Chapitre 21 : La Querelle Grave

Git and Remy walked back to Remy's home together. Git was a little nervous. He needed to tell Remy something and he was not going to like it.

"Remy?" Git called hesitantly.

"Yes?" Remy replied.

"I, uh, I..." Git started hesitantly, "I have plans this weekend... with your brother and other friends... so..."

"You want us to go on a date some other time?" Remy finished for him.

"How did you-?" Git asked, but before he can say more, Remy answered him.

"It's kind of obvious," Remy said, "I understand. It's not bad to skip date for one or two weeks. I can't let you destroy your friendship because of me. Sure, you may go ahead and go with your plan with your friends this weekend."

"Thanks, Remy," Git said, "I won't make you feel lonely anymore after I take care of my companies."

"I'm pretty sure I can wait for it," Remy said understandingly.

"But I'm still taking you home everyday, just so you know," Git said so that Remy wouldn't be too disappointed. Remy rubbed his back to indicate that he was okay. Soon, they were at the door of his home. Remy and Git exchanged good-bye before parting.

After working and walking together back home for two more days, it was already weekend. He took a relaxing but lonely break on weekend. But when he looked out the window to see the storm, where the rain poured and the thunder roared, he felt pretty lucky that Git planned to hang out with his friends that day. I hope he keeps his bond between his friends, especially in this bad weather. Remy thought as he looked out the windowsill. Meanwhile, Git was having fun with his friends at the colony.

On Monday evening, Git told Remy about another plan.

"Hey, I got another job apparently, besides being your bodyguard. Your dad wants some rats to transport heavy items and Emile and my friends made me sign up," Git told Remy. "It may take like weeks, or maybe a month or so. Since the unexpected storm that happened during the weekend, there were a lot of giant pieces of trash that has been carried into our colony, especially some stuff that may hurt the little ones if they go near it."

"Wow that sounds like pain," Remy said, then he winked and said, "Good luck!"

So another week passed. Remy and Git both worked at different places. It was now third week since Git didn't make time for Remy. Remy became even lonelier that he wanted to spend time with Git on his day off. When he was about to ask Git if he can spend time with him during the weekend, Git told him that he had to work that day again. Though Remy was disappointed by that, he needed to understand. Remy knew that he just had to be patient until the colony is cleaned out.

Throughout the week, Git walked with him, but Git hurried so that he can have a bit of relax time.

"So how was your date today?" Remy asked.

"Good, good," Git replied. He didn't sound happy to answer. He sounded as if he was too lazy to answer, which made Remy a little upset.

He didn't even look at Remy when he said goodbye and disappeared into the street. Remy started to lose his patience. He understood the fact that Git had to work, so he didn't complain about Git not being able to give much time to spend with him, but he started to lose his patience because Git should still give some attention to Remy when they're walking together. He knows that Git may be tired, but it doesn't hurt to give him warm treatment as he used to. Remy is giving him attention even though he is physically and mentally tired, so why shouldn't he?

On Friday evening, he went to go visit the colony. He noticed the huge piles of trash and leaves that has been carried into the colony. I guess the job isn't finished yet. Then he continued to look around to look for Git, but he only saw his father with his arms wrapped in with white cloth.

"Dad?" Remy asked, a little startled as he noticed his wrapped arms, "what happened to your arm?"

"I was cleaning out the piles of trashes, and some broken glass bottle decided to slit my arm," Django explained as he slightly touched his bandage. "But I'm fine. It's getting much better."

"I see. So, dad, where is everyone?" Remy asked.

"Your brother and your boyfriend went out to visit some other colony to just hang out. Well, that's what Emile said," Django replied, completely oblivious about the whole situation.

"Doesn't he work for you?" Remy asked, confused.

"Yea," Django replied, "but not for long. Just when there are things we need to get rid of or replace some things to make our colony seem less complicated. Since the colony is almost cleared out now, I'm just giving them longer breaks. They have been working very hard. After they're done with their work for the day, I give them free time. Git usually just go to his room to relax. I have to say, he is working hard."

