Blood of the Colossus || Flash Fic

Hey friends, have a weird af short-short story set in ancient Siaboras, aka the mermaid place in GG a couple thousand years ago before it pulled an Atlantis.

This may or may not be the opening to the super intense rewrite of Radiant (remember Radiant? lol), featuring blood-magic powered mechs.

Or it could just be a fever dream *shrug*

It took four days to fell the Colossus. The strongest spears snapped against it, arrows plinked harmlessly off its skin of steel and stone. Prayers went up in every tongue to every God. For four days the greatest warriors of each tribe brought forth their best weapons, and the greatest weavers their best nets.  Four days, and by then most of Siaboras' northern coast was in ruins.

It was a mother that finally did it, wrought with grief after her child was crushed without a care beneath the Colossus' mighty foot. The story was told differently from tribe to tribe, but the most enduring version was this:

While warriors warred and weavers wove, the mother climbed the Colossus' impenetrable exterior all the way to the head. And when she reached the head, she spoke. She told stories of her child, of the memories they shared. She cried, and the Colossus listened.

And the Colossus stilled.

And the Colossus cried.

The Colossus fell, and silence with it.

No one knew where it came from or why. Some saw it as a declaration of war from an unknown enemy, others a warning from the Gods. Slowly but surely, the tribes of Siaboras tore the Colossus apart. For study, for worship, for fuel for their forges. The more they tore into it, the more they learned, and the more mysteries they uncovered.

But the greatest mystery, the greatest impossibility, was Her

More impossible than the Colossus of steel and stone was the Infant of flesh and bone it held within its metal womb. Blood pumped through the Colossus, and through the Infant, and through the tubes and cables that bound them as one.

The mother then understood why the dead Colossus had shed tears for her tale. And she tore the Infant free with her own bloodsoaked hands, and raised Her with them as well.
