful."

Remy paid close attention. "I think it's coming from the auditorium. Come on, let's go check it out!" He grabbed his arm again and headed towards the auditorium. They found an opening to go hide and enjoy the concert. As soon as the woman finished singing, the applause echoed inside the auditorium. While the auditorium was filled with sound of applause and cheer, Remy noticed that the auditorium was also filled with fanciness. "Did you notice that the auditorium is fancy too?" he asked Git. He looked around the auditorium. Remy heard a deep exhale from Git.

"How can people make this place this shiny and fancy?" Git chuckled in disbelief. He and Remy gaped in awe as they looked around.

Then they heard another applause as the new woman came in. The woman gently organized her dress and modestly held the microphone. When the applause calmed down, she started to sing Habanera. Along with her voice, musical instruments started to play. "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle..." They were both stunned by the singer's voice. "L'amour est enfant de bohème~. Il n'a jamais, jamais, connu de loi..." Her voice went into their ears much more smoothly than the songbirds that they hear in the morning. "Si je t'aime, prends garde à toi!" Listening to her made them feel much more relaxed than usual. Her voice was so great that it seemed as if the musical instruments weren't necessary for the concert. For the wonderful performance, they applauded along with people.

"How can a voice of human be this beautiful?" Remy passionately said as he became so emotional and put his hands over his chest. "I might be emotional for the next few more hours when I leave this auditorium."

"I don't think the concert is done yet," Git as as he pointed the next one in line. The woman was also dressed nicely and stepped on the stage smoothly. They started to play the musical instruments to introduce Je Te Veux sang by that woman.

"Hey, Remy, that's the song we always dance to!" Git exclaimed softly with excitement.

"Uh-huh, it is. Wow, she's so elegant!" Remy was amazed.

"J'ai compris ta détresse cher amoureux..." the woman sang that sounded much more pleasant than nightingale's voice.

"Even her voice is elegant!" Git sighed very deeply as he was very moved by her voice.

"They must have practiced a lot. Oh my goodness... I'm so glad I chose to visit here," Remy was even more emotional than before. He sighed deeply and leaned on to Git. Git caressed the side of his head as Remy leaned onto him. "Mmm... your arms are always so cozy to lean on." Git smiled and chuckled lovingly. The woman's magical singing voice was like a background music for their moment.

Even when the concert was over, Remy and Git were still emotional. The fascinating voices and the enchanting sounds of musical instruments were still circulating around their eardrums and inside their brain. They were spacing out for quite a long time. Along with the melodies floating around their brain, the fanciness of auditoriums forced them to stay a little.

"Remy," Git spoke up, "I'm glad you chose this place."

"I know," Remy said, "it was one of the greatest experiences of my life." Then he stood up and said, "Well, let's go now. This place is very nice, but I still want to go back home where I can cook." Git smiled and stood up.

"Remy, this atmosphere really got me in the mood. Can we have romantic dinner?"

"All right," they both stepped outside. It was still light out. "Oh wow, what time is it right now? It's too bright to be evening."

"Let's find a clock somewhere," Git said. He held Remy's hand and walked around to see if there is any public clock standing anywhere. When they found one, it read 4:23. "Maybe we took a lot of time being mesmerized by Palais Garnier. Concert didn't seem that long."

"Mmm," Remy said, "anyways, what do you want for romantic dinner?"

"Lasagna."

"All right, romantic lasagna coming right up when we get back!"

A/N: Even though this story is not that popular as my other fanfictions, that doesn't mean I should give up. I love writing this fanfiction because it pretty much tells how I want my relationship to be. I like writing my fantasies down: travelling with my loved one, getting warm treatment when I'm sick or depressed, easily making up even after an argument, and so much more.
