Once upon a time, there was a faraway kingdom that was ruled by a good loving king and his kind hearted queen, one snowy night the queen was reading next to the window, she look up to see purple and blue gems that she was going to sew with the clothing she bought, goes well with the snow outside, she smiled and from that moment on, all she desired was a daughter with skin as white as snow, hair as purple as Amethyst, and eyes as blue as sapphires.

Months later, her wish came true and she named her child, Rarity.
Unfortunately, soon after the princess's birth, the queen became ill and passed away, leaving a grieving king and kingdom behind. As the years passed, the princess grew into a beautiful and elegant young lady, beloved by her father and the villagers of their kingdom.

The king, however, was very lonely and desired to find a new wife and mother for his daughter. To his misfortune, the woman he has chosen to make his queen, is not what she seems to be. April is very beautiful, but she is a vain and wicked woman who practices witchcraft, and only cares about herself, she cannot bare the thought of someone being more beautiful than she is. Because of this, April is only happy when she was looking into one of her many mirrors to gaze her beauty.

She puts on an act to trick the king and pretends to love him and her new stepdaughter, and cares for the kingdom, but in reality she does not, and only did it in order to become queen. A few months later after the king and the new queen's marriage, the king passed away while fighting a war in a faraway land, the queen did not shed a single tear and reveals her true nature by taxing the villagers heavily and use the money to buy all sorts of lotions and potions that would maintain her beauty. And the villagers of the kingdom became sad and frighten of her.

As for Rarity, the queen dressed the little princess in rags and forced her to work as a scullery maid, feared that some day her beauty would surpass her own. The queen has many, many mirrors, but her favorite is a magic mirror,

which it always spoke the total and absolute honest truth and never lies. For many years, every single day, the vain queen would look into her magic mirror and asks the same question, "Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" And each time, the magic mirror tells the queen the same answer,

"You, my queen, are the fairest of them all."

The queen is always very pleased with the answer. But then one day, the queen will get a different answer from the magic mirror.

In the castle in Canterlot, Queen April walked up to her magic mirror in her throne room and asked it her usual question, "Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" Queen April asked as she checks to make sure her makeup and hair is perfectly, the mirror shifted and shows the image of a beautiful young maid cleaning the stairs outside of the castle as the mirror responds,

"You, my queen, are fair; it is true. But Rarity is a thousand times fairer than you."

"What?!" Queen April yells in anger, know the name belongs to her stepdaughter, "How can this be?! I'm the most beautiful woman in the land, I always have been and I always shall be! Magic Mirror, how dare you say Rarity is more beautiful than I am?!" Queen April demanded,

"Your beauty is great, is true, but there is one more fair than you. For Rarity's beauty does begin where yours does stop, tis from within."

Queen April glares at her stepdaughter's image as her jealousy began to grew. "Sent me my royal huntsman! Immediately!" She orders one of the guards from outside her throne room as she walks up to her throne and sat down.