Remy understood that Git has his own schedule. He had no choice but to talk to other rats he was a little acquainted with. But due to the lack of connection, he decided to leave and go back home. As soon as he entered his home, he went straight to the kitchen and turn on the warm water. Then he grabbed a small piece of soap and started to rub his body with it as the water washed down to his fur. Why am I being so selfish? He's busy too, and he should spend time with his own friends. But I really want to spend time with him too. Remy thought as he let the warm water wash not only the stain but also his stress. He'd better be available next week. Remy thought as he drifted to sleep as he cuddled the bear that Git gave him.

After the long weekend, he worked a little unmotivated than usual. Oh, focus, Remy! He thought as he slapped the both of his cheek. Remy tried to stay happy through the lunch and dinner hours. But when he was working, he saw Git talking happily with other rats. He even saw few female rats trying to flirt with Git. Remy's eyes were automatically rolled upwards as the fury ran through his brain. Thankfully, he was able to not let that sight bother him for rest of the service and get through the day without any problems. Even though, Remy was not satisfied with his emotions and his quality of work that day.

After cleaning the last dish in the sink, he walked outside to wait for Git to walk back home with him. He probably sat outside for half an hour but he still didn't come. Remy didn't wait, he just went straight back home by himself. It was more like stomping back home as he started to be very furious about his absence. Seriously? Now he's not telling me that he has plans? Remy had enough. He is now going to confront him tomorrow.

Next day, Git did show up, but 15 minutes late. Remy frowned as he walked with him. Git knew that he was in enough trouble for not walking with him yesterday.

"Is something wrong?" Git asked cautiously. He just wanted to find some way to break the awkwardness.

"I believe you know the answer to that," Remy replied as he stopped walking and crossed his arms. He looked at Git sternly.

"I'm sorry I didn't walk with you yesterday," Git apologized.

"Anything else you would like to apologize for?" Remy asked, even more sternly. Git tried to think. Remy lost his patience. "You didn't tell me the reason why!" Remy yelled. Git was surprised by Remy's anger level. "And for three weeks, you didn't give me much attention even though I tried to hear some warmth from you, and now you're late or absent without even telling me why! You know, I understand that you have a lot to do, you have a lot of people you want to hang out with, but it doesn't hurt to give me same attention as you used to! What do I even mean to you? Do you know how much I tried to get that attention from you? Did you even notice?"

Git, startled, trying to calm him down, said, "Remy, I'm sorry I just got too distracted with other things and--"

"See, now you're making excuses!" Remy said furiously, "I heard your dad isn't giving you that much work either since the colony is cleaned out enough! Why are you not giving me the attention? Are your friends and job that important that you forget about my existence for three weeks straight?"

Git became a little angry. He frowned and said, "Okay, Remy, you've gotten too far. I never said I didn't care about you, did I?"

"Well, you're making it look like you care less about me these days! All you seem to care about is your job and friends!" Remy raised his voice at Git.

"Well, maybe because you never had close friends before, or you're just not enjoying your job!" Git yelled back. Remy froze, shocked and offended. "What? Did I say something wrong?" Git yelled again. Then he felt a hot and stingy sensation across his face. Remy slapped him. He slapped him so hard that Git saw stars for a split second. After he stopped hallucinating, he turned back to Remy, who was already walking away from him. Git, holding his cheek, put his head down, and dragged his body back to the colony.

When Remy got home, he weakly walked across the living room, climbed to his bed, and started to cry softly as he buried his face into the pillow. How can he do this to me? Remy thought as he screamed into the pillow.

When Git got to the colony, he just sat in the room, holding his cheek where Remy slapped him. It was still stingy that Git winced as he rubbed his cheek softly, trying to soothe the pain. Ooh, damn it. Git thought as he winced.

A/N: Awkward... That was some serious fight right there... what will happen to them? Will they be able to make up? Let's find out next time...
